Hello! Thank you for using yiff.party!

We hope you enjoy using it. yiff.party operates on a non-profit basis, and as such, all the server expenses are paid by our users. We don't want to run ads or infect you with crypto miners. We depend on users like you to keep the site running, and to preserve years and terabytes of amazing content—some of which is no longer available from its original creators!

Because of the nature of the site, many users are reluctant to donate. That's OK! yiff.party was created so everyone can enjoy the content we host without any restrictions or paywalls. But if you value the service we provide, and are able to, we—and our users—would be tremendously grateful if you considered making a donation.

Donation progress for July 2020

So far, approximately $0.00 has been raised out of our target of $250.00. We're about 0% of the way there! Please note: this tracker is updated manually—don't worry if your donation doesn't show up immediately!

yiff.party's server costs are due on the last day of each month. So, we need to meet this goal before 31 July!

How to donate?

At this time, yiff.party can only accept donations in numerous cryptocurrencies. Please select a currency below to display the relevant donation address.

Bitcoin (BTC)
Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
Ethereum (ETH)
Ethereum Classic (ETC)
Litecoin (LTC)
Why can't I donate through other means (eg. PayPal)?

Due to the nature of sites like yiff.party, it is very difficult to find payment processors who will accept clients like us. If we were to accept donations via PayPal, it wouldn't take more than a day for someone to submit an abuse report and get our account frozen. Until a viable way of accepting monetary donations becomes available, cryptocurrency will remain the only option.

There are many resources available on how to purchase crypto. For Bitcoin, check out bitcoin.org's page on buying Bitcoin for a list of methods. For beginner Bitcoin users, yiff.party recommends using an escrow service such as LocalBitcoins.

End of Month: June 2020-06-30T16:00:00+00:00

Hello! It's the end of another month. Let's review June's releases.

Patreon Club Releases:

Preview Update/Release:

New Sprite Bases:

On top of these releases, this month's main focus has been the Steampunk expansion. I only have a little bit to finish up (animated stuff: steam and smoke, some gears, doors, etc) -- which I'll be putting together over the next day or two, to finish up the set this week. Planning to have a beta for you guys shortly. Right on schedule! Feels good 🥰

...and then after that, I'll be working on the Dark Woods and Fairy Forest set next month. The one that patrons voted for. Though I might need to take a few days in between-- for some reason there's been a ton of commission work the past week or two (not that i'm complaining!)-- but with that stuff, and the steampunk set, I feel like I've been going non-stop. So this June has been really busy, and it looks like that will continue into July.

But I'm excited to share the next thing with you. Thanks for all your support, I hope that I'm putting in enough work for it to be worth it to you. I wish I could do even more!

New TF Female Base 2020-06-15T15:00:00+00:00

Hello!

Normally, I don't use a female body base for Time Fantasy character sprites. I've always used the original base for both sexes, because most of the design work was done for the individual character (plus-- some ambiguity is useful for the kinds of sprites that I release for general use, it gives more flexibility for users to come up with their own characters).

But I can see how this might be useful for others who are designing new characters in the style... today's release is something that multiple people have asked about in the past. After a special request, I put this together and I'm happy to share it with you here today.

You might have seen an older female variation on this page. Honestly, that version isn't really good-- it's just a sloppy edit of the original base, and it doesn't include the walking animations. Today's update has a completely remade female character base with full four-directional walking animations.

You can see the differences below (the regular TF base in the green box, old vs new female form in the pink box).

Downloads:

I hope that you find this useful. Like other character sprite bases, I'll be adding this to the Time Fantasy website in the near future, as a freely available download for all Time Fantasy users.

------

Last week I shared this reward poll. It looks like we might have a winner-- but I'll be back within a day or two to look at the results. So if you haven't voted yet, now's your last chance.

I'll see you soon. Thanks

Dark Dimension Update (Dark Water) 2020-05-15T20:09:07+00:00

Hello! I have another update for you today.

Today's release is an addition to the previously-released free Dark Dimension set.

This is a simple add-on that includes some dark water designed to work with the Dark Dimension tiles. There's also an animated waterfall.

You can download the tileset here:

If you'e using RPG Maker, then I have the water already organized into a TileA1 sheet. Download the updated free pack on itch, it includes the versions for RMVX and RMMV:

I hope that you find this useful.

Have a wonderful weekend. I'll be back next week with something new.

End of Month: April 2020 2020-04-30T15:59:01+00:00

Hello. It's the end of another month. Let's review:

Patron Club:

Faces:

This is a lot! With all the faces including the full face beta release-- this has ended up being one of the most productive months I've had since this patreon began, in terms of sheer amount of updates.

And that doesn't even count the work that I put in recently on a little side game project with some friends. I'll share that when its released.

I'm going to be taking a short break from working on my larger projects-- just a week or two, and then I'll be diving into the next thing. Of course I'll continue with our regular smaller releases: I already have some ideas for next week! See you then.

Thanks for your support. I'll be back soon with the next request thread.

End of Month - March 2020 2020-03-31T14:00:00+00:00

Hello! This month has been pretty crazy...

Patron Releases:

Faces:

We started the month with these Autotile and Scaling tools from fmoo, and then after that we continued strong.

This month was really all about the faces-- I've been working on them for so long, it feels great to finally put them out there. The plan for now is to continue releasing one new set each week, alongside one regular release (most likely a patron request)-- until the set is finished. There are only 5 sets left for this collection, so it looks like these will be finished by the end of next month. :-)

Anyways, I'll be back next with the monthly request thread. Then after that I'll be back later in the week with something new-- most likely the next round of faces.

Thanks!

Autotile and Scaling tools 2020-03-02T18:49:26+00:00

Hello! I want to share something REALLY COOL with you today.

You probably know that the RPG Maker programs use a special autotile format. It uses "mini-tiles", half-sized tiles that the engine puts together in different combinations to make up full tiles. This means that the RPGMaker autotiles don't work in general engines or programs like TileD.

If you're interested, here's a screen recording I took: this shows the process of how I could manually extend the RPGM autotiles into a general full-tile format.

This process can become time-consuming when working with a lot of tiles, and can be a big hassle to manage.

Sooooo...........

Here is a set of tools used to convert autotiles between the RPG Maker format and a more general format that can be used in TileD or other editors. The converters work with the base tiles at the 16x16 size, so also included are a couple of tools that will automatically upscale any image to the sizes used in RMVX (2x) or RMMV (3x).

You can find them here on itch.io: Autotile Packing Tools by fmoo

It's easy to use by dragging the image file right onto the icon, and it will automatically spit out the exported image right into the folder. Here is a small recording that shows me using the scaling tool:

You can even do it by selecting and dragging in multiple images together. This will save me a lot of time!

These tools were created for me last week by fmoo, and I'm happy to share them with you today. I hope that you find them useful.

---

I might have just one new asset for you this week instead of the usual two-- I'll be back with something later this week-- because I'll be focusing on grinding out the faces. I hope that's OK with you guys: this post sharing these autotile tools will fill the slot for today's release, even if it isn't a traditional asset.

Thanks!

January End of Month 2020-01-31T16:01:02+00:00

Hello! The first month of 2020 was a big one. We started this year strong! :)

Patron Releases:

Nine releases in one month is pretty big, especially since my usual target is 7 or 8. And they're all based on patron requests-- so I hope that this was an especially useful month for you.

On top of all these, I've been working on the promised facesets. I've put myself on a schedule to draw four faces every night: its a lot, but progress is going smoothly. Despite a short delay last week when I was getting my new PC setup, the long-awaited Time Fantasy faces are on track to release as originally planned: sometime next month and in the first week of March at the latest.

