Hello! Thank you for using yiff.party!

We hope you enjoy using it. yiff.party operates on a non-profit basis, and as such, all the server expenses are paid by our users. We don't want to run ads or infect you with crypto miners. We depend on users like you to keep the site running, and to preserve years and terabytes of amazing content—some of which is no longer available from its original creators!

Because of the nature of the site, many users are reluctant to donate. That's OK! yiff.party was created so everyone can enjoy the content we host without any restrictions or paywalls. But if you value the service we provide, and are able to, we—and our users—would be tremendously grateful if you considered making a donation.

Donation progress for September 2020

So far, approximately $0.00 has been raised out of our target of $400.00. We're about 0% of the way there! Please note: this tracker is updated manually—don't worry if your donation doesn't show up immediately!

yiff.party's server costs are due on the last day of each month. So, we need to meet this goal before 30 September!

How to donate?

At this time, yiff.party can only accept donations in numerous cryptocurrencies. Please select a currency below to display the relevant donation address.

Bitcoin (BTC)
Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
Ethereum (ETH)
Ethereum Classic (ETC)
Litecoin (LTC)
Why can't I donate through other means (eg. PayPal)?

Due to the nature of sites like yiff.party, it is very difficult to find payment processors who will accept clients like us. If we were to accept donations via PayPal, it wouldn't take more than a day for someone to submit an abuse report and get our account frozen. Until a viable way of accepting monetary donations becomes available, cryptocurrency will remain the only option.

There are many resources available on how to purchase crypto. For Bitcoin, check out bitcoin.org's page on buying Bitcoin for a list of methods. For beginner Bitcoin users, yiff.party recommends using an escrow service such as LocalBitcoins.

Hey everyone!

This is the follow-up to the Shards of the Storm collaboration we posted earlier. This pack is all around the theme of isolated polar locations (and the occassional horror and beauty found in those places). We've got igloo villages, frozen dragons, slippy ice pools, church ruins, ice henges, fishing holes, prehistoric fish, ice crevasses and more.

We hope that along with the collaboration earlier that this pack will give you lots of interesting locations to take your party when you're venturing up into the frigid north. Beware the yetis.

Shards of the Storm - Mega Collaboration 2020-09-16T15:00:05+00:00close

Hey everyone!

Knowing that Rime of the Frostmaiden would be out this month me and Peku had the idea of gathering all the great mapmakers and TTRPG creators we know to make a giant 150x180 grid map.

And now we're ready to reveal the fruits of our labour!

You'll find everything from frozen dragons to igloo camps to giant swords on the map with stirring music and powerful monsters and items to bring it all together.

Along with the maps we’ve also included new monsters, minis, magic items and music tracks. You can view a list of everything contained in the pack below as well as links to each of the creators responsible for contributing to this effort. Most creators have also created their own patron-only content, so we highly encourage that you check out their Patreons below.

This is the spiritual successor to the Tarrasque mega collaboration we organized last year. So many awesome creators returned from that project to join us on this one, as well as lots of new faces. So we hope you check out all their work in the Credits section below!

Included in this mega collaboration is:

  • 10 track atmospheric and epic RPG music album
  • 4 ice infused magic items
  • 9 monsters complete with stats
  • 15 minis and VTT tokens
  • 30 different 30 x 30 maps, available as gridded and gridless. (plus, the maps join together to form a giant 150 x 180 square battlemap!)

Here are the download links for the different files, you can also us the zips in the attachments at the bottom of this post.

Gridded Maps

Gridless Maps

Music Album

Monsters, Minis and Magic Items

Here are links to all the creators involved in the project... most have extra variations and goodies planned for their Patrons to compliment the maps and items included in this free release.

Lastly, I want to give extra recognition to Dagonzo, Misjay Maps and Tom Cartos for helping me to manage this project, Forgotten Adventures for making two extra maps at the last moment to complete the grid, the MAD Cartographer for renaming all the maps so they make actual sense and Jelke for coming up with the project name.

Oh and also thanks to Peku who didn't roll her eyes when I said i wanted to do another mega collaboration even after saying the Tarrasque mega collaboration was definitely going to be a one-time thing... *cough*

To everyone reading this, we hope you enjoy all this awesome free content. We wouldn't be able to create all this without your support! From everyone who joined in on this project, thank you for your patronage. :)

Black Dragon Lair [41x45] 2020-08-30T18:38:13+00:00close

Hey everyone!

We're back again for the last map of the month and the next in our series of Dragon lairs. This time the toxic swamps of the foul Black Dragon.

We thought of this lair as being an ancient obsidian altar to some forgotten deity that the dragon later appropriated as its lair. The ruins of the past civilization and their mammoth mounts still haunting this ruined place.

Like last time, this map was a collaboration with the brilliant Jess Jackdaw, if you don't know their work, head over to their patreon or check out this awesome video of their YouTube! We'll be working with Jess again next month to bring you a lair for the desert dwelling Blue Dragon.

Extra content to accompany this lair will be coming in September by Paper Forge and the rest of Team Superhydra, so keep an eye out for that!

Let us know in the comments what dragon you'd like to see after we cover the Blue Dragon!

Hey Guys. It is a tremendous and exciting map. I have a similar issue as the others reading the height of the skull. Dunno what it is. Looks sunken to me too. The flow of water, the way the grass looks like a ledge around the bottom. Still it is gorgeous either way. Anyway. I was wondering if you have a timeline for preparing new maps for foundry?
user avatar
User #8545106 - 30 Aug 20 19:19
These are gorgeous
user avatar
User #10826754 - 30 Aug 20 18:55
That is amazing!
user avatar
User #31200247 - 31 Aug 20 06:47
I initially thought the skull was a sunken pit as well. I think the issue is the deep shadows circling the skull making it appear that it's sunken as opposed to raised. The way the lighting is on the map, the lightest parts of the skull portion of the map (the rocks surrounding the skull) have no shadows, when they should be shadowed as they're further away from any light source so they should be darker instead of lighter. Instead you have the darkest parts in the middle surrounding the skull, where those should be the lighest or at least have more definition, being closer to the light source. I hope that makes sense. The map is still gorgeous and absolutely usable in it's current form. I do absolutely love the concept regardless of the lighting clarity issue.
user avatar
User #208054 - 1 Sep 20 21:06
I think it's because it's more of an isometric view than a top view as usual.
user avatar
User #32789713 - 30 Aug 20 18:50
Holy wow, these are too good!
user avatar
User #3369814 - 30 Aug 20 18:57
I love all your maps and this is a great piece of art... but its not a great battlemap. Its really hard to tell if this skull altar is raised or is it a pit? it does not look flat at all due to the dark blacks around the skull itself, but the water seems to be sitting flat across the entire map with no obvious flow direction or source so i cant tell if there is a slope or not? The tusks seem to dip into the water so its got to be raised at least near the edges, but the water flows directly into the eyes so its a pit? but the teeth overlap the platform which seems to be on level ground? Just having a hard time telling how to appropriately use this map, but it is great art and I'm always looking forward to the next amazing thing you guys make. Just wanted to provide some feedback - the snowy variation luckily seems like it could be used as a flat map which is excellent.
user avatar
User #7303644 - 30 Aug 20 21:34
The skull is likely sunken down into the marsh because of its size and weight.
user avatar
czepeku - 30 Aug 20 22:02
Hey Aaron, thanks for the feedback, the skull is meant to be raised and the water is meant to be flowing from the eyes, magically. Sort of as if the skull was crying the murky water. Everything on the map is above the water, which is why it is rising above it. Sorry that wasn't clear.
user avatar
User #21442703 - 31 Aug 20 00:33
Yeah I agree a little with Aaron, I'm having a really difficult time figuring out the perspective of this map. I love your art and style. I look forward to see what comes next!
user avatar
User #3369814 - 1 Sep 20 21:04
Its not really a problem I am more than getting my money's worth from you guys! i love your maps! this one was just a bit off IMO so i figured i'd let you know. There is just a lack of shading on the skull part which would normally indicate height. Its a very impressive piece of art, but a little confusing to look at if you're trying to figure out exactly whats going on. I will still probably end up using it regardless!

Hey everyone! This is our third collaboration with the wonderful Zhillustrator, who you might remember from the Beholder God and Mechanical Palace maps.

This time we've created a heavenly Celestial Realm for those of you planning to battle angels or those wanting to help bolster the forces of the outer planes against fiends and demons.

We've created a ton of variations for this one including some giant monsters for you to fight, defend and communicate with.

