Hello! Thank you for using yiff.party!

We hope you enjoy using it. yiff.party operates on a non-profit basis, and as such, all the server expenses are paid by our users. We don't want to run ads or infect you with crypto miners. We depend on users like you to keep the site running, and to preserve years and terabytes of amazing content—some of which is no longer available from its original creators!

Because of the nature of the site, many users are reluctant to donate. That's OK! yiff.party was created so everyone can enjoy the content we host without any restrictions or paywalls. But if you value the service we provide, and are able to, we—and our users—would be tremendously grateful if you considered making a donation.

Donation progress for June 2020

So far, approximately $0.00 has been raised out of our target of $250.00. We're about 0% of the way there! Please note: this tracker is updated manually—don't worry if your donation doesn't show up immediately!

yiff.party's server costs are due on the last day of each month. So, we need to meet this goal before 30 June!

How to donate?

At this time, yiff.party can only accept donations in numerous cryptocurrencies. Please select a currency below to display the relevant donation address.

Bitcoin (BTC)
Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
Ethereum (ETH)
Ethereum Classic (ETC)
Litecoin (LTC)
Why can't I donate through other means (eg. PayPal)?

Due to the nature of sites like yiff.party, it is very difficult to find payment processors who will accept clients like us. If we were to accept donations via PayPal, it wouldn't take more than a day for someone to submit an abuse report and get our account frozen. Until a viable way of accepting monetary donations becomes available, cryptocurrency will remain the only option.

There are many resources available on how to purchase crypto. For Bitcoin, check out bitcoin.org's page on buying Bitcoin for a list of methods. For beginner Bitcoin users, yiff.party recommends using an escrow service such as LocalBitcoins.

Basement Flood and Mask Progress 2020-05-31T20:29:35+00:00close

Slowly getting things back on track here! Took a bit, but I got all the hard surfaces that were affected in our basement cleaned and disinfected after the flood. Our landlord came over and we pulled back the carpet and removed the foam pad under it. The carpet itself seems fine, but the pad's going to need replacing. He's having someone come tomorrow to do that. If all goes well, I'll have my basement living space back by tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully we won't get any more crazy rainstorms like that, at least for awhile.

There isn't a whole lot we can do to prevent water from backing up if it rains that much. There's no sump in this house. Once the hydrostatic pressure hits a certain point, it'll just come out the floor drain.

Since I can't do anything else in the basement until the carpet people have done their thing, I dove back into finishing the masks I was working on before the basement flooded. I'm roughly half-done with this batch (they just need elastic and wires), and will be mailing some out tomorrow.

Basement Flood 2020-05-19T21:51:34+00:00

I've mentioned it elsewhere, but figured I should drop an update here, too. I was excited to get working on art again... aaaand then Mother Nature dropped almost 8" (roughly 20 cm) of rain on us in two storms over a four day period. Despite pumping out as much as we could, our mostly-finished basement still flooded, so my life is pretty much on hold until that's cleaned up.

Carpet go squish. I've spent most of the past couple days sucking the water out and moving furniture so I can shampoo the rug, which we're hoping will dry out. We have a couple of fans running and a dehumidifier pulling as much moisture out of the air as possible.

This is after we washed most of the dirt back down the drain. I still have to clean and mop the utility spaces, but the carpet is the larger worry right now. If it won't dry, it's going to have to get ripped up and replaced, and that's a huge pain in the ass, especially in the middle of a pandemic. x_x Landlord will take care of whatever needs to be taken care of in the long run, so I'm not worried about that.

Honestly, if it means living without carpet for awhile, I'd rather do that than have a musty/moldy one, but for now I'm gonna try and get it clean and dry.

Oh, yeah, and today's my birthday. u_u

Masks 2020-04-12T19:53:19+00:00close

Finally gotten to the point where I'm pretty confidant with this pattern, so I've been making cloth masks for folks in my general orbit. I want to extend the offer here, too.

I'm not sure I can send them internationally, but at least for folks in the US, if you need cloth masks, and you can't get/make your own, let me know. Just PM me an address and I'll send you a couple. This goes for both folks supporting me and just following my Patreon. I'm not asking for anything in return. I'm doing this because I happen to have some fabric, tools, and basic knowledge of how to operate a sewing machine, and I need to do something to help.