We're starting 2020 strong! Let's look forward to keeping this momentum throughout the year.

I'll be back this weekend with the request thread for February. See you then!

Thanks!

Animated Kitchen Oven Fire 2020-01-24T16:00:03+00:00

Hello! I have an extra release for you today!

Yesterday I released these kitchen add-on tiles. The centerpiece of those tiles is a big oven with an opening for a fireplace... well... today I have the fire to put in it!

This is a simple 4-frame animation. There's two variations: the regular fire and a simple simmering ash.

If you're using RPGMaker, you'd animate it by having it turn in a rotation.

I said it yesterday, and today's post was an unplanned bonus, so I'll say it again: have a good weekend! I'll be back next week with something new.

Kitchen Interior Tiles 2020-01-23T15:53:57+00:00

Hello! I have some new tiles for you today.

These tiles were created to fill a popular patron request.

I have some ideas to expand on these, so its likely that I revisit this theme in the future. If you have any more specific requests for these kitchen objects, let me know here or in the request thread.

The above image was made using tiles from these previous releases: Wizard Workshop tiles and Bar tiles. Today's release would also work well with these Food tiles.

As always with my regular tile add-ons, these are arranged in a regular grid and can be easily added into any existing tileset.

Here are the downloads:

I'll be back next week with something new. I should have everything set up by then and back on track to be more productive than ever! Have a wonderful weekend.

Thanks!

Quick Update, Short Delay 2020-01-21T23:47:58+00:00

Hello! (If you're looking for new graphics you can skip this one, just have a little update for you today).

My computer was long overdue for an upgrade. I finally put together a new PC (took a little longer than planned to get going-- was planning to build and set up in one day, ended up building yesterday and then cleaned the desk area today). But things are working well-- I'm using it right now to post this!

But: there's going to be a couple days delay into my usual productivity because I needed to order some displayport adapters for my secondary monitors, which should arrive on Thursday. This doesn't realistically affect too much, but I want to wait until I have my final display setup before I do serious color calibration etc.

Also-- as always with a new computer, there'll be some time to adjust to things, re-install software, get my settings to where I'm comfortable, etc. Will be a couple of days before things are fully up-and-running to my usual workflow.

What does this mean? Just that I'm putting off a few days of work on the faces pack (so far, I've been drawing 3-4 faces every day, aiming for a february release) and other asset pack production.

Nothing should change for regular patron releases though. No reason why I can't make a small normal request with one monitor LOL 🤣. I'll probably have something for you on Thursday or Friday this week, just like I originally had planned anyway.

Just wanted to keep you up-to-date.

Thanks!

Animated Blocking Spikes 2020-01-16T16:15:03+00:00

Hello! I have something new for you today.

Today's update isn't a fulfillment of a specific patron request, but instead it's an idea that I had based on the cave openings release from earlier this week.

These spikes can be used to block off a cave opening. They are designed to align with the tiles that I linked above. It's split into three separate tiles (the sides and the middle), so if your opening uses the single-tile version then you can block it off with just the middle spike.

(I also included a second version with different colors, if you want the spikes to look more like wood.)

These are pretty versatile, since they use transparency, so you can probably use them in all sorts of different situations. I imagine that these would be useful for improving the interactivity of your game world!

Here's the downloads:

I really enjoy creating these sorts of little things that could be used in puzzles or other interactive parts of your game. This is the kind of thing that's simple but really useful for creating games. If you have more ideas for releases like this, let me know in the request thread.

Anyways, I'll be back next week with something new from the request thread. Have a great weekend. See you on Monday!

Thanks!

Extended Cave Openings 2020-01-14T16:00:02+00:00

Hello! Today's release is based on a popular patron request.

These simple tiles will give you more options to create larger cave mouth openings. This release is a pretty straightforward expansion to the existing tiles, so it's not very fancy-- but hopefully one that you will find useful!

These tiles are designed to work with the original tilesets from the base Time Fantasy tileset pack and from the Winter Tiles expansion. Like all my tile add-ons, this is arranged in a simple grid, so you can easily add it to any existing tileset.

This gives me an idea for something else I might put together. That-- or I'll revisit the request thread for some more ideas. Either way, I'll be back later this week with something new. See you then.

Thanks!

The base pack should have water without the borders. It might not be in the rpgmaker exclusive versions because their autotile formats are really weird, but the regular pack should absolutely have it.

World Map Wagons 2020-01-06T20:55:12+00:00

Hello! Today's release is based on a patron request.

These are small versions of the previously-released Traveler's Wagons and Gypsy Wagons. These variations are made to work as a vehicle for the world map.

I also came up with the idea of making a variation where they have the horses in front pulling them. But I don't yet have a small-sized world map horse, so I'd have to put that together first as a standalone sprite. Let me know if you think this is a good idea for a future patron release.

Anyways, here's the Downloads:

Plans for 2020 2020-01-03T22:31:03+00:00

Hello! It's the beginning of the new year.

I like to commit to goals (yearly, monthly, weekly-- even daily). I've found that this helps my productivity incredibly. Spelling out goals, working towards them, and revising them when necessary-- that's a major part of my work-flow. I think that it's one of the reasons why the past few years with this patreon have been successful.

The previous major post like this was the mid-year roadmap update that I posted last summer.

In that post, I looked at the goals I had originally planned for 2019, evaluated my progress, and revised some of them. Today, I want to do very briefly revisit that post before looking ahead to 2020.

The mid-year update promised a few things:

  • Make a Game: I was working on the art for the upcoming game Zookeeper. Progress has been good since then-- the game now has a planned launch date for April of this year. There's also a teaser trailer which you can see here-- it shows a lot of the art that I made for the game: zookeeper trailer
  • Exotic Lands: Huge success, expanded beyond the original idea and released! This set was split up into three separate releases, two small and one large.
  • Icons: Success! We released these in small chunks throughout the year, and compiled them into an ultimate set to release just as 2019 was coming to an end.
  • Faces: I want to call it a failure because they're not released yet-- BUT I did release a full set of faces as a beta release. I'm just not happy with their quality, and I'll be re-creating them over the next couple of months. So for now, I'll say that the status of this one is ongoing... it's the first goal for 2020 though!
  • Unity Optimization: I'm shifting the goalpost a bit for this one... I originally planned to re-release every pack in a special unity format for the unity store. But now, as we're closer to finishing up the main Time Fantasy series, I think I might just do it all at once and release an ultimate mega-pack. So this would be something that I think about towards the summer of this year. Sorry if anybody was really waiting for this one-- it'll still happen, but in a slightly different form.

In that mid-year update post, I also talked about something new...

There are two common requests that I get a lot: 1: individual pieces that can be mixed-and-matched or in a character generator; 2: four-directional attack animations for action combat.
For many reasons, I've turned down these requests. The primary one is that Time Fantasy characters just wasn't designed for this sort of thing-- other reasons stem from that. It's not a good fit for the way that the characters are constructed; especially when there are already so many characters made.
But a new set, built from the ground-up-- designed to be versatile, customizable, fit into a character generator-- and with lots of animations for action combat... something that takes into account everything that I have learned and grown since beginning the Time Fantasy project, a different look for characters but could still fit in stylistically with the existing TF tilesets...
...now THAT is something worth thinking about!

---------------------

Goals for 2020

Okay... this post is getting long... nobody is reading through all this, right? (let me know in the comments if you see this sentence LOL). So-- let's run through these rapid-fire:

Release Goals:

1. Faces

This is my first priority for this year. I plan to pump these out at a relatively-quick pace over the next month or two. This will be the first big release this year-- if these are done by the end of February and ready for a release in the first week of March, I'll be very happy.

