Hello! Thank you for using yiff.party!

We hope you enjoy using it. yiff.party operates on a non-profit basis, and as such, all the server expenses are paid by our users. We don't want to run ads or infect you with crypto miners. We depend on users like you to keep the site running, and to preserve years and terabytes of amazing content—some of which is no longer available from its original creators!

Because of the nature of the site, many users are reluctant to donate. That's OK! yiff.party was created so everyone can enjoy the content we host without any restrictions or paywalls. But if you value the service we provide, and are able to, we—and our users—would be tremendously grateful if you considered making a donation.

Donation progress for January 2020

So far, approximately $182.48 has been raised out of our target of $280.00. We're about 65% of the way there! Please note: this tracker is updated manually—don't worry if your donation doesn't show up immediately!

yiff.party's server costs are due on the last day of each month. So, we need to meet this goal before 31 January!

How to donate?

At this time, yiff.party can only accept donations in numerous cryptocurrencies. Please select a currency below to display the relevant donation address.

Bitcoin (BTC)
Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
Ethereum (ETH)
Ethereum Classic (ETC)
Litecoin (LTC)
Why can't I donate through other means (eg. PayPal)?

Due to the nature of sites like yiff.party, it is very difficult to find payment processors who will accept clients like us. If we were to accept donations via PayPal, it wouldn't take more than a day for someone to submit an abuse report and get our account frozen. Until a viable way of accepting monetary donations becomes available, cryptocurrency will remain the only option.

There are many resources available on how to purchase crypto. For Bitcoin, check out bitcoin.org's page on buying Bitcoin for a list of methods. For beginner Bitcoin users, yiff.party recommends using an escrow service such as LocalBitcoins.

Retirement Announcement and the future of this Patreon 2019-10-31T17:34:55+00:00close

Now that I have 200 plugins up and released, I think it's time I commit to my retirement announcement that I've made a while back. Quite frankly, with the most recent events, I'm sad that it's going to end this way, but I'd rather not dwell on that. I'll be leaving RPG Maker and its community after this. After all, I don't intend to linger around if I'm no longer contributing to it.

However, there's a few things I'd like to talk about before I leave.

I want to first bring up that while I know I've stated to keep most opinions away from the verbal post and such and keep them inside the original post, many of you were probably worried that I did not read them as I did not respond. I don't want to give excuses, but due to the amount of work I had in discussing plans for the future and fixing up 200 plugins worth of pages, there was little time for me to provide adequate responses.

Until now.

There are three main topics of concern and I'll address them here.

---

Q1. Why would you paywall just because the actions of one thief?

A1. Strange as it may sound, it's not because of the thief. Had it been due to theft, the paywalling would have happened multiple times over. Instead, it was due to some of the principles at stake upon the latest theft incident. I won't go into details here since it's now a thing of the past, but I will admit that as much as you are disappointed with my decision to paywall after such an incident, I am just as disappointed in myself for not being able to power through it the best I can.

---

Q2. If an individual already owns the plugins before the paywall, can that individual keep them? And how can old users be distinguished from new users?

A2. Any individual that already owns the plugins prior to the paywall are free to keep and use them provided that follow the new ToS regarding redistribution. There is no way to distinguish old users from new users. All I can do is just believe in whatever honor people have left.

---

Q3. The original mission statement of the Patreon wildly contradicts with the actions being done here to paywall the plugins. What do you intend to do about this?

A3. Very good question. In fact, this kind of thing was already in my head from the start and I've already begun making plans for it. Here's what's going to happen.

---

This Patreon's tier lists will be all wiped clean except for a $5 tier. Those who pledge to the $5 tier will gain access to the YEP Library's Full Collection. There will be no more sample projects, debuggers, etc. and I'm sorry to any of you individuals out there who looked forward to them.

Furthermore, the mission statement of the Patreon will be changed. I will state it, but also explain what's been happening lately.