I'm planning to keep doing this until I run out of fabric, or the post office collapses and I can't mail stuff anymore, whichever comes first. c.c;;

I'm a little bit limited on fabric colors and patterns because it's basically what I had laying in my scrap bin. The solid red, dark blue, and green are canvas, so they make for VERY hefty masks. The rest is cotton. If folks have color prefs, let me know and I'll do my best to accommodate. I've been lining them with very thin flannel for softness, and this pattern has an inner pocket for optional added filter material. The elastic loops are hair ties, and can be removed and replaced with cord or wire to make adjustable ear ties, or used with these nifty bands my wife's started making with our 3D printer (will be included).

So yeah, need a mask? Let me know. Everything sucks right now. If this one small thing I can do helps even a little, I'm gonna do it.

Smol Update 2020-03-21T16:11:54+00:00

So the world's a bit crazy right now. Understatement, I know. I'm home and safe, still trying to convince my lungs to get over their latest bout of bronchitis. My wife was out visiting friends in Seattle before things went nuts, and she's on her way home now. I've spent a lot of the time frantically cleaning so my brain can't melt itself into a puddle of anxiety. She should be home tonight, at least.

My state went to a mandatory shelter-in-place order starting today. We're allowed to go to the grocery store, pharmacy, or get gas, and we can take walks outside as long as we maintain a 6' distance from other people, but otherwise must stay home. I'm really hoping having my wife back with me will let me shake up some brain space to draw again. Anxious energy is great for mindless tasks, but not so much for creative stuff. x_x

Winter Kimonos - Finished 2020-02-21T23:38:49+00:00close

Aaaand here's the final version of this one, along with some detail shots! I probably made extra work for myself by turning it into a night time scene, but this was one of those things where I had this image in my head, and I couldn't get it out, lol. Background was originally a (daytime) photo I took in the Japanese Friendship Garden in Idaho Falls, Idaho late last year. Had to do a lot of tweaking to remove some of the more obviously not-Japanese bits from the photo (like the LDS temple that was originally peeking through the trees) but I'm pretty pleased with the results!

When Tree asked me to add Zanny to this, I really wanted to capture the feeling of a couple of friends walking home from a New Years festival, all decked out in fancy winter kimonos and still carrying some sweets from the booths. I really like the pieces that feel like private moments that are part of someone's story. They're some of my favorite things to draw.

Neuro Update 2020-01-10T20:35:56+00:00

Saw the neurologist this morning, and now I have appointments for THREE different MRIs and a lumbar puncture. Wheee!

She said my optic nerves didn't look too bad today, but that we definitely need to do MRIs and a spinal tap to rule out the possibility of a brain mass or an infection. So hopefully I'll know more in a couple of weeks.

So... that's gonna be fun. At least I have the MRIs all scheduled for the same day, so I'll be able to get them done in one go. Trying not to stress too much over stuff.

Apologies if I'm useless for a bit. I had to put down one of my cats today, and I'm not in a great head space. She was old and sick, so it wasn't entirely unexpected, but it still hurts. I'll miss her yelling and stomping and headbutts. She didn't start out our cat. We took her in when my brother in law had to move and couldn't keep her in his new place. But we had her and loved her for twelve years, and she was a good cat.

Papilledema 2019-11-14T06:20:05+00:00

The older I get, the more it seems like this stupid meat suit wants to fall apart on me. x_x

Okay, so the GOOD news is that the Radial Tunnel I've struggled with most of the year is much improved. I still have to be careful, but my hand/wrist/arm aren't burning and tingling all the time.

The BAD news is that I have a problem with my eyes, and we don't know the root cause yet. Papilledema is a fancy name for swelling around the optic nerves because there's too much fluid where there shouldn't be, which is messing with my vision. As of right now, it's not severe, and we don't know yet if it's permanent, but it's progressive, which means it'll get worse unless the root cause is found and dealt with. My eye doctor has me taking a diuretic to try and lower the fluid pressure overall. Thus far my right eye's gotten a little better, but the left is still getting worse.