2. Steampunk Tileset

This is one of the most-requested tileset themes, and I'll be putting this together as my next release after the faces set. I'm planning on using this set to "bridge" between Time Fantasy and the next thing: I want to release this one with two color schemes (similar to the two color schemes that I used for the icons release, but a little more controlled).

This tileset will be the last major pack release in the Time Fantasy series, and will lead into the sequel style, that I want to being building this year.

(Don't worry, Time Fantasy will never go away entirely-- I'll continue with small releases, requests, etc. But my art style and ability has evolved a lot since the series began, and I'm ready to push the limits and work on the next generation.)

3. New Style Character Sets

See above-- when I hinted at 'something new' from my mid-year update. Right now these aren't even in the planning stages yet, really it's just an idea... but I'm excited. I'm sure that I'll have some more detailed posts later on, and I'll be asking for patron input and ideas.

4. Time Fantasy Remaster + New Style Ultimate Tileset Collection

I want to remaster the Time Fantasy tiles to have better colors-- at the same time, the existing stuff is a mess of releases, and I want to organize and arrange everything into an 'ultimate' collection. It would include a full set of tilesets with the 'classic Time Fantasy' color palette as well as updated colors, and the new character set style would be designed to work with both. This (and the characters) will be a massive project that I expect to dominate the second half of 2020.

I'll revisit this in the future with more detailed updates.

5. Smaller Releases

I will continue to release smaller sets throughout the year. These are things like the Beast Tribes or Animated NPC packs, or the freebie tilesets that I release as goal rewards. I won't plan them too far ahead (especially since they are often based on patron requests)-- but I want to keep up the momentum and release 2 or 3 new ones, just like the past few years.

AND OF COURSE...

I will keep up with our consistent weekly releases (twice-a-week in most cases!) and fulfilling patron requests. As always, that's number one! All of the larger projects are created in the space between our regular weekly releases.

Looking forward to a big 2020!

---------------------

This post ended up being a lot bigger than I'd planned-- it always ends up that though, doesn't it?

Anyways-- I'll be back after the weekend with some graphics. I'll start hitting the patron request thread, and we'll be back on track for the regular release schedule-- so keep them coming!

See you on Monday; have a great weekend.

Thanks!

Yep read it all! Sounds awesome can't wait to see where you go with everything as from the first time I saw it I have always been a fan of your art.

User #13244525 - 3 Jan 20 22:49
of course i read all these things xD sounds good!

User #24223908 - 5 Jan 20 01:51
Definitely read *that* sentence, lol. While it makes me sad that you're discontinuing the Time Fantasy series, as I (and a lot of other people, I'm sure) absolutely LOVE that style, I also want character generator parts and 4-dir attack poses...and I can't wait to see what you come up with! Also, small question--are you discontinuing Omega Modern as well? Or are you considering that a separate thing entirely?
user avatar
finalbossblues - 5 Jan 20 03:08
"Discontinue" is a strong word LOL! Time Fantasy isn't going anywhere, and there will still be patron releases (for example, there are more characters that will need SV battlers, etc) and requests are always open. It's just reached the end of the line for major expansions! Omega Modern was always planned to be a complete set on its own. Some smaller expansions are a possibility if there is high demand for a specific theme, but for now I think of it as complete. Thanks! :)

User #24223908 - 9 Jan 20 08:00
Glad to hear that, still kinda sad but looking forward to what's next!

Take me a lot of time but read all ! i'm in hurry to see all that :)
Patron Request Thread- January 2020 2020-01-01T15:00:04+00:00

Hello! It's the first request thread of the new year! Let's start off 2020 with a strong one!

Post here with an asset request. I'll fill what I can and release each as I finish them. Each requested asset will be released to the whole patron group.

Suggestions:

  • Requests with likes from other patrons will have priority. The more likes, the higher chance of doing it.
  • If I didn't get to a request from a previous month, feel free to post it again here.
  • Image references are always helpful!
  • Animations should be simple: basic 3-4 frames animations.
  • Start small: I'm not going to have time to create a large tileset for an entire region, but a couple of special objects would be OK.
  • Stuff with the most general use will usually be prioritized.
  • I'll be happy to fulfill Omega Modern style requests in addition to the usual Time Fantasy stuff. Just specify if you're looking for a specific style.
  • Off-style requests will have low priority since it won't be as useful to most people (Time Fantasy is the best bet, Omega Modern is OK too).

Note: If you want somethingexclusive to your project (like a unique hero or whatever), you'll have to message me personally and we can work it out. All patrons will have access to the graphics made from these threads.

A sitting character base for Time Fantasy would be a huge help!

I think I said this in November or December, but how about some spaceship/rocket sprites to go with Future Fantasy? I
user avatar
User #5942610 - 2 Jan 20 21:49
On the same note: some sort of machinery inspired by near-future space exploration? I'm thinking ducts and cables and antennae and grinders/mirrors/bins that look like part of a moon colony.

I second this

User #24216502 - 1 Jan 20 21:40
I'd love some versions of the TF characters after they've been turned to stone.

User #16857657 - 1 Jan 20 15:12
Would love some tinkerer type gnome sprites to go with the "potential" steampunk set down the pipeline. I have plans for a steam punk city where gnomes are the prominent race with dwarven engineers. :D

User #16369017 - 1 Jan 20 17:13
What about dwarvern Tran conductors?

Elves and Dwarves side-view battlers, please! :)
user avatar
User #16369017 - 1 Jan 20 17:10
Maybe this should be later on, but some more job sprites, like an woodcutter, or maybe some more lower class character sprites.
user avatar
User #17142960 - 1 Jan 20 16:21
Fallen rock and dead tree bridges, preferably with the animation of them falling.
user avatar
User #16369017 - 1 Jan 20 17:11
I actually made a dead tree using the tree border leaves and the log. But it would be interesting to see more obstacles tiles/ sprites
user avatar
User #17142960 - 1 Jan 20 17:30
Yeah I could probably make them but I would like to see some official ones with a new tree/rock type that also turns into a bridge. I try to think of suggestions that I think everyone could use and not just a few people.

User #4328308 - 1 Jan 20 16:02
I'd love to see more Side-view battler anims for the beast / non-human races. I'm currently using those in my game and am limited to the ones that also had an sv_battle tileset. Excellent work by the way!
user avatar
User #4328308 - 1 Jan 20 17:10
I just found the beast battler anims in the \beast_tribes\100\sv_battler folder...sweet!

User #23583195 - 1 Jan 20 15:11
A vampire liar interior to go with the vampire sprites you made. Coffins, chandeliers, cobwebs, that kinda stuff.
user avatar
User #15805848 - 1 Jan 20 15:02
More indoor furniture pieces please! (More clutter / more kitchen stuff etc) so we can have lots of indoor spaces which really reflect the NPCs :)
user avatar
User #9605112 - 1 Jan 20 18:17
More pets, like bigger and different dog breeds, birds in cages, more cats. This would work for fantasy or modern settings.

User #10396286 - 1 Jan 20 18:21
Attack dogs!

User #25661963 - 1 Jan 20 17:03
maybe some title screens or cafe tiles? (plz cafe tiles). Paris-like area?
user avatar
User #16369017 - 1 Jan 20 17:12
I could see the Paris area maybe being an expansion pack, although I’ve not really seen a French area in an rpg.
user avatar
User #25661963 - 1 Jan 20 17:17
I'm making a non-rpg ish game where you work at a cafe and you can make dishes using monster parts.