If you like this collaboration please go and check out Zhillustrator's twitch and patreon. He offers art, brushes, streams and even art mentorships over at his patreon. Check it out!

Hey everyone!

We might have got carried away with this one and made something very very massive! The full map is 84x84 but we've split it up as a 3x3 mosaic for you so it's easier to insert into VTTs and to print. :)

What started out as a treetop dungeon turned more into a magical treetop for dryads. :3

The branches are big enough to use as paths and some are even large enough to stage fights on. Our hope was that players would come across all sorts of pixies dryads, elves and other fey-like creatures living within this massive dying tree. So high up that the ground is obscured by mist and fairy dust so that players have to watch their every step lest they fall to their untimely deaths.

We made several variations of the trunk itself including a little village with pulleys, a giant grub eating its way through the hollow, a flat platform for a big fight to occur and more!

The Boy King of Idaho has also composed a lovely music track to accompany map, so make sure to grab that here. And visit their patreon here!

We’ve got two more maps coming out this month, hopefully on the 29th and the 31st! So keep an eye out for those and there'll be a new map poll directly after this post, so make sure to go vote on our next map!

As the map is so big i've added in some close ups below. :)

Again, these maps are BIG so unfortunately we had to split up the $3 and $5 zips into multiple parts.

User #28907652 - 28 Aug 20 02:46
I'm new around here, but am absolutely FLOORED by the quality of your maps. I'm mostly interested in Foundry modules, and was wondering if this map was going to become a module and how long the module usually takes to release after the release of the map? Obviously, this is a super ambitious map, and I'm not complaining at all, I just want to know what to have for expectations?
user avatar
czepeku - 28 Aug 20 08:14
After the map is released we give it to Forien who makes it into a module. Turn around time is about 1 hour if he's free but that's not a guarantee. I don't think we're making this map into a module because other than the ring of the trunk there's no real walls in this map, nor doors or light sources.
user avatar
User #31927124 - 28 Aug 20 15:04
Same for Encounter+? No modules forthcoming?

Still not able to be a Patreon of yours but so glad to see some light being shined down on Foundry VTT!! It's such an amazing piece of software that deserves way more attention and this will make GMs lives so much easier
user avatar
User #3389843 - 21 Aug 20 20:12
Are the FoundryVTT ready maps gonna be a per map cost?
user avatar
czepeku - 21 Aug 20 21:17
We only charge when we release new maps and these are included in that price. So whatever you were paying before for each new map, you still will be paying.
user avatar
User #3389843 - 21 Aug 20 23:39
Awesome. Still trying to figure out how Patreon works.
user avatar
User #20639491 - 21 Aug 20 18:38
Awesome! Will all the old maps be converted as well? That would absolutely be worth upgrading for.
user avatar
czepeku - 21 Aug 20 18:48
Right now about 90%+ of the maps have been converted and are available (including variations) Some are a bit impossible, like the Bag of Holding and the Realm of Dreams because they don't have tangible walls.
user avatar
czepeku - 21 Aug 20 16:13
Oh and we'll be posting a new dragon lair in the next few days along with the treetop dungeon!
user avatar
User #15086494 - 23 Aug 20 05:32
I love the idea, but the modules don't seem to work for me. Every time I try to activate an imported scene I get an error "Failed to draw canvas for layer background". :/ Do the modules require a specific version of Foundry? I am currently running the stable release 0.6.5.
user avatar
czepeku - 23 Aug 20 08:14
They don't require a specific version. Did you move or rename the files? That error is likely because it can't find the images.
user avatar
User #15086494 - 23 Aug 20 13:12
I didn't, but I think I figured out the problem, thanks to your help. :) In the city_streets pack the folder structure is "/modules/czepeku-41/maps/", but the db file under "packs" lists the structure as "/modules/czepeku/41-city-streets//". Replacing the strings in the db file fixes it, but if somebody else stumbles over the same problem, just loading the scene you want and manually assigning the correct background image is probably easier and faster than replacing all these paths in the JSON. :)
user avatar
User #38035221 - 23 Aug 20 13:40
Hey Naresea! We are aware about the City Streets, I already fixed that, but Cze would have to reupload the module. Editing DB files is not recommended, you could easily corrupt entire file, just keep it in mind :) better to change the path in Scene Configuration after you imported the "broken" scene. Sorry for inconvenience, it was an oversight on my part. If you find any other module that doesn't work, let us know! :)
user avatar
User #31491239 - 21 Aug 20 18:28
Apologies if this is answered by watching the video(on data rn so can't). When the VTT version is put into Foundry will the walls and lighting already be setup? I had purchased the Minotaur Labrinth on roll20 and had to still do the walls and lighting setup as if I uploaded the image. Being a high tier patron already, if this is pre done for Foundry that would definitely be a deciding factor in me adopting Foundry vs roll20.
user avatar
czepeku - 21 Aug 20 18:53
All the walls and lighting set up, exactly! That's the use of these. :) The maps available on R20 are just images, there's no setup there unfortunately.
user avatar
User #33184402 - 21 Aug 20 16:18
This is fantastic! I was already at the $5 level for all the variations but now this will give me so much more bang for my buck and save me hours of prep time. Thank you for adding this!

Hey everyone!

Welcome to the Ol’ Silver Serpent Saloon, our watering hole for all kinds of gamblers and gunslingers and other ne’er-do-wells and miscreants.

As you can see, the saloon is two storeys with a small brothel on the top floor. We made a TON of variations this week. 23 in total with an upper floor for each. We made several 'messy' versions for all those inevitable bar brawls that'll be breaking out when your party arrives.

There's all sorts of haunted, magical and spell variations too which will hopefully make it easier to use for those of you playing in more high fantasy settings.

Stick around because after this post there'll be another one which has a whole bunch of extra goodies to accompany this map!

Map Links 2020-08-08T22:23:46+00:00

Hey everyone!

A few people have messaged us about not being able to download the maps.

That's because we're in the process of updating all the map files. If you need a map, head straight to the master post for your tier and get the zip file there:

$1 Tier Download Links

$3 Tier Download Links

$5+ Tiers Download Links

The master posts are all updated now but that means we have about 200 links to fix in the individual map posts. So for now it's best to grab the zip file directly from one of those links above.

Czepeku 2.0: Sharkcat Remakening 2020-08-09T16:01:13+00:00

Hey everyone!

Over the last month we’ve been focusing on some quality of life upgrades around here so that you get the best experience possible being part of this community.

First of all, for the next year we plan to move from 3 maps per month to 4! That way you can get a new map every week and have something new to show off at your table every session.

We’ve scoured all the old maps for naming inconsistencies and fixed them all. Thank you to everyone who pointed out the problems and let us know. So now all the maps, right from the beginning, use the same naming practices and are separated into Gridded and Gridless folders for ease of use. Some of the maps which were missing gridless versions and other mistakes have all been fixed.

(The exception is our first two maps which were sort of beyond repair, they're officially retired now)

We’ve also optimized all the old maps so that they look just as great but now take up less disk space. If you re-download all the maps you’ll now save about 1.25GBs.

Remember if you want more information on any of the maps, its all in this handy ledger.

The Master Cartographer tier now gets all of the maps as printable PDFs. We’ve gone through the archives and made PDF versions of all our maps. You can take these to a print shop and print them as nice big glossy prints or set them to poster mode and print at home!

Printing instructions are on the PDF post here.

The Master Cartographer tier will also be getting Foundry VTT-ready versions of all the maps (a big thank you to the guys at Foundry Workshop for setting that up for us). That means all the walls and lighting is configured for all our maps. So you can just import them and play with all the fun advanced features without any hassle.

In the coming weeks we also hope to support EncounterPlus and other VTTs. Keep an eye out for that too!

The PDFs and Foundry-ready maps are in the midst of being uploaded so expect those hopefully tomorrow or sometime this week! We'll put up an instruction manual on how to import the maps into Foundry VTT.

We've had a rethink on how we want to handle commercial use of our maps. We're currently fine tuning the writing but essentially we're going to allow the watermarked versions of our maps to be used commercially within other rpg projects (settings, adventures, supplements, etc.) by all patrons.

We know a lot of small homebrew creators don't have the funds to support us at $20p/m so we think this is a good compromise, hopefully this way a lot more creators will feel inspired to publish their own adventures.

And lastly...

These changes are our way of saying thank you to the almost 5000 patrons who have joined us here on patreon and lent us their support.