I've been spending the past week to wait for Archeia to settle back down from her flight, her flu, and her jetlag to conduct some business. This business involves setting up a new PayPal account accessible to her. There were some difficulties along the way which prolonged the process (namely, due to us being in two different countries and triggering the fraud alert). What are we going to do with this PayPal?

Well, any post-tax earnings from this Patreon for the past 4 years and going forward will be wired to that PayPal account. This will also include any of the earnings made from the Yanfly Engine Plugins shop on itch.io. The funds, however, will only be used to hire proficient coders to support the current YEP library (under certain conditions) and to create a new plugin library in the event a new RPG Maker is released.

The plugins that those coders, hired by Archeia, produces must adhere to the following: there MUST be free versions of the plugins available to the public containing core essential RPG mechanics. Luxuries and fluff (decided by them) are allowed to be placed behind a monetization option if so wish, BUT only if that profit gained by those created plugins will be reused in some way, shape, or form back into the betterment of RPG Maker itself. This does not necessarily have to be in the form of plugins as it will be their call.

The above will be the new mission statement for this Patreon going forward.

In the event that I catch Archeia misusing the funds generated by this Patreon, its patrons, and the YEP shop, I will revoke access to the PayPal account and employ someone else whom I deem trustworthy. However, in my opinion, there is no other person I trust more with the future of the RPG Maker community than Archeia herself.

All of this is because I simply no longer wish to produce anything for RPG Maker nor its community anymore.

But all the same, I cannot deny my roots:

I am a game dev.

The money spent on this Patreon were from other game devs. Therefore, the money will be reinvested back into game devs as well.

---

Even if I'm no longer here, I wish for the future of RPG Maker to remain bright for all.

See you all later.

Happy RPG Making!

Wishing you the best in your future endeavors! I've been lurking around the various rpgmaker forums since...something like 2012. I can't say I ever made much of anything but content creators like you and Nessiah made me think I could. Thank you for all your work and dedication over the years to a community that did not always properly appreciate or treat you as you deserved. ❤

Thank you for all you have done. I was under the impression that once you retired from making plugins that you would continue to make tips and tricks videos and provide big fixes for existing plugins. I am disappointed this will no longer be the case. You’ll be missed! :)

ToS Changes, Plugins Up, Pricing Explanation 2019-10-30T21:33:40+00:00close

This post is going to cover a couple of things, the Terms of Service Changes, and the plugin price explanations.

---

New and Changed Terms of Service: http://www.yanfly.moe/wiki/Category:Yanfly_Engine_Plugins#Terms_of_Use

tl;dr:

Any original material made by Yanfly is free for use with both free and commercial RPG Maker games unless specified otherwise. I do not demand royalties or special liberties if you choose to use Yanfly original content in your commercial games. (Although a free copy of your game would be nice!) I only ask that you provide “Yanfly” or “Yanfly Engine” a spot in your game’s credits.
Redistribution of the plugins and its code, outside the scope of game projects, is strictly forbidden outside of the host website, Yanfly.moe, and by the following sites/members: itch.io. However, special permission has been granted to these individuals/entities for redistribution of the plugins as long as the plugins remain in their updated form: Archeia, Visustella, Ækashics Librarium, Caz Wolf, Raim, DreamX, Fallen Angel Olivia, Atelier Irina, Aries of Sheratan, Arisu's Dollhouse. This list may be updated in the future.
Any non-Original content posted, linked, or shared on my website and channel will still require you to contact the respective parties for permission of use.
I think this is simple. I’d like to keep it simple. I ask of you, as users, to please do not do things that will make me complicate it for everyone.
Happy RPG Making!

For those familiar with the old Terms of Service, it's more or less the same. I talked to a lawyer about creating a license for this thing, but then decided to just say, "Screw it" since this is what I've done ever since VX. The only difference this time is there's a more definitive clause on redistribution saying that it's strictly forbidden outside of certain select individuals whom I've given permission to.