Now she wants me to make an appointment with a neurologist, who will likely want to do an MRI and possibly a spinal tap. There's a possibility that my HRT is the cause. That would be the "easy" answer, if only because that's a medication where my dosage can be adjusted. It could also be an infection or a brain lesion or a brain tumor, or 'idiopathic', which means "we dunno". I'm... not super pleased about any of those possibilities. My head hurts and I'm tired, and the diuretic makes my extremities go pins and needles because it sucks out all my potassium. Not really looking forward to more rounds of testing either.

In any case, just wanted to give an update that I'm not dead. Struggling with new and "fun" health issues, but still kicking.

Revenge of the Nerve 2019-07-26T01:39:06+00:00

I don't know if I jumped in and did too much, too fast, or if it was just the effects of the cortisone shot wearing off, but my pain is back. x_x So now I have to call my doctor and make an appointment for another shot. I just hope it works better than the previous one. I can't keep limping along with a couple of mostly-okay weeks only to get slammed with pain again. I'm really tired of feeling like my hand and arm are sunk in acid.

Blargh! 2019-06-12T23:47:29+00:00

Had a follow up appointment with my doctor today, which was less helpful than I'd have liked. We're discontinuing physical therapy because if anything it's actually making things WORSE, not better. Got a cortisone shot in my arm today, so now it's also angry when I rotate my wrist! x_x I've also been ordered basically not to use my arm for the next two weeks, and follow up again in four weeks.

There's roughly a 50-80% chance it'll work and clear things up. I am... trying not to let this discourage me. It really, really sucks because I WANT to draw but my arm feels like it's full of bees. I'm actually trying some left handed doodles, with mixed results. The knowledge is there, but the muscle memory and control aren't. Have confirmed that my handwriting is terrible no matter which hand I use, though.

Radial Tunnel Syndrome 2019-05-09T06:36:02+00:00

Or so the doctor says. He thinks it might be radial tunnel syndrome (RTS) based on my symptoms. Feels like I have most of my forearm dunked in a bucket of ice water or mild acid most of the time. My pain tolerance is so high it’s hard to get a clear diagnosis, though. I’m too used to just pushing through, especially when something aches rather then spikes.

I have a new brace and an appointment for therapy to try and get the pain levels down. New brace is a lot stiffer than my previous one, so I’m relearning how to use my hand yet again.

I don’t have a timeline for recovery yet. First therapy appointment is next Tuesday. I’m supposed to see them a couple times a week for the next 6 weeks. If it doesn’t work, we may have to try cortisone shots or something along those lines. Bleh.

Hello from Florida 2019-03-16T12:56:23+00:00close

Hey folks! Apologies for the radio silence, but it’s been a wild few days and I’m only just starting to feel like we’ve got things under control again. We started off our trip by catching a painfully early morning flight to Miami. That part went fine, but ten minutes off the plane we got a call from my mom-in-law, who we were planning to meet down here. Her plane arrived the same time as ours, but somehow she managed to break her ankle IN FLIGHT on the way here. O_o;;

We’re still not entirely sure how she broke it, but she’s nearly 80 and she loves to be fashionable. She walked the entire terminal in wedge heeled sandals, and I suspect those were the culprits. She told us she started to feel ill on the plane, and her foot was twisted when she went to stand up and go to the restroom, so I suspect that’s when the ankle bones went. In any case, after starting off the trip by being awake for 24 hrs, we spent the next 10 hrs in the emergency room with her. I’m still catching up on sleep debt from that, lol.

The ER was kind enough to let us borrow a wheelchair until we could get one of our own for her, and the past two days have largely been spent on adapting and changing our plans to accommodate for the broken ankle. It’s meant swapping rental cars for something we can put the wheelchair in and cancelling some of our stay down here. Changing our flights out in order to help her home was going to be ridiculous and painfully expensive, so now we’ll be road tripping from Florida to New Jersey in order to get mom-in-law back home. Then we’ll be staying there a few days to help her adjust and hopefully get her to surgery. There’s a possibility I might have to stay with her longer while Rissa goes back to work, then fly home by myself later.