Last month we entered the top 10 games patreons, so we want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has joined us in this community and made that possible! We especially want to thank the 10 patrons that have stuck with us since our very first week! And to all the mods on the Discord and the other creators that have collaborated with us along the way.

We’re so thrilled to be making maps for you all and we want to do our best not only to make the best maps possible but to make your experience finding and using those maps the best it possibly can be. So we really hope you like these changes. Let’s make some awesome roleplaying memories together!

Inside a Bag of Holding

Hey everyone! This week's theme was a tricky one! We wanted it to feel like your players were trapped in the centre of the map like it was a colosseum, a big flat surface for battling and when they're done saying whatever beasts are lurking in the bag, they can run, jump and climb their way out of the swirls of objects to the top of the bag and be free.

The three tendrils of items are meant to represent the class rpg trio of wizard, thief, fighter, so no matter who is in your party, hopefully there's something of their's in this bag!

Inside The Griffon's Saddlebag

The astute among you might recognize some of the items in this bag as coming from The Griffon's Saddlebag who have graciously given us a set of items and cards which you can get for free here.

We wanted to spice up your adventuring experience, so now once you've battled your way out of this bag you can pick up a bunch of awesome new items for your party.

In celebration of this magic item bonaza we're also doing a giveaway contest on our Twitter page! Enter for a chance to win the brand new hardback Griffon's Saddlebag book and get access 365 of the best magic items around. (also some cool art by us in there...)

You can enter the contest here.

Oh and stick around! After this post we've got the new map poll coming out and a little later today another new map pack!

Hey everyone! This is our next dragon lair, last month we covered the White Dragon and this time we're bringing you a Green Dragon lair deep within the forest, by a peaceful spring in the mountains.

This map was a collaboration with the brilliant Jess Jackdaw, if you don't know their work, head over to their patreon or check out this awesome video of their Pokemon x DnD fusion monsters! We'll be working with Jess again next month to bring you a lair for the monstrous Black Dragon.

Later today we'll also be posting some more content to go with this map so you can turn it into a full adventure including items, minis, music and more. Keep an eye out for that! :)

P.S. We'd like to let you all know that our friends over at Mage Hand Press have a new Kickstarter out right now, which you can check out here. You might remember their work from our Giant's Kitchen collaboration last month! If you've ever wanted to play 5e but made for sci-fi, that Kickstarter is for you!

You can vote for multiple also.

The issue is we don't want to disregard the suggestions we're given, so we try to fill out the max slots.

I did not know you could vote for multplie...

Ever try to do something three dimensional? Nothing complex, maybe just a couple of corridors/tunnels that crass over or under each other, or perhaps a balcony of some sort over a death trap/arena/cave?
user avatar
User #5598054 - 30 Jul 20 19:38
That would be awesome. I once ran a flying battle where I had two maps, one sideways and one from the top, so you could go up and down as well.
user avatar
czepeku - 30 Jul 20 19:51
There's a few maps that have balconies and bridges crossing over the map. Goblin Bridge, Plague Hospital, Royal Throne Room, Pirate Tavern, etc.
user avatar
User #25704773 - 31 Jul 20 04:20
I was looking at your magical wizard tower yesterday and thinking it was awesome and I suppose I was wondering if you would ever consider something that modular again, but maybe for player housing? I’ve ran a few DnD campaigns now and player housing is just something they all seem to love so much. A wee map of their house that can be customised to some degree. It just seems to make a lot of players mega happy.
user avatar
czepeku - 31 Jul 20 14:17
We don't normally do modular maps because they've never been as popular as our other maps. As for class quarters, the Crafty Dice has done a lot of work on those that are worth checking out: https://www.patreon.com/thecraftydice

Crossing my fingers for the Cathedral Ship, that's EXACTLY what I've been wanting for my Avernus campaign.

Mmmm gothic cathedral. Useful in so many situations.

More Eberron stuff, please haha

Traveling magic caravan would be super useful, but I think the larger maps should take priority.

I LOVE all your ideas! I wonder how you guys would do a more modern map... like a movie theater or office

i don't entirely know what is meant by shark pirate ship but i sure as hell want to find out.

I would love to see some ancient Greek or Roman themed maps. Not necessarily ruins, but living cities, palaces, etc.
user avatar

I'll add a palace to the next poll but definitely check out the Plague Hospital map, that was Roman in style!
user avatar
User #2867825 - 30 Jul 20 19:52
Indeed it is, and I've already got it slotted in for use in an upcoming game :)
user avatar
User #21346813 - 30 Jul 20 20:37
Ever thought about doing a theme for a month? Each map released in said month would tie together to form a narrative or short adventure. Just an idea *shrug*
user avatar
czepeku - 31 Jul 20 14:15
We have considered that. It sounds good in theory but depending on the theme it could just make our lives very difficult. I don't know how we'd have made another 2 maps on the theme of 'inside a bag of holding' for instance.
user avatar
User #21346813 - 31 Jul 20 17:46
Well yeah, I don't mean that one specifically lol But for example the Green Dragon Lair map, there's a cave there, perhaps a map for what that cave would be like as well? Just some random thoughts I'm having and sharing =)

User #5488238 - 6 Aug 20 03:37
ALL OF THE ABOVE!

User #7611449 - 30 Jul 20 21:32
Yes to underwater shipwreck. There are surprisingly few of these and we are running a campaign with a modified apparatus of Kwalish as a submarine! (One of those would be cool too!!!).

The Frostgauntlet 2020-07-30T17:12:22+00:00close

Hey everyone! We'd like to present to you The Frostgauntlet, an awesome new collaboration between Team Superhydra using our icy Antlion Canyon map. Hopefully this will get you excited for the upcoming Rime of the Frostmaiden release coming in September. :)

We've got a lot of posts coming today including two new battlemap packs and a new map poll. So expect more releases!

Background

The Frostgauntlet is a side trek adventure for Fifth Edition. The adventure is intended for three to seven characters of 8th to 11th level, and it is optimized for five characters with an average party level (APL) of 9.

The Frostgauntlet
offers a shortcut between two important stretches of arctic territory that would otherwise require magical means to cross. Treacherous and nigh impassable, many who know of its perils would rather take the long way ‘round before setting foot within its icy passages. To make matters worse, the cavern is now home to a dreadful white dragon named Pulraess, The Prince of Winter. Understanding the value the shortcut offers adventurers and explorers, Pulraess uses The Frostgauntlet as an ambush point. Pulraess’ minions then gather the looted treasure from the dead and add it to the dragon’s ever growing pile which it keeps below a thick layer of ice.

Until the dragon and its minions are forcibly removed from the area, The Frostgauntlet is effectively off-limits.

A Team Superhydra Collaboration

This adventure was brought to you by the combined efforts of Team Superhydra. It features maps by Cze & Peku, paper miniatures by Paper Forge, and a new magic item by The Griffon’s Saddlebag.

All of these items are included below for you to download for FREE. Enjoy!

Hello! Going to run a slightly beefed up version of this for 5 level 9s and was curious what the map size is meant to be to use with Roll20? Currently sized it at 33x93 for the grid.

Welcome to Arkus, a world filled with colossal trees that tower over a barren earth beset by unending earthquakes. Atop these trees, gnomes build massive mechanical cities, orcs and tabaxi forge an uneasy alliance, and elves take to the skies atop massive palm fronds. Governments, religious order, and extraplanar forces vie for control, all while parallel dimensions offer glimpses into alternate realities.

This 23-page campaign setting primer by Will Savino gives you everything you need to start planning adventures in this strange and intricate world. You’ll learn everything you need to know about The Short Table, Leafgates, The Cleave, Arkbloods, and The Silverleaf War. In addition to details about history, magic, and society, explore a deepdive into the great Gnomish city of Trunktop as well as a treasure trove of plot hooks that will help you jump right into your first few sessions!

Additionally, the cover to the Arkus PDF was created by virtuoso painter Zhillustrator. Grab a stunning high quality version of this image at his Patreon!

While this document provides a detailed narrative introduction to the Arkus setting, it also provides some 5e compatible homebrew that will be immediately usable in your other D&D settings. Play as the plant-based Threndl race, the Orc / Tabaxi hybrid Orxi, and the acoustically-themed sorcerer subclass The Resonant. Additionally, explore three new backgrounds that will help you flesh out Arkus characters and tie them to the world mechanically as well as narratively.

Patrons can get all the files from this awesome collaboration here.