Why am I keeping it the same? Because it's too complicated if I make it different for you all. After all, the purpose of this engine was for you go getters to get out there and go make a game, put it on the web somewhere, and sell it if you want to. I see no reason to change this and complicate it for everybody. The only people I'm complicating it for are the people who intend to complicate things in the first place.

After all, this plugin library is for game devs, not for people looking to make a quick cash grab.

---

Now onto the pricing.

After some much heated debate between some staff members and I, I've decided to just forcefully settle down on a price tag. Originally, the plans were going to be $1 per 1000 lines of code. However, there's a problem I saw with that:

(Screenshot and line counting work courtesy of Irina)

There's over 500k lines of code in this plugin library and that'd mean you guys would have to pony up $500 for the whole thing. That's a bit much, especially for a library that the majority of the current users have already. I've decided it would be better to simplify the system: $1 per plugin.

Still, that's a lot of plugins to buy so I've decided to separate them into bundles of similar typing (Core & Options, Item & Equips, Battle, etc.), and just make the bundles flat out $10 for each. That makes up to 7 different paid bundles as seen here: https://yanflyengineplugins.itch.io/

But even then, that's $70 to spend, which is almost as costly as the software itself (and costs even more if you guys bought RMMV with a discount). So once again, after some much heated debate: we've decided on $30 for the full collection here.

Now that all of that's been said, I want to warn you all that this pricing model should NOT be the standard across all plugin developers. $1 per plugin or even 1000 lines of code is far too cheap for their services and the only reason why I'm putting my library at this price is because I have the final say in it. In the event you do purchase plugins from other plugin developers, I urge you to not use my pricing model.

---

More will be updated tomorrow on where this Patreon will go in terms of tiers, mission statement, etc.

Yanfly, While I'm no real game maker, I just like playing around with the software for the fun of it. Your plugins are what have kept me entertained thus far. Just thinking though the possibilities of what I could pull off, or how I'd go about pulling it off have been great fun. So while I already have all your plugins from before this snafu, I shall be buying the full pack here in just a moment. You've done so much for all of us and I'd like to provide even a little support. Thanks for being awesome, you keep being you, it's what you do best.

Way way way more than fair. I'm honestly suprised at how low you set the prices. I've considered Yanfly engine to be one of the true must have plugin sets for a long time now and can say that many people will certainly continue using them with this change. Sorry all this turned into such a nightmare for you Yanfly you've given us all a lot of the tools needed to make dreams reality. Much Love <3

User #17205907 - 30 Oct 19 22:41
Hi Yanfly -- if I understand the TOS correctly, does it mean that I could hire a different coder to modify one of your plugins to suit my game (kind've like an extension but not by you)? That would mean the coder would need to have the plugin too. I take the wording in the TOS to mean that redistribution for game projects, which in this case it would be, is acceptable. I'm also curious about your thoughts on people asking for help on the plugins--especially lunatic codes. Does it mean that the coders who would help people out would need to also own a copy? Lastly, I'm curious about updating the plugins. If you purchased the $30 dollar pack (very reasonable) then does that mean you would have to pay again for updates? How would that work? Thanks!!
user avatar
Yanfly - 30 Oct 19 22:54
I apologize for the confusion. Since you and your coder are both working on a game, this will affect neither of you since it's still within the scope of a game project. Rest assured, once you buy the pack, you own it forever. If there are updates. they will be still accessible. I hope this answers your question.

User #17205907 - 30 Oct 19 23:21
Hi Yanfly--it does answer my questions. Thank you for taking the time. I've purchased the full pack.