3 or 4 different shadow npc characters. They can used to haunt the player, or as antagonists/minions of the dark lord.
user avatar
User #12350774 - 2 Jan 20 04:16
I think turning some omega modern chat layer sprites in the time fantasy sprite would be cool or a sheild break animation.

A beach/shoreline/harbor/docks expansion for the Omega Modern set. Right now the pack is pretty landlocked.
2019 Year End Wrap-Up (with Bundle Download) 2019-12-31T17:00:01+00:00

This year has gone by really quickly... it feels like just yesterday that I put together the last one of these year-end posts. I guess time flies when you're being productive...

This is the third year of this patreon. You can find the previous year-end threads here: 2017 and 2018. In each one of these posts, I like to review some of my favorite releases from through year. I'll try to come up with a top five graphics from among the patron releases (major releases excluded)-- posts that stand out for one reason or another. Let's recap some of my top highlights from 2019.

(If you don't want to read to the end, you can grab the big download here: 2019 Year-End Patron Bundle)

-----

2019 Patron Release Highlights

Not in any particular order.

Steam Train Tiles

The train set was a popular patron request, and it came out as a large tile add-on, way bigger than a normal release. These train tiles (and the wagon tiles that I mention later on) were the "big releases" of the summer this year-- a couple of significant tile add-on releases for patrons-- in between the larger asset pack releases.

I'll likely include these train tiles (and expanding on them) as part of the upcoming steampunk set, which has been one of the most requested sets for a while now-- I'll be working on that in the first quarter of 2020.

Four-Directional Attack Bases

Another of the most-requested releases. Everybody seems to want full action combat sprites! While it's not realistic for every character (Time Fantasy is just too big, and the style wasn't designed with this kinds of gameplay in mind)-- there was so much demand for these that I put together these animation bases.

While the Time Fantasy characters aren't really best suited to this sort of action combat, I do want to revisit the idea in the upcoming year...

Traveller's Wagons

Similar to the train tiles mentioned above, these wagons were one of the "big" patron releases that I worked on this summer. It started as a simple popular request, and then I kept expanding on the idea.

The final add-on sheet is massive, with a lot of variety-- so big that RPG Maker users would need to crop the individual wagons they wanted to use, because all of them together wouldn't fit on a single tileset sheet!

Fishmonger Stall Tiles

I like this one because it started as a simple offhand suggestion in a discord chat-- just a fish and maybe a net. I ended up running with the idea, and I just kept coming up with more variations to the tileset. In the end, it turned out to be pretty big for a regular patreon release. It ended up being one of the more popular add-ons, probably because of the detail and the variety in the set.

Faces Beta Releases

I know, I know... I still owe you guys the full face collection!

In the meantime, I decided to share these beta faces with you. I wasn't happy with them (at all!) and I'm working on redoing them for a proper release (as shown in the linked post)-- but the release of the ugly beta version is a big step. Getting something released-- even if it's not up to my usual quality standards.

(Most of these graphics are included in the 2019 bundle linked at the beginning and end of this post. The four-directional sprite bases and the faces beta are not included in that end-of-year bundle .zip, because their original releases were special packages in .zip files. They should be downloadable from the posts linked above. If any downloads don't work, message me.)

-----

2019 Major Releases

In addition to the constant smaller releases every week on this patreon page, 2019 was a big year for larger asset pack releases too...

Omega Modern

This one doesn't even feel like it was this year, because I'd done most of the work for it in late 2017-- but I guess technically it was released this January, to start off 2019 with something huge.

Future Fantasy

This one was really the first big release of this year, something that I worked on in late 2018 and finished up in 2019. It's a massive addition to Time Fantasy, and the reception has been very positive. It was a lot of fun taking the series into the sci-fi genre! It opened up a lot of new possibilities for your games.

NPC Animations Pack

This one was put together from a bunch of patron suggestions. While technically this is a small expansion pack, I think that it would have a really huge impact on a game. The idea of unique special animations for NPCs really appeals to me-- it's the kind of thing that takes a game to the next level by making the world come to life. I hope that you got a lot of use out of these sprite animations!

Atlantis Tileset

Giant Tree Tileset

This summer, I came up with the idea for an "exotic lands" expansion pack, which would be composed of three small tilesets. The idea was based on the successful "Ruined Dungeons" expansion from last year, which had three different dungeon themes...

But of course-- once I got started, the set kept growing and growing! I had the idea to split up the set into individual releases, and the patrons overwhelmingly supports the decision. As a result, we had two back-to-back free tileset releases: Atlantis and the Giant Tree. And the third set was blown up into a major expansion pack...

Time Fantasy: Japan

This set was never intended to be a full major release, but I kept coming up with more and more ideas-- and of course, not all of the ideas were mine. Patron suggestions were important as well, and this expansion ended up becoming a major release: not just for this year, but as a key expansion to the Time Fantasy series.

I put a lot into this one, and really pushed myself to crunch to release is before the end of October-- and it turned out to be the right decision, as this is one of the sets that I'm the most proud of.

1000+ Icons Complete Set

And finally, the icon set! This one is special to me because it's one that was slowly assembled over the course of the past year or two-- and mostly from patron requests! I'm very proud to be able to release this complete set to finish off the year: it's the perfect collection to cap off a hugely productive 2019!

------

This is the part where I start to get a bit sappy... going on about how much I appreciate your support and I can't thank you enough... how I'm able to live out my dream career and how fulfilling it is for me to be able to provide you with these graphics, how amazing it is that this patreon has had so much success since I first started it in 2017...

But you're not here for that-- you want the download! LOL-- this .zip file includes every graphics that was released this year as a regular patron release (ecept the icon releases, since they were eventually compiled into the full icon set, which will always be available for patrons):

------

So far... there have been 263 posts tagged "graphics" -- that means that since this patreon has started, I've made 263 new asset releases for patrons! That's something that we can be proud of! It's been a crazy three years.

Looking forward to more in 2020... it's going to be a BIG ONE. I have a lot planned-- see you soon!

-----

Let me know what were your favorite releases this year!

(Really-- share your favorites here in the comments. It's not just for the sake of conversation LOL-- This information helps me decide what to release in the future, what kinds of things are the most popular and useful for patrons-- thanks!)

------

Have a fun safe New Year's Eve/Day!

I'll be back soon with the new patron request thread for January!

Thanks!

Great year! You always do amazing work! I especially loved the train set and Japan sets, as they added even more diversity and fit my project needs! Great progress on the tile set/icon front in 2019! Maybe some character/side view/monster expansions in the next year?
End of Month - December 2019 2019-12-30T19:11:48+00:00

Hello! It's the end of another month. Let's review our productivity from the final moonth of 2019:

Patron Club:

Christmas Graphics:

Major Release:

Also: Bubbles and Griff, a game jam entry I worked on at the beginning of the month.

That's a lot! Of course the Icon Set was the big one-- not only was it the final graphics post of the year, but it was a major release that I've been building towards all year long. Feels really fulfilling to have that one finished and out in the world!

Anyways, I'm not going to say too much else... because I have a bigger post coming tomorrow!

The end-of-year review thread will highlight some of this year's biggest releases, and I'll also put everything into a giant .zip file for patrons to download.

Look forward to that tomorrow. See you then.

Full Icon Set Release 2019-12-27T19:18:44+00:00

Hello! This is a big one!

This icon pack was created over the past two years to expand on the small icon setthat was initially released as a bonus inclusion with my "Farm and Fort" tilset pack.Over time, this set of icons just kept getting bigger and bigger, until we reached the1000+ icons that make up this final release.