Arkus is a world of intrigue, mystery, and danger. You’ll explore alternate timelines, thwart political coups, and adventure deep into the trunks and high into the skies. You’ll smoke psychedelic sap, sweep away torrential mudrains, and confront corrupt peacekeeping authorities. Windmill Farm [31x46] 2020-07-12T18:59:18+00:00close

Hey everyone we're back with a new map!

Finally we've made a map that can fit into pretty much every campaign! An idyllic windmill and pastoral landscape, complete with chickens and the innerworkings of the mill. Hopefully you can picture yourself standing here in this bucolic rural land, listening to the cock crowing, the children playing, the mill churning and the threshing in the fields beyond. Perhaps beyond that the sound of carts collecting crops and beyond that the sound of angry barbarians coming to ruin it all unless you stop them.

We created this map to accompany Music d20's Arkus campain setting, of which there's a special varitation available to all tiers. Right after we post this map there'll be another post with the Arkus campaign setting PDF as well as maps and minis and more by the other creators! Stick around for that!

I had to cancel my subscription for monetary reasons but then I saw this and decided to mess with my budget instead so I could come back and get it lol My campaign is going to my country of Auvail, which is very fantasy-France with windmills and vineyards and the like. This is perfect for it! I'm also using your Monster Festival, Ogre Queen, Adventurer's Guildhall, and Thieves Hideout maps for several other locations during this particular arc of the campaign.

Map Improvement Help Wanted 2020-07-05T15:51:10+00:00

Hey everyone! We're currently attempting to fix all the issues with our previously released maps.

We've found a good way to lower the file size of the maps, so our goal is to re-release all the maps with a smaller file size and also with a consistent naming pattern, separated into Gridded and Gridless folders. Hopefully this will make using the maps a lot easier!

If you want to help, out here's a link to a Trello page, any errors you've discovered just add to the comments of that map's card.

Errors might be things like a gridded map named 'gridless' or a map having a gridded variation but not gridless, etc.

Thanks to everyone who has already submitted errors already! Together we can make our maps a lot better!

P.S. We're currently running a contest on Twitter in which you can win a copy of Humblewood. Please take part! :)

I wrote a script that goes through all my downloaded ZIP archives and re-creates the filenames in an ordered and consistent manner. That does not mean that it is without errors, but it gave me at least a good start on using them in a VTT. I am extracting information based on your existing filenames, trying to guess the most reasonable grid sizes, find a common filename based on either directory or individual files and deduct additional tags based on the remaining file name. This results e.g. in City_Market_Place-[Cat Shark Haul,Day]-[G:N-23x36@140,46x72@70] City_Market_Place-[Cat Shark Haul,Night]-[G:Y-23x36@140,46x72@70] Note: This allows me to filter for gridded (G:Y) and non-gridded (G:N) versions. A plain G/GL cannot be filtered easily, as "G" would catch both "G" and "GL" tags I can provide the extracted data if you are interested in receiving them. Additionally, I am extracting the most dominant background color from a 20px frame area of each image, image dimensions etc as a JSON file related to each battlemap: { "file": "CityMarketPlace_CatSharkHaul_Day_Gridded.jpg", "path": "/my/path/to/the/archives/$5 rewards/", "size": 2612505, "type": "jpg", "isGridded": true, "name": "City Market Place", "tags": [ "Cat Shark Haul", "Day" ], "width": 3220, "height": 5040, "grid": [ { "x": 23, "y": 36, "size": 140 }, { "x": 46, "y": 72, "size": 70 } ], "backgroundColor": "#59524b", "hash": "1000001101011101000001110011110110001000010010110100111111001001" } I would love to see a common standard in battlemap filenames. I know that there are plenty of creators on patreon, but a common ground would make it so much easier for us end-users.
user avatar
czepeku - 6 Jul 20 00:12
The issue with a common naming standard is that everyone wants the standard to be something different. Almost every patron i've spoken to have suggested something different that'd make it easier for them and they're often conflicting. I think it'd be near impossible to decide on something that'd be best for everyone. As for catching Gridded and Gridless, wouldn't the nested folders help speed that up?
user avatar
User #12192970 - 6 Jul 20 00:19
I would echo that everyone likes something different. I for one would filter out the 23x36@140 stuff because for me it just makes the file name much longer and more cryptic and I can figure it out very easily.
user avatar
User #20921531 - 6 Jul 20 05:44
Putting all battlemaps in the same directory allows filtering by partials strings in every application I know. Having subdirectories is viable in e.g. Windows Explorer, but not in e..g Foundry VTT directly. I can manage with my script. I feel plenty of people cannot do that as effortlessly. I understand that there are many tastes and it was just a proposal. @Michael Gassner: For me, the ideal filename includes everything so my VTT can automatically adjust the settings when setting the background image. I do not need beautiful, but useful filenames that help me to run my games better and more effortlessly. But I can understand where you are coming from, and everyone's process or preparing is different.
user avatar
User #261531 - 5 Jul 20 17:21
Echoing Michael's sentiment, I prefer a single flat folder with maps named X-Gridded and X-Ungridded or something instead of lots of nested folders
user avatar
czepeku - 6 Jul 20 00:14
If we have nested folders there'd only be one level, which is for Gridded/Gridless. From speaking to a lot of patrons it seems that people exclusively use one or the other. Very few patrons seem to use both, which is why we want to make it easier to separate them.
user avatar
User #12192970 - 6 Jul 20 00:17
On a windows machine you can put a * filter in the top level folder then cut, remove the filter and paste. Pretty easy to collapse the file structure presuming the names are already differentiated.
user avatar
User #12192970 - 5 Jul 20 16:02
While I understand wanting to standardize and put things in separate folders. Can I request the the file names in the gridded and gridless folders please be differentiated? I personally prefer a flat directory structure for each map. While that may not be for everyone can you at least differentiate the filename so it is easier to flatten the structure without needing to rename the files first?
user avatar
czepeku - 6 Jul 20 00:09
Yeah we'll definitely do this. For the newest maps we were using G and GL for the filenames to differentiate that as well as the folders themselves.
user avatar
User #12192970 - 6 Jul 20 00:15
Great keep up the awesome work
user avatar
User #11156163 - 6 Jul 20 11:53
Plz make sure that each map have a grid number for hight and length
user avatar
User #2278774 - 6 Jul 20 15:25
Yes! This! If not the map itself then the folder at least.
user avatar
czepeku - 6 Jul 20 19:43
We plan to put this in each of the folder names.
user avatar
User #32598249 - 7 Jul 20 15:48
While the file size under 5mb is superhelpful, especially as a free account Roll20 user, man I still want full res, high quality versions... please dont send away your originals.
user avatar
czepeku - 7 Jul 20 17:04
The quality will stay the same and i won't be able to guarantee all the files will be below 5mb. We've been using a new way to compress the files for the last 3 map packs and no one has mentioned any loss of quality. :)
user avatar
User #4729040 - 6 Jul 20 00:16
Separating these out is a much welcome change! Thanks so much for doing this!
user avatar
User #7212973 - 6 Jul 20 08:52
I would be good if these categories you're talking about were broken into different zip files and named, so I don't need to download huge ZIPs of every file, only to then delete half of them before adding to my collection.
user avatar
User #9020601 - 10 Jul 20 16:00
Just pledged this week to help out with some roll20 campaigns, and i love this art style, just discovered one which i was dropping in today though one of the Mid Flight Dragon maps, not sure of the others, Dragonmidflight_rain_ungridded has a grid on it, so naming might be a bit mixed up on those maps
Map Remixing Poll 2020-07-01T18:22:42+00:00

Hey everyone! Last month we launched a patron-only map-remixing competition and the time has come for the final poll to decide the winner!

There were only 9 entrants and we want to say thank you so much to everyone who decided to take part! Thanks for creating these awesome maps and best of luck in the polls!

The winner will receive a license for Foundry VTT or a physical copy of Mythic Odyssey of Theros, so vote wisely!

If you want to see any of the above maps in closer detail, you can check them out and download them here.