"Hi, thank you for choosing to support Yanfly Engine! Your donations are what keep Yanfly Engine going and free! Here's what you'll get if you support Yanfly for $1~" Wait a minute, wait a minute, WAIT A MINUTE! Is it free or is it not free? Genuine concern of misleading willing backers here.
user avatar
User #2708986 - 30 Oct 19 23:28
The teirs and mission statement are all in flux at the moment. As they are now is what they were and the benefits they previously carried. Yanfly will be updating things on here to reflect these recent changes asap as things get figured out. Nothing is being said to mislead potential new backers, but for those who wish to support yanfly's work now have the option to buy the plugins, and those of us who have been supporting through our pledges can sit back and see what the new benefits are at our current teirs, provided the same teir structure is used.

user avatar
User #25911517 - 31 Oct 19 00:44
What I read here is that there is no change to he TOS with regards to code usage. This whole situation only applies to those that plan on re-using the code. Did I read that right?
user avatar
Yanfly - 31 Oct 19 02:16
It's for redistribution clarification mostly.

“Well, over here, I want to become your number one source for making that dream game of yours with my scripts/plugins for RPG Maker MV! And I create all this content for you all... FOR FREE!” The dream has become a nightmare. Keep in mind those that might still be backing for the old mission statement, that line above is no longer true, sadly.

User #26310442 - 31 Oct 19 01:27
Thank you so much yanfly. :)
user avatar
User #7601300 - 30 Oct 19 22:15
This is a good model that encourages buying the complete pack. I clicked the link thinking "I don't make RPGs so I'm not going to need most of these categories like Battle stuff or Stats stuff." but I still use 2 sets minimum anyway, so it's easier to just grab the full set and not have to worry about that one plugin that I may need down the road. Smart move.
user avatar
User #2457358 - 31 Oct 19 00:25
While I still may not agree with the decision... At that price, I believe we can all put our concerns about this change having ulterior motives to rest. I am relieved that my years of support will still have resulted in a pretty accessible plugin library for hobbyists and low budget aspirants to work on their dream game. I wish you all the best going forward with your new business, Yanfly, but that said, now that it is indeed a business I don't believe you'll need my support any longer.

Nice to meet you, my name is Munokura. I can only speak Japanese, so I will send you an English translation with Google Translate. If you have any rude words, please forgive me. I am working on introducing the rpg maker mv plug-in in Japanese. So far, I have translated YEP. https://fungamemake.com/yep-japanese I translated Yanfly Engine Plugins into Japanese. However, I was stopped download the japanese plugins at the announcement yesterday. Is it okay to publish the translated version limited to the help part? It is a mechanism that prompts the user to download the original plug-in from yanfly.moe and pastes help. Could you give me permission?

So many Yanfly fans sre too sad about new use cost. I'm a bit too, but remember: to be a scripter is not so easy at all. Think you are typing night after night to release pofessional made plugins like theses. You are doing dozens of plugins for free, and all people just say "thank you, keep doing this for us". Of course, the coder is happy to see anyone is happy because of him, but when a bug occours, you demand him to fix it, for free again. And if the coder is busy you get angry because of this. He give us 40 free AWESOME PLUGINS! FOR FREE! And just want a way to keep producing this. To hire a coder is expensive. Stop crying a lot because him started to ask a bit for your job. The conversion on dollar to BRL for me is expensive, but still worth. But for US users, what is only $30.00? As I'm not using all scripter pack, I just ask a way to buy it separeted. Thanks for your scripts while was free, thanks for make a special price for us and thanks to you to still be a nice guy.
user avatar
User #8907991 - 30 Oct 19 21:47
I would have happily paid $70 as that seems very fair, kudos for bringing it down to $30 which is a steal. Considering how much it would cost to HIRE a programmer that does the kind of work you do, this is an act of charity on your part. Thanks for all your hard work!

You're too modest and kind! Kinda sad, that you're going to 'retire' soon. You and few others did so much for so many people and I personally can't thank you enough for all you've done!

The tallies have been made. The winner for the 30th slot in the free plugin list has been decided. 2019-10-30T01:33:09+00:00close

After the mess made in the first attempt to decide the 30th plugin, the second attempt went far smoother. And so, these are the results for the second one.