Many of the icons in this collection were created to fill requests for suggestions from my patrons. This set wouldn't be possible without the support from patrons-- not just the money backing which has allowed me to work on these graphics, but also thecreative input and ideas from my patron community.

Full page on itch.io with screenshots, information, and downloads:

This pack will sell at $6 as a normal asset pack. BUT... this pack will always be available for free as a patron bonus. The icon release will join the likes of Lich Crusades, Ruined Dungeons, and NPC Animations as patron bonuses.

Patrons can download the complete Fantasy Icons pack here: Patron access on itch.io

----

... and that's the final graphics post of the year!

Thanks everybody for a fantastic 2019! I'll be back in a few days with the end-of-month thread and I'm looking forward to putting together a yearly review as well.

See you then!

Christmas Toy Tiles 2019-12-24T19:23:15+00:00

It's Christmas Eve... MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!

I was planning on scheduling these for tomorrow, as a Christmas present for everybody. But-- I figured that most people will be away from their computers, spending the day with their family. So I decided to go ahead and share this post today instead.

This is a simple tile add-on. These tiles are arranged in a regular grid so they can easily be added to any existing tileset.

Downloads:

I've already released these Santa's Elves and these snowman tiles earlier this month. After the holiday seasons is over, I'll be adding those tiles-- and today's release-- to the Christmas Graphics pack as a free update.

--

Have a wonderful Christmas! Cherish your loved ones this holiday season, and please remember to be safe during your travels.

I'm planning to be back this weekend with the final release for the completed Icon set, and then after that will be our end-of-year mega-thread!

Thanks!

Icons Complete Set (BETA for Patrons) 2019-12-20T19:46:01+00:00

Hello! I have something MAJOR for you today.

Earlier this week I made a small update regarding the icons. I've been hard at work since then (stayed up till 5am last night!) to finish up this set.

This icon set contains over a thousand icons. It includes icons that I have been working on for the past two years based on patron requests, as well as new icons that haven't been released before. This has been a huge long-term project and I'm proud to present these collections to you today.

Note: In a full release, I'll have a proper .zip file that will include these sheets as well as individual icon images. For this beta release, I only have the large sheets. This is because the graphics might change depending on your patron feedback, so I haven't yet exported individual images.

Additionally, I put together a simple guide to the sheet. It's not completely in-depth, but maybe it can be a little useful. I hope this makes sense to you:

There's a couple variations of the sets: two different color palette choices. The first is the "full color", which is the normal version best for general use. The "limited color" version is an edited set that has colors to match the more muted colors of the Time Fantasy assets (the limited palette was applied afterwards, so if you notice any glaring ugliness that needs to be manually fixed up, point it out to me).

In addition to the two different color palettes, there are the usual size variations. 16x16 is the regular size, and the other two versions are for RPGMaker compatibility.

Okay, now this is what you came here for! The downloads:

This is a massive release and I'm really happy that I managed to finish it in time for this holiday weekend!

Please give me any feedback or if you find any problems with these icons. At this point, I don't plan on making any major changes or additions, but if you see any errors or mistakes, please let me know so that I can fix it before the final release next weekend.

---

Have a wonderful weekend! I'll be back next week with some more Christmas stuff! See you then.

Thanks!

This is fantastic, and all the new additions are amazing, the insects, the firearms, the instruments, the spell effects. It's like there's just more of everything. I will say that some of the darker objects lose a bit of definition in the limited color pallet, but it all still looks great.

Quick Icon Update 2019-12-18T21:22:32+00:00

I was hoping to release a patron beta for a full icon set today...

As I was starting to prepare it, I did some counting-- we currently have just about 900 icons.

It got me thinking... why not shoot for 1000? If I manage to throw together another 100 icons, then we get to advertise the full set as "OVER A THOUSAND ICONS".

Sounds cool, right!?

Give me another day or two. I'll jam out 100 icons or so, and then I'll be back this weekend with a complete and humongous finished set of icons.

Usually when I want to do something like this and expand a little, the response is overwhelmingly "go for it!" I hope this is OK with you!

I'll see you this weekend. Thanks.

Toss in a couple modern computer related icons too, cd, floppy disk, hard drive, mouse, keyboard. Would be useful for UI and the modern set too. Game controller too, maybe an "nes" like console.

Do we have a hooded cloak, by chance? That's one I've been keeping an eye out for and don't think we have yet. Just in case you need an idea for one of them. ;)

I was thinking some various "spell" or "magic" icons that could be used for many different things. Various light bursts, skulls of different sizes and quantities, bubbles, colored splotches, things like that.

Different types of guns. Working on a diablo 3 inspired zombie arpg. Would love a hand gun, shotgun, machine gun, rifle, ak47, and rocket launcher if you have time!

Here a few more sugestions, if you have the time and place for it: a war horn like Boromir, pirates cutlass, wanted poster, handsaw, wicker basket like litte red ridinghood, a picknick basket, a musik box, wallnuts, hazelnuts, beltpepper, broccoli, a pakchoi, an white union and gold silver and bronze stars a crystal ball and an oclarina.

There's like 30 recolors that I didn't count LOL so I think that's what they are for :)

If you still need any ideas, more fish variants would be great! I'm going to need them anyway, so if you don't I'll make my own recolors, but I figure other people could use them too.

Yes this is an awesome idea!!! One thing that comes to mind is weapons like swords and staves we have more of but axes there’s a lot less kinds Of and same goes for spears. So maybe we can get a couple more custom axes and spears would be great!
Santa's Elves 2019-12-17T17:53:57+00:00

Hello! I have more Christmas Graphics for you today!

Merry Christmas! These little guys will be right at home in Santa's workshop.

If these look familiar, it's because they're based on the original gnomes that I released waaay back in the first month of this patreon. These elves are a small edit of those original sprites.

There's two different color variations:

My focus this week is on finishing up the major icon set.

I spent all day yesterday working on icons (a lot more time than I originally had planned)-- and I'll be working on them more today and tomorrow as well. Most of what I did yesterday involved organizing and color-correcting the old icons, and gathering EVERYTHING into a cohesive master set.

I'll also be adding some more new icons over the next couple of days to flesh out the set and fill in some gaps. I have a list that I'm going to work though, compiled from patron suggestions as well as some of my own ideas.

Either way, I'm planning to come back with the finished (or near-finished!) icon set for a patreon beta release later this week. See you then.

Thanks!

Snowmen Tiles 2019-12-13T14:00:07+00:00

It's the first of our Christmas releases! Time to get into the holiday spirit!

What else is there to say about this one:

🎵 Frosty the snowman
Was a jolly happy soul
With a corncob pipe and a button nose
And two eyes made out of coal
Frosty the snowman
Is a fairytale they say
He was made of snow
But the children know
How he came to life one day
There must have been some magic
In that old silk hat they found
For when they placed it on his head
He began to dance around
Frosty the snowman
Was alive as he could be
And the children say
He could laugh and play
Just the same as you and me
🎵

As always with my tileset add-ons, these are arranged in a regular grid and can easily be added to any existing tileset.

Thanks!

Have a wonderful weekend! I'll be back next week with more.

More Misc Icons (last one!?) 2019-12-11T19:57:25+00:00

Hello! I'm back with some more icons today.

I came up with this set based on a lot of the suggestions and requests that people have submitted for icons: there's some bottles, item pouches, generic box containers, presents, runestones, some animal loot drops like horns and claws, a bunch of masks, and some more female-centric equipment outfits (dat maid outfit yo....!), there's also a championship title belt, an on/off candle, a rose, a bouquet, a root, some generic-looking stones, etc.