Thanks for all of the votes so far guys! So excited to see all the other entries! My map is meant to be an answer to what lies on the other side of the portal in the Eldritch Church. Mo and Jessie both blew me away; those two are just. Phenomenal.
user avatar
User #20388416 - 1 Jul 20 20:38
It was so hard to choose between the Release the Kraken one and the Church of the Beholder. I ended up picking the former because it was really creative use of terrain for a boss fight map. Not a lot of maps on the ocean that offer terrain to traverse for melee fighters.
user avatar
User #24675231 - 1 Jul 20 18:30
Hard to pick a favourite, but at least I've gotten a load of ideas for game encounters! Is this a one-off competition or will it be a regular thing?
user avatar
czepeku - 1 Jul 20 18:45
We were hoping to make it a regular thing but as there was only 9 entrants out of a possible 4500 patrons, we're not sure if it is worth it. Perhaps a different type of contest would be more popular?
user avatar
User #389109 - 1 Jul 20 19:01
I forgot to enter mine, but this is my remix, I needed a throne room for my Odyssey of the Dragonlords campaign: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zP417pOCWHbPHA799By9uafpZALUPuho/view?usp=sharing It was cool idea for a contest. Other mapmakers who do similar challenges will sometimes release assets packs to make it easier for people.
user avatar
czepeku - 1 Jul 20 20:15
We were thinking in future of possibly working with some other mapmakers so you could combine our maps and assets. Maybe that would be good? Also cool idea of a map! Sorry you didn't submit it in time but you should definitely take part if we do this again. :)
user avatar
User #389109 - 1 Jul 20 20:47
I run a lot of VTT games and despite all the maps out there, often have to "sew maps together." You guys are top tier but the hand-painted style definitely makes it harder to mod the maps or combine with maps from other artists.

User #4762436 - 1 Jul 20 20:49
Personally, I find the idea great and would love to see more join in :) Popularity and participation will probably continue rising!

So hard choosing between Mo & Jessie for me! Great job to you both and everyone else's work
user avatar
User #6347106 - 1 Jul 20 20:24
The problem I had in making the map was how much of a difference do I make in the map? I could have completely revamped the map, but I wanted to at least be able to toggle back and worth and see the similarities. In the end I went with a compromise of content being very similar. I wondered if I made them too similiar.

I liked your submission Arthur. Makes me think we should have done a jungle-y variation for that map. Maybe we will do something Incan themed in future!

regardless of who wins, i am DEFINITELY using that massive astral fortress! so much excellent work here!

Real bummed Eliot's in last place. I think his was the most radical transformation, and his clever title drives home the idea that this is a tactical military mission you're viewing through a monitor. The idea is so good, and he chose one of your simplest maps to start with.

I voted for several purely based on personal appeal, but really all are fantastic - all the contestants are amazingly skilled.

Winter Fortress and White Dragon 2020-06-30T18:28:08+00:00close

Hey everyone, this is a new free release!

We've teamed up with our friends over at Paper Forge to bring you an awesome Adult White Dragon and its lair!

We've created two new ice and snow variations of the Shadowfell Fortress that you can use to battle this dangerous dragon. The dragon itself comes as both as token and a paper miniature, so you can use it if you're around a table or on a VTT.

If you're a patron of Paper Forge you also get these VTT token variations:

Whilst we were editing this map we decided to go back and add some other variations we wanted to release but never had the time for. Desert, Shore and Astral.

All the files for this collaboration can be downloaded HERE.

We hope you enjoy these new maps and tokens! If you enjoy collaborations like this and want to see more, please head over to Paper Forge's patreon and support their work!

Oh and in case you have backed it yet, the Kickstarter we're running with Paper Forge and DM Dave is still live! You can get back it here and get your very own starter kit!

I get this error: {"errors":[{"code":902,"code_name":"AttachmentNotFound","detail":"Attachment with id 5890757 was not found.","id":"98a9d734-7e6a-4400-b59c-c4d2e8ef44d9","status":"404","title":"Attachment was not found."}]} Looks more like a JS reference problem than an authentication problem. I can still access all the other 5$ tier maps, just some posts now come with this error.

Giant Kitchen [105x22] 2020-06-29T16:41:57+00:00close

Hey everyone!

We received a suggestion for a 'Giant Kitchen' a while back for one of the polls and even though it didn't win we couldn't get the idea out of our head. We've watched too much Arrietty and The Borrowers not to want to make a fun map like that.

So we contacted some friends of ours and together we made this awesome collaboration for you all! The collaboration comes with a 10 page adventure, 3 new magic items and a new miniature! This'll help you to insert this map into any campaign you're running.

Adventure by Mage Hand Press

Mage Hand Press wrote Honey, I Shrunk the Party, a mini-adventure for 5th-level characters, in which the party is shrunk to a tiny size, and must negotiate the myriad dangers of an ordinary kitchen. A mini-adventure is a bite-sized adventure which can be slotted into any larger campaign for a diversion and change of pace!

Magic Items by Tavern of Trinkets

Tavern of Trinkets created three new and unique magic items for Honey, I Shrunk the Party: Bloodstirrer, Peppergrain Grenade and the Battlebutter!

Miniatures by Paper Forge

Paper Forge created Mindy the Cat, a gargantuan beast of a house kitty. Who'll chase, bite, claw and paw your party into submission!

Maps by us (of course!)

This is in fact the longest map we've ever made. We hope you can use it to pretend you've either been shrunk down really tiny or that you're inside of a giant's house like Jack and the Beanstalk!

If you like any of the content that has graciously been provided here please head over to their patreon page and support their work!

Is it still having that issue? I've tested it and it seems to work.

Looks like a ton of fun!

User #33272724 - 29 Jun 20 16:49
This was my suggestion and I was so sad when it didn't win the polls! BUT THIS IS INCREDIBLE. My players are all level 5, made frenemies of a local hag and the Barbarian of the group has a mortal hatred of cats. It could not be more perfect. Thank you so much to all the collaborators who put this together, I can't wait to run it!

Oh, just to mention! It is likely that we will have 4 maps released next month. Just so everyone is aware!

Ooo and you did a purple slime version! I'll be adding this into my infestation campaign for sure!
What VTT do you use? 2020-06-28T16:30:53+00:00

We asked a similar question to this last year and we were curious to know how the answers have changed in that time.

We're currently expanding the Patreon so that all the maps are available as printable PDFs for the $5 Master Cartographer tier.

We've also had requests to add a tier that makes the maps VTT ready with the all walls and lighting already set up. Currently this is most likely for Foundry VTT but we want to know what our community is actually using right now.

Does that sound like a good idea to you? Would you be willing to up your pledge for that functionality? What other options would you like to see? Any thoughts on the matter would be welcome!

P.S. Two days left on our Twitter Icewind Dale contest. Also two days left on our map remixing contest. And for those haven't seen it yet our Legends of Omeria kickstarter is still ongoing!