It’s been... an Adventure would be generous. Closer to a Clusterfuck, really. I’m trying to at least relax a little in the couple of days we’ve got down here. Really glad we have a room with a small kitchen and laundry built in, which is making life easier at the moment. In any case, this is definitely not how our vacation was supposed to go. XDD

Just wanted to give folks an update. I’ve been too brain dead to do much of anything but sit on the balcony and watch the ocean, but at least it’s pretty.

Stretching a Cross Stitch 2019-03-01T02:40:29+00:00close

I spent a few years working as a professional picture framer, and it's still something I enjoy. =3 The process can be a bit of a mystery to folks (especially more complex stuff like fabrics) so I recorded myself while I prepped this piece today. No sound in this video, it's just the sped-up footage from several hours of work. The cross stitch itself was made by my friend Lilliana.

Stretching a Cross Stitch

No sound, footage is sped up 8x. Cross stitch is stretched over acid free foam board. Use push-pins to hold the fabric in place. If using a mat, make sure your piece lines up before sewing it down. Individual stitches should be tied off and taped down before lacing the back. The goal is to create the least amount of impact on the piece while preparing it for framing. This way if one stitch pulls or loosens, it doesn't affect the ones around it.

MFF Sample Art 2018-11-27T22:36:02+00:00close

Trying something new with a digital price sheet for the con this year. Some of my examples are pre-existing pieces I’ve done, but I wanted a couple new ones for sketches. The blank space was for pricing text, and the whole thing is a slide show that plays on a screen at my table.

2018 has sucked... 2018-10-29T13:50:23+00:00

...the energy right out of me, heh.

I wanted to be so much more active (here and elsewhere) than I have been, but this year has felt like a constant struggle to keep my head above the water. Thank you all for being patient with me. It means more than you can imagine.

I don’t usually talk politics in my art spaces, since that’s not what folks are following those for, and I don’t want to get into stuff too heavy here. I do want to say there’s an election coming up shortly in the US, and it’s entirely possible my life and the lives of many friends may depend on the outcome in the next couple years. And that weighs on me. A lot. It’s really hard to focus on anything creative when you’re afraid if you don’t keep up with the news, you won’t know what rights and protections you’re losing this week. x.x

If you’re in the US and able, I would really appreciate if you‘d vote. It’s about the only way left to make a difference.

I don’t know how things will turn out. I’m a hope for the best and plan for the worst sort of person. All I really want to do is make art, and it’s killing me how hard that’s been lately. I do have a couple WIPs to share, and I’ll be doing that in a follow up post here in a couple minutes, but I felt like I had to say something first.

Thanks for sticking with me, guys, and for taking a moment to listen to my anxieties. I’ll try and get back to arting more as I’m able.

My friend Wielder posted this sketch yesterday, and I asked if I could color it! =3 It's amazing how nice it feels to take a break and color someone else's line art. The sketch was a commission for Chaser617, and he also gave permission for it to be colored. Characters belong to him.

Copic marker conbadge for Atma I did over the weekend. She needed something for an upcoming convention and couldn't find any of her existing badges.

Small Update 2018-08-07T16:18:46+00:00

Apologies for the quiet this week. I’ve been fighting off the UTI that will not quit and it’s draining me. X_x Kicked off last week with that, and a couple other unrelated medical related appointments, but the infection decided it’s not done with me, so back I go again today.

I’m exhausted and frustrated and trying not to take it out on anyone, but it’s killed my productivity for the moment and made me feel like crap. I’m trying to get it sorted out, and hopefully round two will kill the damn thing.

In the meantime, here’s a pic of Dusty being adorable.

Quickie doodle thing because I saw a crazy caterpillar pic last night, and it looked like a sideways six legged fox critter made of space. I rotated it to this orientation.

Tweet I got it from:

Little piece of fan art I made for Flonters because he loves kangaroos and picks on me for drawing circles behind things. =3 digital inks, colored with my cheapo set of travel markers.

You guys voted on this one for June, so here it is finished! I changed out the background for a different pic I snapped that fit the scene a little better. =3 Random fox dude is enchanted by the tiny garden fae that’s settled on his hand.

Commission for Fatinuyasha, of his characters reacting to Nathan's visit with shock and surprise. This is part of an ongoing story he's working on.