I hope that these are useful to you.

Anyways, here's the downloads:

This might be the last set of these... we're reaching the end game!

My plan is to compile everything we have so far into a massive icon set release. It would be released here on patreon as a patron freebie and also put up for sale as an asset pack (similar to the ruined dungeon set or other patron packs).

The icons that we have in total are a bit of a mess-- and this goes all the way back to the originals that were released as a bonus set included with the Farm and Fort release. Those will need to be re-organized with the new set too-- I'm still not entirely sure how I'm going to do it all. But that's the plan for next week-- hoping to have some sort of big icon compilation release the weekend before Christmas. We'll see!

(So that means... if there are any more icon suggestions or anything significant is missing-- last chance!)

---

I have one more release for you guys planned for this week. See you then!

Thanks!

Icon resquests you are free to take or ignore based on preference: Empty and full orb icons (don't know how to describe it, think materia slots). Also, smol b&w icons like in the FF games.

a quick character sprite 2019-12-09T22:31:35+00:00

Hello there. I'm back with a small bonus release for this evening.

I'm working on some icons to release this week. In the meantime, here's a little bonus sprite. Extra character sprites are always helpful, especially if they can work as NPCs to fill up your game world.

I hope you find some use for him.

Swimming/Bathing Base 2019-12-08T16:01:00+00:00

Hello, I have something today thats been requested by patrons.

At the end of November, I released these hot springs tiles.

In my mockup promo image for those tiles, I included a character in the water. Patrons showed some interest in a character base to put sprites in the water, so I quickly put something together for a release today.

It's a pretty simple animation (the head just bobs up and down) that I made to go with the hot springs tiles, not a full-on swimming animation, but it could probably be used for swimming and look OK. It should be very easy to work with-- just copy the head of your character onto this and you're good to go!

I hope that you find this useful.

Anyways, I'll be back later in the week with something new.

Thanks!

If you're using MV, there is a trigger you can set to change the active sprite set. There is also a way [I can't remember if it's base or a plugin] to set a trigger to a region.
Japan Stairs Extension (small add-on) 2019-12-05T01:42:29+00:00

(UPDATED, see below) Hi, this is a really quick one based a patron idea.

These stairs from the original Japan set were designed to work with the boardwalk/decking, and so I didn't think to make them any taller than one tile. As you can see here:

But in the interest of flexibility and ease-of-use, I just put together a small extended set that will allow you to make taller stairways.

UPDATE: I've added a second set of stairs to the sheet. This set is based on different stairs from the interior tileset, tiles that are designed to tile properly. I've modified this version to match, so if you need tile-able stairs, these are the ones you can use.
Since this was a simple addition, I've just added it to the same sheet and overwritten the files. Download them again to get the new tiles (hard refresh if you need to). Thanks!

This is a small add-on arranged in a regular grid. It can easily be added to any existing tileset. I hope you find this useful.

And I'll end with the same note from the today's earlier post:

I'd like to be back with one more release this weekend (I want to make some more icons to finish up the big icon set before the year is over! (if you have any more specific ideas or requests for icons, now is the time)) -- but I'm going to be going to my parents house to help them with some work, so we'll see how much time I have. If not this weekend, then I'll definitely be back with some new graphics for you next week. See you then.

Yeah, they can't tile properly because they weren't originally designed to be repeated. This is the best we can do without redesigning them completely. It can't be helped. There's another variation on the terrain-layer sheet that is designed to tile repeatedly though. That might work for your needs
Octopot Monster Sprite 2019-12-04T19:16:23+00:00

Hello! I have a fun new animated sprite for you today!

In this month's request thread, there has been some interest in more sprites based on the Tyler Warren monsters. He has a lot of fun designs, so I'm happy to release this for you today.

There are two variations: the original and a secondary recolor. I hope you find a good use for this guy!

Bubbles and Griff (Astrojam Entry + Retrospective) 2019-12-02T15:05:08+00:00

Hello! Over this past weekend I participated in a game jam!

The Lost Cartridge Jam (Astrojam) was the first annual game jam hosted by Astrojone. I'm close with the Astrojone guys-- I've worked with Quackgyver on a game jam in the past, and I'm doing the art for the upcoming game Zookeeper.

I like to participate in at least one game jam or contest each year (last year around this same time, I spent a month working on Izel's Observatory, and the year before that I made Walljump Lawnmower for a weekend jam). Enter the Lost Cartridge Jam (originally called the Astrojam, which I like better!)

Here's my entry: 🐠 Bubbles and Griff 🐶

  • Genesis-inspired run-n-gun platformer, created in one weekendfor the first annual Astrojam: Lost Cartridge Jam.
  • Benry has been kidnapped! It's up to GRIFF THE BEAGLEand BUBBLES THE GOLDFISHto fight their way throughHeck City to save theirmaster!

The original idea for the game has a lot more going on. But such is the nature of game jams-- in the extremely tight time frame, I had no choice but to cut cut cut!

The end result is... playable. It's probably loaded with bugs, and many features are completely nonfunctional (when you die, you don't lose a life-- the "x03" is hard-coded into the HUD!). The game consists of just one level-- a single level that I threw together in the last hour before the deadline!

Genesis Aesthetic

The "Lost Cartridge" theme is a fun one: make the game look like it could have been made for a pre-00s console. Other entries look like Game Boy or NES games. I wanted to play with the Sega Genesis aesthetic, a decision that was probably too ambitious.

Most of the jam time was spent on the graphics (if nothing else I am proud of the general aesthetic and how the game looks). I spent the first day of the jam working on the player character's sprite animations, a basic tileset, and the background.

I put a lot of time into making the background city, and getting it to look right in-game. Certainly way more time than I should have, considering this was a 72-hour jam. (But I think it looks good, so it was worth it. 😉) There's three different "chunks" of city buildings, and the game generates a random skyline using them. A parallax effect makes use of the night sky in the back and the mountains front of the city. I wanted to make a few more different building variations, but I'd already spent too much time on the graphics without even starting to make an actual game!

Scheduling Fail

Gameplay-wise, the end result is extremely basic. The second day of the jam was spent putting together the basic movement and controls, collisions, etc-- as well as the title menu and the scanlines overlay.

The third day was shorter than I had originally planned, too. When I was first coming up with my list of goals for the weekend, I'd budgeted for a midnight deadline. I'd completely forgotten about the time zone difference. The actual deadline was 5 hours earlier.

It's my own fault for not paying attention when I was scheduling my goals for the weekend. Though as I got stressed out when the deadline got nearer, it was cathartic to blame Quack and shit-talk him for being a foreigner. 🤣

I realized my mistake towards the end of the second day, so I was able to adjust my plans by cutting out more content: no intro scene, no background music, no victory screen-- when you get to the end of the level, you are abruptly thrown back to the title screen.

I'd planned to make rocket launchers for the enemies, and the player would have to dodge or shoot down incoming projectiles, but had to cut that too.

Bubbles the Goldfish

When I first came up with the game concept, Bubbles (the fish) would ride on the dog's back and carry the guns. In an ideal full version of the game, Bubbles would be the star of some shmup-style bonus levels as well.

I knew early on that I wouldn't have the time to properly animate him onto the player character, so I'd decided to use him as a checkpoint.

Of course, as the deadline got closer and closer, I didn't have time to program a checkpoint system. ...or any sort of respawn system (not to mention the frozen lives counter and lack of game overs) -- when you die, the level just restarts, so you lose any score or weapon pickups. I'd wanted the weapons and score to carry over upon death-- but all of this was had to be cut because of the five hours that I "lost".