Foundry ftw! My GM just switched over for all his campaigns and we couldn't be happier. More reliable than roll20 for the easy stuff, and the advanced feature roll out is soooo much quicker than Fantasy Grounds (how long we watched Soon(tm) for their Unity solution).
user avatar
czepeku - 28 Jun 20 16:32
Also, I'll be on the Discord for a while so if anyone wants to message me in real time, head over there.
user avatar
User #33226212 - 28 Jun 20 16:35
Atm we are using Roll20 as our vtt, but we will switch to Foundry, which I only found through you guys. Thanks a lot!
user avatar
User #807485 - 28 Jun 20 16:54
Foundry now. Still have Roll20 subscription for one old campaign but have been supporting Foundry for 16 months and love it.
user avatar
User #15861115 - 28 Jun 20 16:45
I'm using Encounter+ right now but I'll be starting an online campaign later this year and will likely use Roll20 or Foundry for that. Support for walls and stuff would be so rad
user avatar
User #29875151 - 28 Jun 20 16:51
Encounter+ now has web view so you don't have to switch if you like Encounter+ or you can stream it via Discord, Zoom etc. I use AirServer to stream it to my Mac and share it via Discord. Others I know run the Mac version and just share the second screen.
user avatar
User #15861115 - 28 Jun 20 17:12
Woah! Sweet! I somehow missed that. Thanks for the tip!
user avatar
User #13153211 - 28 Jun 20 16:33
Roll20 has been my go-to for years, but I just got a license for Foundry because it looks promising and I wanted to support it for future use. Friend of mine uses Maptool for her game and it seems to work fine for the most part too!
user avatar
User #15624337 - 28 Jun 20 16:34
I use Premiere Pro into aTV at my table to provide seamless transitions and make sure that all of my maps maintain a cohesive aesthetic.
user avatar
User #2992946 - 28 Jun 20 16:32
I would love for the walls and lighting to be set up already in Foundry VTT, and I'm glad that Foundry VTT is getting some traction!
user avatar
User #2792778 - 28 Jun 20 16:56
I use a 50" tv table that I then video to the 'group' via Google Hangouts. I like to use a mix of digital and physical media.
user avatar
User #7003087 - 28 Jun 20 17:12
I'm too broke to use anything but R20 but if my financial situation changed I would rethink that as we have had a lot of issues with R20.
user avatar
User #2300973 - 28 Jun 20 16:35
I am mainly using Roll20 for my current campaign since I started it there, but I will most certainly try to get Foundry calibrated at some point for a future campaign.
user avatar
User #15045839 - 28 Jun 20 16:35
Would definitely increase pledge for roll20 maps with light and walls already set up
user avatar
User #3623431 - 28 Jun 20 17:05
We started using DM tools because it is free to use but I just got my Foundry license and the next campaign will be on Foundry. It integrates so well with DnD Beyond and is easy to use.
user avatar
User #5598054 - 28 Jun 20 16:58
Roll20 with an online group. Since Roll20 has its own grid, ungridded maps would be nice, as well as layouts that can be combined with the Dynamic Lighting feature.
user avatar
User #35790216 - 28 Jun 20 17:02
You can edit the size of the grids in Roll20. Just match the grid size to the map.
user avatar
User #5598054 - 28 Jun 20 21:20
That's not always possible, sometimes the lines will not align. And why put in extra work when you can have ungridded maps?
user avatar
User #15923483 - 28 Jun 20 16:48
My friends and I have been playing games over Skype for around 4 years and when I started DMing I decided to use Photoshop and simple share my second screen.
user avatar
User #3748601 - 28 Jun 20 16:57
Roll20 as it's the only one that semi-works with a screen reader currently and one of my players is blind. When we play in person, I project the maps and use tactile additions for easy navigation.
user avatar
User #32384572 - 28 Jun 20 16:50
I love the maps, but adding the walls for dynamic lighting is a huge chore on r20 (special shoutout to thieves guild map, it was a labour of love). I usually don't bother, which is a shame because it's great for immersion (and messing with the players who charge forward).
user avatar
User #4398703 - 28 Jun 20 16:39
Oh my God if I had the money I would print them professionally for sure
user avatar
User #28952655 - 28 Jun 20 16:43
I am part of the DWB D&D server and run at least a game a week for the community. All games posted on that server must be run on Roll20 because it's the major sponsor. I haven't gotten into using Dynamic lighting simply because of the amount of prep it would take to apply it to some of the maps you guys release. This isn't a knock on your maps, however. My players LOVE the maps I use. Whenever I have a new player in a session they always comment on how cool they are. If the Dynamic lighting was already set up, however, I would definitely use it. I'd probably up my pledge from $5 to $10 if the lighting was included in the $10 pledge.

Holy SHIT it's Primus! If you haven't read/played the Planescape adventures The Great Modron March and Dead Gods, please do this! Especially Dead Gods. Some of the best D&D (or any RPG) ever created. My party just recently had an audience with Primus, and this map is almost exactly how I described his inner sanctum to them, based largely on the image from page 13 of Modron March. I'm looking at my original hard copy now and I'm just floored by how well you've captured this.

Thank you for sharing this! Now I have to check it out and hope it's not too much hassle to convert for my 5E players :D
user avatar
User #7539784 - 30 Jun 20 13:37
The stories are easy to convert. You'd be safer replacing all monsters with 5e stat blocks though. 2E was very different from 5e in my experience.

User #8820682 - 17 Jun 20 16:55
I would love to see a map where gravity has gone all wonky - kind of like in the Avengers movie where Spiderman was on Titan fighting and saving everyone by jumping through all the terrain flying through the air. I just did something like this for an encounter in a magical area for a homebrew game and my players had a lot of fun, but it was a little difficult explaining the terrain to them in some respects and mapping it was a pain for me.
user avatar
czepeku - 18 Jun 20 11:19
Not sure how that would be represented by a static map but as a GM you can alter the gravity you like for any of the maps.
user avatar
User #7539784 - 17 Jun 20 14:41
Boiling lake prison gives me strong Avatar vibes. Would love to see that map!

Great Library!

Wecome to our grand 7 storey library. For each floor we've created a 'day and night' (even though they're technically subterranean) so there's 16 variations in total for this map!

We wanted the library to be a massive place for your party to delve through, possibly the home of secret and dangerous knowledge or the lair of a studious Beholder or Lich.

We noticed there were a lot of medieval libraries already out there so we wanted to make something a bit more elaborate and art nouveau. This is a lavish place of many wonders, including an orrery, a taxidermy bestiary, a dragon skeleton and an endless pit of books.

Free goodies!

Our friend Griffin over at The Griffon's Saddlebag has provided us with two book items with art and stats that you can have your party discover in the library. We've included these in the zip files.

And our friend Michael Ghelfi has provided a free Library Ambience track for you to use along side the maps. That'll be available for streaming and download for all patrons!

Please visit both of these awesome creators and support their work! They both make fantastic rpg content. If you like what we create i'm sure you'd like their work too!

Kickstarter!

For those who haven't seen it, we currently have a Kickstarter with DM Dave and Paper Forge! It passed it's funding goal in 84 minutes so you're guaranteed to get it now if you pledge. Please check it out HERE and tell all your friends!

Map Contest!

A reminder to everyone that we're running a map contest until the end of the month! You can find all the details here. Take part for your chance to win a copy of Mythic Odysseys of Theros or a full licence for Foundry VTT.

How do we access the Library Ambience track from Michael? The link takes us to his patreon page but doesn't seem to contain the download or streamable link mentioned. Nevermind - found it in my email right after writing this.

These are fantastic. One thing though, the Krono room seems off centered when you switch between the two. If you're doing layered switches, it might look off.

Foundry VTT Adventure - Clash at the Kobold Cauldron 2020-06-14T16:25:40+00:00close

"Something's wrong with the people of Knotside. A few weeks ago, a popular new liquor called Red Claw showed up in the city's many taverns. Anyone that took even a sip of this spirit immediately wanted another taste. At first, these desires were nothing more than cravings. But soon, those cravings grew to obsession. Then obsession turned to violence. Now, the city of Knotside faces collapse as the red-eyed Red Claw addicts stalk the streets, desperate for more."

An Update on our Classic Adventure

Hey everyone. You might remember this adventure from last year which we released with Team Superhydra. Well, its had an update! Its been updated and imported into Foundry VTT so its ready to play without any additional setup. Just gather your party and venture forth! It also has been expanded with a few maps by us as well as more VTT tokens by PaperForge and new tracks by Music d20!

A Game-Ready Adventure for Foundry Virtual Tabletop

This 5e adventure is designed for a party of level 10 characters and will challenge the heroes to discover the mystery of this devilish Red Claw brew. For most parties it will provide between 6 and 12 hours of gameplay.

This adventure is exclusive for our Patreon supporters until July 3 at which point it will be available for all Foundry VTT owners. Download and install the adventure by clicking the Install World button on in the Foundry VTT Setup and Configuration menu and providing the following manifest URL:

https://foundryvtt.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/modules/kobold-cauldron/world.json

Adventure Contents

The initial creation of this adventure was a collaboration between DMDave, Cze & Peku, Paper Forge, It's A DnD Monster Now, and The Griffon's Saddlebag which you can find here. In addition to the original content, the Foundry Virtual Tabletop version of this adventure contains additional music by Music d20, and painstakingly created scenes, actors, journal entries, roll tables, and way more created by Atropos from Foundry Virtual Tabletop.

In this adventure, you will find:

  • 6 memorable scenes including 4 battle-maps by Cze and Peku
  • 21 deadly adversaries and NPCs all with custom token artwork by Paper Forge
  • 3 unique magical items from The Griffon's Saddlebag
  • 25 Journal Entries written by DM Dave which guide you through running the adventure
  • 3 musical scores by Musicd20 for each of the adventure's primary locations.

Contributors

If you haven't already, consider becoming a patron to help support the passion and effort that goes into this work. Quality D&D content gets better when it's supported by people like you! Please consider supporting these contributors on Patreon to fuel the creation of more adventures like this one:

And of course a big thank you to Atropos at: https://www.patreon.com/foundryvtt for doing all the work of setting up this awesome adventure within Foundry VTT for us! If you haven't checked out Foundry VTT please do so! (Also we're doing a map contest right now with a Foundry VTT licence as a prize!)

Printable PDFs Master Post 2020-06-13T18:51:52+00:00close

So we're testing out a new reward for our $5+ tiers and offering printable PDFs of all our maps.

Just like the regular master post, we'll keep this updated with all the PDF files from now on.

To start with we've only added the 3 newest maps. We'd really appreciate it if people could download the PDFs and try printing them out. There are instructions below on how to do that. If there's no issues we'll convert all the other maps and upload them here over the next few days.