9 Element Core

9 Keyboard Config

0 Move Route Core

12 Quest

19 Save Core

1 ---------------.js

As you can see, Save Core won by a clear lead ahead of the rest. This brings the completed list to the following:

  • 1. Core Engine
  • 2. Message Core
  • 3. Battle Engine Core
  • 4, 5, 6. Action Sequence Packs 1-3
  • 7. Victory Aftermath
  • 8. Skill Core
  • 9. Skill Cooldowns
  • 10. Equip Core
  • 11. Item Core
  • 12. Item Upgrade Slots
  • 13. Auto Passive States
  • 14. Main Menu Manager
  • 15. Base Troop Events
  • 16. Battle AI Core
  • 17. Region Events
  • 18. Region Restrictions
  • 19. Save Event Locations
  • 20. Event Chase Player
  • 21. Core Updates and Desktop Optimization (No.164)
  • 22. Battle System ATB (No.24)
  • 23. Battle System CTB (No.38)
  • 24. Battle System STB (No.130)
  • 25. Buffs & States Core (No.50)
  • 26. Animated Sideview Battlers (No.44)
  • 27. Animated Tile Option (No.103)
  • 28. FPS Synch Option (No.81)
  • 29. Dragonbones Integration (No.150)
  • 30. Save Core (No.100)

The above list is what will be bundled into the Yanfly Engine Plugins - Free Plugin Essentials pack and placed back onto the site tomorrow (it's too late tonight as this is something that should have been done today).

I'll be frank. I wasn't expecting the second attempt to vote to go as smoothly as it did and was ready to give you all the --------------------.js if you all were to continue fighting.

But as you've put aside those thoughts of throwing chaos into the air where order is needed in order to consider which plugins would benefit new users the most, the massive majority of you managed to come and vote in an civilized fashion. Good job. You guys can do it when you try.

As a reward, you will get the --------------------.js plugin for free.

.

..

...

I'm serious.

Now let's move on.

  • 31. --------------------.js
  • 32. Quest Journal System
  • 33. Keyboard Config
  • 34. Element Core
  • 35. Move Route Core
  • 36. Extended Move Pack 1
  • 37. Upcoming Plugin #197
  • 38. Upcoming Plugin #198
  • 39. Upcoming Plugin #199
  • 40. Upcoming Plugin #200

That's right, you'll all be getting 10 more plugins with the free package due to you all showing me that you've got what it takes to put your heads together and decide what's best for the future RPG Maker MV users. These 10 will include the next four plugins leading up to #200. Good job, everybody.

What are the last four?

Well, you'll all find out tomorrow.

Good night.

Yaaaaay congrats on getting the votes sorted! 🎉 (I know you had a lot of comments to read, but if you remember, my comment in the previous thread was about being a new follower that was kinda lost about all of this. 😅) Hope you make oodles from your plugins - you've done so much work that you deserve it! I definitely want to chip in $10 or so even if I only am using a few plugins which turned out to remain freebies, just to ease the stressful transition for you a bit.

Yanfly, sorry to bother but... I remember when you told us you were going to retire after plugin 200, you said you were only going to make a couple plugins from then on that you thought were important but kinda missing from MV itself, and then some of them were things like "use switches/variables in plugin commands" and "weather effects stay even in battle", and even your most recent ones this last month... But, well, these ones aren't in the free plugins list... They are small ones, that most people wouldn't think would need to be mentioned to be added in a limited list because they are mostly for new, inexperienced users anyway, but that is exactly why you made them. So...

Thank you so much for providing this plugins. It has helped me further about the project. There's one more thing that I want to ask to make it complete. Is it possible for you to make plugin similar to Personal 3,4,5 battle style UI? (Like determining elemental weakness, Strong, Null, Immune, Abs) I have been waiting for this. I don't mind if I have to pay as long as this plugin exists.