In the final jam submission, Bubbles sits in the background, watching the player from his fish bowl. He stealthily refills your health as you run by him, since I didn't have time to properly make any effect for interaction.

Endgame

As you can imagine, the final few hours before submission were a total rush.

At one point, I seriously thought that I wouldn't enter. I was being really hard on myself for the time zone mistake, and for spending so much time working on the fun graphics stuff over prioritizing a playable game.

I ended up doing something that would seem counter-productive: I walked away. Took a few minutes to go outside, took the dog for a walk. Got some fresh air. I was only away from the computer for five minutes or so-- but it helped tremendously. When I came back inside, I was feeling better about myself, and I'd decided to do what I needed to do and submit the game.

I uploaded Bubbles and Griff within the final hour before the deadline.

Whats Next

At some point, I want to revisit the game and give it some much-needed polish. It would be really nice to eventually add the original ideas that I had-- stuff like Bubbles holding the guns, gun fusions, enemy projectiles, shmup bonus stages-- even just some more levels with more visual variety (and better-designed with time for real playtesting).

Anyways...

For the immediate future, I'm going to take a few days off and recover. Feeling quite burned-out from a weekend of hardcore game jamming-- but at the same time, I'm proud of what I managed to put together.

I hope you enjoy Bubbles and Griff. Thanks for taking the time to download the game-- and for reading this little retrospective.

---

I'll take a few days to relax before I come back with new graphics and fill some patron requests.

Thanks!

Man, that's awesome. Think I saw a video about a game jam. The guys went in and created a random game from scratch in a few days or something, and the judges compared which games were the winners. You sir, found what you really enjoy doing and made it work, well done!
Patron Request Thread - December 2019-12-01T18:28:57+00:00

WOW!~ 2019 has just flown by! Its the final request thread of the year!

Nov 2019 - End of Month Review 2019-11-30T15:00:03+00:00

Hello! It's the end of another month. Lets review our productivity this November:

Patron Club:

Major Releases:

That's a lot!

I'm especially proud of the Japan set release-- it never would have been possible without the support from the patrons. Remember when the original idea was for the Japan tiles to just be a small part of a compilation set? And we ended up expanding that idea into three releases: two small free tilesets and one large expansion. I asked for your input before making that decision-- and you guys made the right call. Thank you :)

Looking at this list of releases-- this month might be one of the best since we started this patreon! It'll be tough to follow it up, but I'm looking forward to keeping the momentum going through the end of the year!

I'll be back tomorrow with the monthly request thread. The last one for 2019! See you then.

Thanks!

Also, some people in the (unofficial) discord chat have put together a collection of graphics they have made to go with the Time Fantasy style. This is unofficial, and I haven't looked at it in detail myself, but I hope you can find it useful: Community Pack Download

As with all my tileset add-ons, this sheet is arranged in a simple grid so it can easily be added to any existing tileset. I've also included the set arranged into the RPG Maker format.

Downloads:

I hope you find these tiles useful.

---

That's the last release I have planned for this month. Hard to believe there's just one more month in this year. Time has really flown! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow!

I'll be back for the end-of-month review this weekend.

Thanks!

I was hoping you'd do this set! Any chance you'd release a sheet of bathers (or a template) like the one in the screenshot? Thanks!
Skills Icons 2019-11-22T14:00:05+00:00

Hello, I have some more icons for you bast on a popular patron request.

Today's icons are mostly for weapons-based skills. I hope you find these useful.

Downloads:

There will be only one or two more updates with icons before the icon set is finished and ready to be compiled. So if you have any suggestions or requests for icons, now is the time. Please let me know in the comments here or in the request thread. Thanks!

Have a good weekend. I'll see you next week with something new.

Thanks!

These are so useful! Another one that comes to mind would be some brownish, undefined parcel for a simple fetch quest. Seems like something most RPGs have as inside it could literally be anything.

The link for Miscellaneous 1 keeps taking me to a what looks like some sort of home improvement website? Not sure what's going on there?

I can confirm the link for Misc 1 is broken. Didn't take me anywhere but it did return No Site.

Nice work! I would love a revisited Pointer Cursors, but with a gauntlet instead of a glove, for that good old Infinity Engine vibe.
Poison Water Updated 2019-11-19T18:11:48+00:00

Hello! I have some more extras for you today. :)

This morning I shared these animated poison water tiles with you. Patrons made a couple of simple suggestions-- so I figured that I would go ahead and put those together quickly.

The first addition is a poison waterfall. Really, it's nothing special-- I just recolored the original waterfall to use the same color as the poison water. Since the original sheets had some empty space, I just added the waterfall into there. I've updated the tilesheet and overwrote the original sheets to include the waterfall tiles.

Downloads (updated):

Secondly, I made a simple recolor so there's an alternate variation. Here are all the same tiles, but this time with a creepy green color!

Downloads (green poison):

I hope these are useful!

Sorry for blasting your inbox twice in one day LOL.

Thanks!

No need to apologize for drawing more! I've started playing with some of your tiles using Unity. Do you have any suggestions/best practices for Unity? I figure it's best to use the largest versions of the images (MV) and the new Tilemap part of the engine lets you create tile palettes, but I'm not sure of the best way to handle multiple layers.
user avatar
finalbossblues - 19 Nov 19 20:22
I'm not familiar with unity so I can't say anything about it yet. I bought a tutorial course so I can learn more about it just for this kind of thing, but I probably won't have any confidence with unity until next year. Thanks

The way that I do it is I create multiple tilemaps and then create different sorting layers. Then choose the sorting layer for each timemap that you want it to be sorted on, so the ground will be rendered first, then trees and obstacles, etc. Creating different tilemaps and then sorting them appropriately should get you where you want to go.

Animated Poison Water 2019-11-19T15:00:00+00:00

Hello! Today's release is based on a popular patron request!

This purple poison water is animated to look like gross bubbling ooze.

There's a bunch of animated auto-tiles for you, with the normal grass and dirt borders. There's also the stone border from the koi pond in the Japan set, as well as the grass from the Jungle expansion set.

I've included the tilesets for you in a regular tilesheet format as well as the TileA1 format for RPG Maker. I hope you get a lot of use out of today's release!

Downloads:

I'll be back later this week with something new. See you then!

Thanks!

Fishmonger Tiles 2019-11-14T15:00:03+00:00

Hello! I have some new tiles for you today.

These tiles were originally based on a small discord request for a hanging fish. I expanded them... maybe I went a bit overboard! These tiles should give you plenty of options for creating a port or fish-market, to give some more variety to your towns or cities. I hope you get a lot of use out of these.

These tiles are based on the old marketplace stalls tiles. These are designed to work with those.

This tile add-on is arranged in a regular grid so that it can easily be added to any existing tileset.

I'll be back with something new next week. Have a good weekend. :)

World Map Addons (Tree and Atlantis) 2019-11-12T14:00:04+00:00

Hello! Today's release is another one based on popular requests.

These tiles are designed to work with the existing world map tileset. These would represent the newly-released Giant Tree and Atlantis free tile expansions.

Note: The TileB sheets are formatted to work in RPG Maker. I added these tiles onto the blank spaces from last week's release, so the sheet includes the world map stuff for the Japan set as well as today's tiles.

I hope you find these useful.

I have another release planned for later this week-- see you then! Thanks!

World Map Japan Add-on Tiles 2019-11-07T22:35:05+00:00

Hello! Today's release is based on a popular patron request!