Thanks everyone for being awesome patrons and part of this community! We hope these PDFs come in handy for whenever covid is over and you can sit around a table again. :)

There isn't by any chance a localization into any languages (other than english) planned, maybe as a stretch goal? xD

Are all the maps new? or just rehashes of stuff you have published before?
user avatar
czepeku - 10 Jun 20 09:53
As far as we've planned, none of the maps will be new. This is more for the chance of getting nice HD prints of the maps and the adventures/minis/dice to use with them. In terms of new maps, the Patreon is our focus. :)
user avatar
User #36773455 - 11 Jun 20 22:18
I'm wondering; will it be possible to buy at a later date, after the kickstarter is over?
user avatar
czepeku - 11 Jun 20 22:29
Currently the plan is to make it Kickstarter exclusive.
user avatar
User #36773455 - 11 Jun 20 22:45
Well, if possible, then a pdf or something available later would be great. You wouldn't have to print anything new then.
Where did you hear about us? 2020-06-03T18:21:51+00:00

We asked this question a year ago and we're curious to see how things have changed! If you have the time please answer and let us know!

Thanks again to everyone who has become part of our community. No matter where you came from, we're glad you're here now. :)

P.S. The Library won the last map poll and we spent the day brainstorming ideas for it. Hope everyone is looking forward to it!

Saw an album of maps you'd released for free on reddit (one of the dnd map subreddits) and immediately thought: "I gotta pay for these." I'm currently running a between-books adventure for my regular DnD group entirely on your maps, where they play as a bunch of the NPCs they've met on their adventure as a kind of breather from the main story.

Ancient Greek Ships would be great since the new D&D 5e Sourcebook, Mythic Odysseys of Theros, comes out soon and that has a heavy greek/roman influence (more greek than roman)

So many good choices! But how could you not go for beach episode? Every campaign needs one!
user avatar
User #30937210 - 29 May 20 20:07
Having maps that interconnect would be great. The eldritch church has a few variants with portals or bridges. My first thought is, what can I show to my party when they cross that bridge or enter that portal? Having a destination map for the map types with portals would be wonderful.
user avatar
czepeku - 29 May 20 21:34
I suppose the answer to that is just any of our other maps. That's the great thing about portals, they can lead anywhere you want! A lot of our other maps have portal variations so you can always use that for the other end.

KITCHEN OF A GIANT! OH HOLY MOLY!
user avatar
User #5598054 - 29 May 20 22:47
Can you perhaps make smaller lists, i.e. break this list up in to several polls? Some of the more unusual maps rarely get any love because most voters seem to vote for fairly typical fantasy stuff. I'd like to see the Ballroom, Tea House, or Bath House... nothing against libraries, but you see those a lot.
user avatar
User #13857718 - 30 May 20 13:12
This is a good idea! I get why the more generic maps get the votes - it's always useful to have things like libraries and temples, but there are so many maps like that already available. Having things in different settings or that are a bit "out there" usually inspires me for campaign ideas! :)
user avatar
User #5598054 - 30 May 20 17:36

I'd absolutely love a Feywild Theatre, it would be a very central location in my campaign.
user avatar
User #3181846 - 30 May 20 17:22
I think I'd like to see the Asian themed stuff get more love overall. With that said, how about the catacombs underneath an old church, sort of like the catacombs of Paris? Maybe even a variant with a sinkhole opening into it.

Map Remixing Contest 2020-05-29T18:38:36+00:00close

Hey everyone! Hope you all enjoyed the new map! We've decided to try something new and exciting! A patron-only map competition!

Competition Rules

  • Take any of our maps (as many as you like) and use them to make your own brand new map. We suggest using a programme like Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint or Gimp.
  • The competition will last for 1 month (until the end of June), we'll then take all of the submissions and put them together on a poll and let patrons vote on which they think is the best.
  • The winner will receive a license for Foundry VTT or a physical copy of Mythic Odyssey of Theros (a mailing address will have to be provided), both worth approx. $50.

Extra Details

  • Submissions should be JPG filetype only.
  • You can submit your map here. Please create a folder with your name and your map name and insert the jpg to that folder. If you don't want to use your real name, a Discord tag is fine too.
  • Final submission date is 30th of June. Poll will be posted on July 1st.
  • One map submission per person. You must be a patron to enter.
  • Maps must be recognizably new ideas, not variations on the existing map packs.
  • You can share your works in progress at #creators-table on the Discord.
  • We will collect the most voted for maps and provide them on the Patreon as a free map pack.
  • All themes are acceptable. If this proves popular we may run specific themed contests in the future.
  • Most of the Tarrasque pack was not created by us so it is mostly off-limits for this contest but the Mouth, Duoddenum 1 & 2, Appendix and Descending Colon are free to use in this contest.

Examples

Below are two examples that patrons have shared with us before:

Tips and Advice

  • The Mid Air Dragon Flight pack contains a range of backgrounds including open clouds and sea, which can be used for islands and flying bases.
  • The $5 tier City Streets pack contains around 200+ prop assets as well as walls and floors of empty buildings.
  • There are some extra map props also available from the Wizard Tower pack.

Do the elements incorporated in the maps have to be 100% made from materials from existing maps or can we add our own illustration elements?

You can do your own illustrative parts too! Definitely looking to see what you can create Jessie.

Typically, I like the options you have available, so I don't have need to change them. I do have a few I have altered with more of a mold/fungal/infestation syle to fit my campaign. Sadly, it wont let me create a folder to upload into.

The Grounded Castle [24x25] 2020-05-22T22:43:13+00:00close

Hey everyone!

This is another free pack as a thank you to all our patrons. Like the Lightning Rail Tracks and the Casino of the High Seas we released earlier in the month, we wanted to breathe some new life into our our old Floating Sky Castle set of maps. So... we've grounded that castle!

The floors are still divided up by tier as they were in the original set but now there's a grassy, grassy night, snow, night snow and rain variations.

Thanks to some patrons over on the Discord we've also changed two new things:

1. Lowered the file size for each of the maps so they should run better on VTTs.

2. Named the files better and created nested folders so that they're easier to find and use in future.

Let us know if that makes things better for you!

P.S. As Foundry VTT was released today we're doing a licence giveaway over on Twitter here.

Ah, I see now. The $1 reward is two floors of a castle and this continues it. Not sure what I'm gonna do with a roofless, 2 floor castle, but you've done plenty of other useful maps already. I play with my son, and my friend and his son. I've been using several of your maps (Shadowfell castle and egyptian hall which I re-tinted to be blue for the plane of water...) and the boys have commented several times how "cool" they look.
Patreon - New Sales Tax 2020-05-20T18:23:25+00:00

Hey everyone!

This is just a small message to let you know that patrons from the US and some other countries are going to start having to pay sales tax on some patreon pledges starting in July.

This tax is already in place if you're in the EU, so if you're from there you won't notice a difference.

It seems only fair that everyone should be aware of the upcoming changes. So if you want to know more, please check out the official post about this here.

(this would have been a good time to release Hell's Tax Office...)

TSH Adventure: Burrow of the Albino Werecrocodiles 2020-05-19T16:18:06+00:00close

Hey everyone! Here's a new free adventure from Team Superhydra!

Psst... Scroll Down. All of the free files are available for download below.

This adventure is optimized for a party of five characters with an average party level (APL) of 11. A well-balanced party will fare well against the werecrocodiles. Because much of the mission is “hack-and-slash”, having a cleric on hand to heal and remove curses will help make the trip through the burrow much easier, too.

Background

Lately, the Murktown Monarchs have seen their territory encroached upon by a gang of albino werecrocodiles living under the sewers. The werecrocodiles have been arming themselves with magical weapons and killing the wererats wherever they can find them. Some would argue that this isn’t a bad thing. Unfortunately, the werecrocs don’t limit themselves just to the wererats. The crocs have been capturing citizens from all over Murktown and imprisoning them in their secret burrow below the city. Only the wererats know the location. Should a group of adventurers enter the burrow and clear the werecrocodiles out, the wererats are willing to split the take of the werecroc’s treasure stash 50/50.

Overview

This is a dungeon crawl adventure that will take roughly five-to-six hours to play in its entirety. The adventure begins with a Call to Action scene detailed below.

A Team Superhydra Collaboration

This adventure was brought to you as a joint collaboration by these awesome folks:

Where is the "Death Knell" item? It's mentioned in the adventure as wielded by the captain Werecrocodile in room #13, which says the item is described in the Item Supplement, but it's not in there. All I have in the Item Supplement are the Charged Rapier, Realmswarden Greataxe, Spiderbite Daggers, Thwackstaff, and Vain Virtuous Violin.