Winner for Free Plugin #30 decided: --------------------.js 2019-10-29T20:29:54+00:00close

Yesterday, I showed a list of which plugins I've decided would be able to be downloaded free. However, there was a 30th slot for something which I've not decided on, so I've decided to hand it over to those willing to comment to decide as this is a pretty important decision to make on behalf of what newcomers to the community will receive as their "welcome" package.

Many of you, instead, chose to take the opportunity to use this important moment to start fights, make controversy, start conspiracy theories, etc. rather than choose what's a potentially good plugin for beginners to have. As to cut off such activity before hand, I've stated the following:

Please keep this as a verbal poll and not a place to voice your opinions, be they positive or negative. There's a post for that already and you can do it in this link: https://www.patreon.com/posts/decisions-on-of-31080063
Otherwise, I will count it as a vote for the --------------------.js plugin.

This was 19-20 hours ago. In that time frame, more votes have been given and it's came to my understanding that those who spoke up more than likely did not read what's gone through and decided to use this as an opportunity to take shots.

The end result?

1st place: 20+ votes for --------------------.js
2nd place: 6 votes for Save Core
3rd place: four way tie with Element Core, Keyboard Config, Move Route Core, and Quest Journal

20+ vs 6 votes!? Those of you who decided to take this as an opportunity to fight here in the verbal polls and not in the post I allowed you to told me one thing:

You aren't serious about the future of the community as I am with this as you've shown yourselves to be more invested in taking your brand of chaos and sprinkling it about and ruining it for everybody else.

As such, --------------------.js is declared the winner.

If you are unhappy with this result, then vote again. This time, amongst these 5:

  • Save Core
  • Element Core
  • Keyboard Config
  • Move Route Core
  • Quest Journal

If you choose to continue fighting here, the vote will go back to --------------------.js again and there will be no other polls after this.

Make your decision.

I only just started using RPG Maker a few weeks ago so I have no idea what's happening! :D (My experience so far has been starting progress of my game and immediately seeing that I'd need the capabilities of the Yanfly Message Core and Extended Message pack to create the dialog that I wanted, and immediately followed on Patreon to show support/thanks for the providing of those plugins.) So, I don't really have any investment in whatever is going on recently, but I definitely just wanted to chime in to say to Yanfly that I appreciate your helpful plugins. c: Hope that tons of happiness and success come your way!

This is a good list that supports both RPGs and non-RPG games. Can I recommend including ease-of-life plugins like Keyboard Config that aren't so much for doing cool and crazy things with your game but go a long way to helping people with disabilities and such?
user avatar
User #277578 - 28 Oct 19 23:15
i second this one: While for me personally save core, element core and selfswitches/varibs are all more interesting, keyb config probably makes more sense from an accessibility and basic features standpoint.
user avatar
User #277578 - 28 Oct 19 23:15
(and what's interesting to me doesn't, matter, i'll just throw $1-5 at you whenever I see a plugin I need, it helps really having us question whether that plugin is necessary or if that can be achieved otherwise)
user avatar
User #26274882 - 28 Oct 19 21:56
Your plugins are just love, so I hope you come up with a complete package deal for plugins other than to sign up for patron. You totally deserve something back for all the plugins, but doubt our accountant would accept patreon payments. Btw: Thank you for all your tutorials, and plugins so fare. :)
user avatar
User #17204139 - 28 Oct 19 23:33
This paywall nonsense solves nothing! It just requires plagiarists to make a small investment, change a few things or break into sections in their plugins, then resell them for even half your price, make their investment back in a few sales & any additional sales made afterward is still profit. This changes nothing! You're just punishing innocent users for what a few assholes did & that's just not right. Keep in mind, most people aren't out to plagiarize your work, they are just a minority. If you want to punish someone, punish them. Get a lawyer & file a plagiarism lawsuit against them.
user avatar
User #26269859 - 28 Oct 19 23:44
Yes too much chaos for no reason. Others would try to sell these illegally now that they have a price just like you said. This wasn't a problem when it was free for years.
user avatar
User #988399 - 29 Oct 19 16:36
I'm gonna give what i've gathered away because Yanfly's being a fucking child. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjMAHSWvhxk His tiff is because he called someone out for plagiarism, was called out for not providing sufficent evidence, and got all shitty because his scheme backfired. It's a nice bit of justice, as the high ups of RMwebs have been doing this shit for years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjMAHSWvhxk Video will explain it.