This is a simple add-on to the world map that can be used to represent locations from the newly-released Japan Tileset expansion.

Like all my add-on releases, these are arranged in a simple grid that can be added easily to any exiting tileset. This time, I've also organized it into a format that's compatible with RPG Maker, so I've included those too.

Faces Update (+ Big Beta Download) 2019-11-04T22:24:25+00:00

Hello! I know I said that I was going to take a few days off-- but I ended up spending all day today and yesterday working on something that I really owe you guys... FACES!

I have made too many updates on the faces over the past year, and I haven't really delivered much.

The big reason for this is that I keep changing the style-- I'm never happy with what I have! It's no secret that higher-res illustrations are a bit out of my comfort zone: I prefer to deal with "game-pieces" like sprite animations or tilesets. So the faces have been a challenge for me, especially since I really don't want to release something that I think isn't up to a standard of quality.

I have (AGAIN) come up with something new, which I think will be the final style to deliver on the faces...

I'll get into a preview of that a little bit later on in this post...

But first, here's a big fat download of faces:

These are a previous style that I'm calling "beta art" for the final faces set. The download includes 104 faces (the characters from the base character pack and the monsters expansion pack).

There are multiple problems with these-- notably they are very cartoony, blurry from awkward down-scaling, and the colors don't really match well with the Time Fantasy palette.

Still, they're HERE-- and you are welcome to use them as placeholders for the time being, until the final set is ready for release.

Now-- what WILL the "final" faces look like?

This is the process that I've settled on over the past couple of days:

These are (step 1) painted in photoshop at the final resolution (48x48) so that we can avoid the issue of awkward down-scaling. Then (step 2), they are exported with a limited color count that photoshop handles automatically-- somewhere between 16 and 24 colors, depending on the face. Finally (step 3), I clean them up manually at the pixel-art level. You can see the final results in the third column of the image.

Pretty sure this will be the final look for the faces! These are more in line with the Time Fantasy style, and use the same basic color-feel, so they won't look out of place like the beta faces above.

Please let me know your thoughts, on these final faces and/or on the beta ones.

---

Anyways, now that the Japan set is finished: these faces will be my priority for the next release. I have hopes to finish them before the year is over -- but there are a lot of them, so we'll see...

Anyway, I'll be back later this week with something new. The month is young, so keep the requests coming.

Thanks!

Total noob question, but do you also perhaps have the beta faces with a transparent background? That would help a lot for use in MV.
user avatar
User #23416261 - 5 Nov 19 21:34
These look so good! Do you have any plans to release "step 1" and "step 3" separately? Personally, I love the art in "step 1" before the color palette reduction. That smooth shading is beautiful!
user avatar
User #15805848 - 5 Nov 19 00:50
With all due respect, I think these faces are much better but they still don't feel like they belong in the Time Fantasy set. Have you tried making the pixels more obvious? (Aka have the faces made up of bigger squares? These still feel too 'painted')

TF JAPAN - Release 2019-11-03T00:27:21+00:00

Hello! I'm happy to share this release with you today!

Information and screenshots on itch.io:

Here's the download key for current patrons:

-----

Important note on patron download keys:

New releases get a patron download key when they are first released. Patrons at that time can then download them for free. This rewards those who are already patrons before new packs are released. As long as you are a patron -- you'll get access to the download key for any packs at the time they are released.

New patrons are welcome to download these packs if the link is still available in the archive, but it isn't guaranteed to always be available.

This release keys will be revoked after 2-3 months.

That way, latecomers can still have access to the downloads, but they won't be up forever.

-----

I hope you enjoy this release and I look forward to seeing what you do with it!

Thanks!

Patron Request Thread - Nov 19 2019-11-01T14:50:18+00:00

Good morning! It's the beginning of a beautiful November!

1. There is a kit for the interior of the church (organ, stained glass, benches), but there is no church building itself. It would be nice to see a set for the church building and other paraphernalia. 2. I would also like to see sets with trees and shrubs. 3. There is not enough kit with port buildings and related attributes. 4. There are interior sets for the ruins, so it would be nice to see the ruins outside.
user avatar
User #23583195 - 4 Nov 19 04:05
You can make a church using the modern_tileB_house1 to 6 tilesets. You can take the interior stained glass windows and put them on the outside of the church. It looks pretty spot on if you do.

End of Month: October 2019 2019-10-31T21:59:50+00:00

It's the end of another month!

First off, I want to say thanks for all the wishes for Human, who had a rough weekend last week when he had to go to the hospital for a snake bite. But he is all better now and happy to be home. Thank you!~

Now, as for the rest of this month. Check out all that we got done:

Patron Club:

Holiday Freebies:

Other:

I spent a lot of time this month working on the upcoming Japan Set. The set is almost finished. As of now, all the tilesets are complete! This weekend I will be adding the finishing touches-- animated sliding doors, some bonus character sets, exporting and organization-- and we're on track for a release in the first month of November! I'm excited to see your reactions to this one-- and everything that you create using it!

This month I also did something new with this Mapping Tutorial. People seem to really like it-- let me know what you think, and if you want to see more like this. If you have any requests or suggestions for mapping tutorials or guides, let me know.

Lastly-- the Day of the Dead holiday graphics were a lot of fun. These were probably unexpected, but I think that people will enjoy them. Its a different style for the Halloween season. I'll be adding them into the Halloween Free Graphics Pack later today and updating that.

Have a safe Halloween tonight! I'll be back tomorrow with the Request Thread for the new month.

Thanks!

You knew that I had more, right? Of course! These sprites build on the Day of the Dead skulls that I released yesterday.

This is a free holiday release that is available to everybody.

These are arranged in a simple animation sheet that's compatible with RPGMaker. Other engines should be able to make use of it too.

I'll be back later with an end-of-month thread.

Have a fun and safe Halloween! Enjoy the Day of the Dead!

I was planning to finish the Time Fantasy Japan set this weekend and put it all together for a release on Halloween next week. It looks like there will be a little delay.

The delay should only be small -- you can expect the set to be finished in the first week of November. Today I want to share with you the reasons why.

First off-- bad news from today. Human the dog got bit by a copperhead snake.

We rushed him to the animal hospital, and he's gonna be OK. They're keeping him overnight and I'll pick him up tomorrow morning. This was very scary!

As you can imagine, I haven't gotten any work done today and its unlikely that I'll do much tomorrow.

Today's goal was to finish up the interior-objects tilesheet for the Japan set, but I'll probably put that off until Monday.

On top of that-- the set has been expanded a little. I know -- it's not a surprise! LOL, this seems to happen with everything that I make.

I had a lot of really great suggestions and ideas in the discord, so when I was working on the tiles earlier this week I decided to expand the interior objects tilesheet into two sheets: one for regular interior stuff and another for shrine stuff, with statues etc.

Here's a little preview of some of the interior stuff. You can imagine why it would take up a full sheet-- pushing my shrine stuff onto a second sheet to fill!

I hope this little preview is enough to keep you excited -- and to prove to you that I've been working hard on this set. I'm very much looking forward to releasing this when its finished.

I'll be back after the weekend with another update.

Thanks!

Ahhw, I wish Human a speedy recovery! When I saw the word "snakes" in the title this made me think a snake tile (like a character sprite) would actually be a pretty cool addition to the TF animal collection :) Let's just hope they don't bite the dogs :(

No worries! So sorry to hear about your dog. We'll probably be losing ours in the next month or two, as well... he has been very sick, so I know what you're going through. Our pets are family! I hope Human recovers well!
