Yesterday was both exciting and exhausting! I've been waiting to shoot this set ever since I had the idea of a Lady Death cosplay which I promptly jumped into action to start collecting all the things I'd needed for it. While ordering props and outfits is fairly easy aside from the waiting time for things to arrive there are other props which you can't just easily get in the mail, like a huge ass throne of skulls lol. I searched online, naively thinking that maybe there was some skulled throne out there that would be perfect for this shoot, but not only could I not find a skull throne, I couldn't even find a normal gothic style chair for under $1000 so what does one do in such a situation, you build it yourself!
I couldn't just build a throne just like that, it needed to be perched atop a podium or platform if you want it to be impressive. So I started gathering the necessary things for both the platforms and the throne. Keep in mind I live in a tiny ass 500sq ft apartment so taking on a project like this almost laughable but I really wanted to make sure I did some justice to Lady Death! After I was through it took me about 1 month to complete the whole thing, luckily with help! I ordered the sword from Dustin at DK Props who kindly threw in the extra and much needed little skull accents for my costume! As usual my day always starts with my full body workout then make up and hair from there. The whole shoot and video took about 10 hours and shooting the whole thing blind (because you can't see shit out of those lenses in case you were wondering!) made everything even more exhausting to say the least, but I really wanted to get this post up for ya's before the end of the month! Sorry I don't have more sneaks in costume but those who tuned into the lens posts got to enjoy a bit and there will be more soon :D Today was spent braking down all my hard work and tossing it in the trash and getting my apartment back to looking slightly less of a hoarders den. Now I've just got my fingers crossed that this cosplay will be worth all the efforts! I look forward to doing many more if this one performs well! My goal for 2020 was to finally rent or buy a house but that sadly won't be happening this year, I just don't feel confident enough to jump into something like that but if cosplay keeps Patron's flowing in the way Bayonetta did I think 2021 will lead me to great things with much more space for building bigger and better props! With that being said scroll down to watch the process captured through images!