That's another one of Griffon's Saddlebag items. I'm not sure why that wasn't included, if that was on purpose or not, i'll try and find out.

Hey everyone! This map is for everyone who has messaged us over the last year saying there just isn't enough ancient themed maps out there or desert themed maps out there!

Hopefully this helps all those parties stranded out in the desert looking for some tombs to raid and some mummies to fight. Or a crazy giant Roc hunting the desert wastes.

We've also included a sunken version of the temple for those looking to follow up their underwater jaunts after the Coral Throne map we did.

We're hoping to release either the Eldritch Church or the Lich map next week. So look out for those!

Hum can you explain how you see the roof on this map ? Because it's feel like the back of the map (crypt) has a roof and the rest of the building is without roof . The base and all the variant are amazing !
user avatar
czepeku - 17 May 20 22:14
That's exactly it! We had hoped the shadows would show that but maybe it isn't so obvious.
user avatar
User #4908203 - 17 May 20 23:02
It feels weird to have column without roof ^^ but thats my opinion and im not a temple specialist xD
user avatar
czepeku - 18 May 20 08:31
You're right, it would be! Columns are there to support something usually. But this is meant to be way after it was originally in use. Maybe 1000 years or so, which is why everything is old and faded. We sort of had a 'The Mummy' type idea in our head for its use.
user avatar
User #4908203 - 18 May 20 08:36
Yeah i understand and if i need a roof i can use the night version that cover my needs =)

Lightning Rail Tracks [11x100] 2020-05-03T14:11:13+00:00close

Hey everyone! Miau.

This is another free set of maps, this time to augment our Lightning Rail Trains we made a few months back.

We had a lot of requests for the tracks used in the preview images. The ones we used before were miniature, so we had to remake them to be big enough to print and use in VTTs. Hopefully these are useful to you all!

We've made a day and a night version and the tracks themselves are long enough for a 7 carriage train, but you can always tile the map if you need something longer.

Patrons can get the tracks here.

Instead of a lineup, enjoy this gif:

Hey everyone!

This is a free set of variations for all patrons, for our Stranded Casino map. Although we were happy with our original idea of the ship being stranded and converted into a casino by creative pirates, we thought we'd return to this idea and make the ship sea worthy! (Just make sure not to lose your chips off the side)

All patrons can grab the maps here.

And here's the line up for this extra pack of maps (each version comes with a mast level too):

A few patrons have asked for somewhere to see all the maps listed in one place with all the information for them too. So we've put together a Google Sheets with everything you should need.

You can access it here.

A kind patron has offered to help us keep it updated. So a big thank you to them! If anyone has suggestions for fields to add, comment below. :)

We hope this makes your lives easier! This is probably the easiest way to see which maps have a Spring or Fey variation for example, in case you want to collect a theme for your campaign.

There's a link to this in the Ancient Map Room in case you ever lose it.

In case anyone wants to filter go to "Data->Filter views->Create new temporary filter view". This will allow you to sort and filter on any of the column values without impacting anyone else looking at the file. Note this will not work for the green squares as they do not have values, only formatting. @Cze and Peku - if you want to make these filterable / sortable an easy way is to set the text color to the same green, use a basic value to denote true (like 1), then use conditional formatting to have the square auto-color based on the value 1.

czepeku - 30 Apr 20 16:43
I should have explained this in the original post. If you just click on any of the column heads (like H, O, etc.) and click filter it'll automatically create a new temporary filter for you. If you click on one of the row heads with the colours and go to 'sort by fill colour' it'll sort it for you based on that row.

Do you find you use it to plan what map you're going to make next, as in, make a map you have less of (eg: we need more fey maps, or whatever)?
user avatar
czepeku - 29 Apr 20 23:46
Nah, that stuff comes from brainstorming mostly. :)

User #21346813 - 29 Apr 20 23:50
I know this is nit-picky of me, but that "total squares" column is just glaring at me. If a map is 30 squares/inches by 20 squares/inches, there's a hell of a lot more than just 50 total squares on that map. 600 in fact. Other than me being an ass, this is such a great idea! It also let me know that I've missed a couple maps, so thank you to those who did this and will be keeping this up.
user avatar
czepeku - 30 Apr 20 10:19
I think that column was adding them instead of multiplying them, that was the issue. Fixed it now!

An Adventure for the Shadowfell Fortress Battlemap Pack

Hey everyone! Our friend DM Dave has kindly written up an adventure for all patrons that you can get by downloading the PDF at the bottom of this post. This adventure is built around our recently Shadowfell Fortress pack that you can find here.

Assault on the Umbral Fortress

The Demiplane of Shadow is home to countless spiteful creatures whose cruelty is limited only by their imagination. While it's unusual for shadowkind to band together, occasionally a singular goal will arise that will draw multiple forces together. When this happens, the races of shadow might build a fortress of shadow. United under one dark roof, the creatures of shadow can plan, prepare, and execute their depraved designs.

Where to Add This Encounter

This side trek is designed for three to seven 5th- to 10th-level characters and is optimized for five characters with an average party level (APL) of 5. The Shadowfell Fortress design works best when it is placed at the front of a larger dungeon. Because it requires the characters to charge headfirst into multiple waves of creatures, the characters will need to have access to rest following the siege or, at the very least, plenty of healing supplies.

Epic Adventuring Music

Our friends over at Adventure Music have also provided an awesome track for this adventure called It's All Led Up To This which all patrons can download for free here.

Further Adventures

DM Dave has also made extra adventures for each of our fortress map variations, each one aimed at a different party level. These come with new monsters, player races and more.

Check out all the available content at Dave's patreon here. We'll be working with Dave more in the future so there'll be a lot of applicable content for our maps coming up on his patreon soon!

Chapter 3: Grihoo

This adventure is designed for three to seven 2nd- to 4th-level characters and is optimized for five characters with an average party level (APL) of 3. Characters outside this level range cannot participate in this adventure. The adventure takes place on the island of The Skeleton Key, first featured in the adventure The Flight of the Predator and then in the follow-up adventure bearing its name. However, it can easily be placed on any remote island in a campaign setting of your choice.

Background

The Skeleton Key, a mysterious island hidden at the center of the Ocean of Warna, has just been rediscovered. The island is home to a tribe of warrior women named the Serpent Whisperers. They guard an ancient temple called the Temple of Grihoo. While they have sworn to protect the temple's secrets, none of the Whisperers actually know what lies within its lower levels. The characters, having crash-landed on the island, find themselves at the mercy of these warrior women. In order to learn more about the island's secrets and/or find a way to escape the island, they will need to gain their trust.

How to Get The Files

The adventure itself is 100% free as are many of its assets. Scroll to the bottom of the page and download the files. There are 7 zip files in all.

In addition to the free content provided by Team Superhydra, many of Team Superhydra's members offer optional content that can be added to enhance the game. These optional assets are available with the respective creator's Patreon subscription as detailed below.

Hey everyone! We're back with our Shadowfell Fortress battlemap! This is one of the longest maps we've made so far. We wanted your party to have a lot of land to fight through and space to defend (depending on which side of the bridge you're on).

We made 10 variations this week and they can be found at the bottom of this post!

Our friends over at Adventure Music have made an awesome track to accompany this map which we'll be posting right after this.

Oh and stick around for the next map poll!

Thanks for the great map, it definitely gives the feeling of Shadowfell's oppressiveness.. However can I ask if the separation of colors near the edges of the map intentional? I mean the red and black lines are visibly distorted. If so, can you also provide one that is not so? Thanks.

User #5980819 - 22 Apr 20 03:48
came to ask the same thing - it's actually a bit disorienting and seemed like maybe the layers got moved accidentally. Beautiful maps though and came at just the right time <3

Hello, love your stuff! I updated my membership to $3 so I could get the lava version of this, but it isn't letting me download the tier 2 stuff, even though it says in my profile I am 'Map Scout' level. Does it take a while to update my status or something?
user avatar
czepeku - 23 Apr 20 16:52
Hi Nathan, you've probably still got the '$1' tier selected and have just choosen to give an extra $2 dollars (Patreon allows you to pledge over the stated tier price). If you go to edit your pledge make sure you click on 'Intrepid Explorer'. If that doesn't work, i'd recommend unpledging and pledging again at the $3 tier. This sort of thing is out of our hands but thats the best advice i've got!