User #26269859 - 29 Oct 19 01:19

Hello! Will your plugins for VX Ace stay free? If not, should I buy them, if I'm already using them in my project?
user avatar
User #988399 - 29 Oct 19 16:34
I've got many of his plugins, and I'm not rebuying them just to support an ego-driven tiff because someone actually had the balls to call out the brat for making false / unfounded accusations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjMAHSWvhxk Don't buy his plugins for the love of god. The baby needs to learn.

user avatar
User #2918017 - 29 Oct 19 00:23
As much as I hate to say this, I just can't support you putting the plugins behind a pay wall. As mentioned in the comments on your last post (I tried to reply to that one, but was on mobile and it was giving me errors), given that so many RPGMaker software users are new to game making and/or making personal projects for fun or practice, cutting off access to the plugin library, which is so essential to the software both in terms of learning to make games and in all the possibilities it offers, seems really unfortunate. Even if they are available at a low price, that can add up very quickly and some young game makers may not have the ability to pay for them at all, not having their own credit card or whatever it may be. I have always recommended RPGMaker to people based on the incredible amount of free assets available to expand your game as much as you like, and I guess I won’t be able to do that anymore.
user avatar
User #26269859 - 29 Oct 19 00:35
I feel your pain. Paying over 70 dollars by itself is a lot for rpgmaker MV.. but rpgmaker MV is pointless without plugins.
user avatar
User #26272652 - 28 Oct 19 23:26
I agree. I think all of the plug ins should be free just like before, and I think money should only be gotten through donations like how it was before.
user avatar
User #17680741 - 28 Oct 19 20:52
I'm currently using 35 of your plugins in my project, but it hasn't been released yet. All work will be ruined if I can't use these plugins. However, I agree to pay for them, but I would like to get some discount for the number and subscription. Well, and of course, so that when the project is ready for release, I would not expect unpleasant surprises in terms of the plugins used (sorry, I do not know English well).
user avatar
User #17680741 - 28 Oct 19 20:54
I use these plugins: YEP_CoreEngine YEP_BattleEngineCore YEP_MainMenuManager YEP_ButtonCommonEvents YEP_FootstepSounds YEP_PictureCommonEvents YEP_EquipCore YEP_X_VisualHpGuage YEP_X_AnimetedSVEnemies YEP_X_ActSegPack1 YEP_X_ActSegPack2 YEP_X_ActSegPack3 YEP_X_TurnOrderDisplay YEP_X_BattleSystSTB YEP_IconBalloons YEP_ScaleSpirits YEP_QuestJournal YEP_X_MoreQuests1 YEP_MessageCore YEP_EventMiniLabel YEP_BattleAniSpeedOpt YEP_RegionRestriction YEP_SaveEventLocations YEP_X_MessageSpeedOpt YEP_Taunt YEP_BuffsStatesCore YEP_AutoPassiveStates YEP_ShopMenuCore YEP_AbsorptionBarrier YEP_WeaponAnimation YEP_SaveCore YEP_X_AutoSave YEP_ElementalCore YEP_DamageCore YEP_X_CriticalControl

In whatever honor people have left.
user avatar
User #988399 - 29 Oct 19 17:08
Dude, did you not know when you were taken on board that the high ups of degica were pretty much honorless and morally bankrupt? I wish I'd had the chance to tell you before this happened. But I got banned in 2012 and after that point I couldn't bring myself to care anymore. My my the amount of drama's they tried to create for me in an attempt to silence me. If you wanna fight back: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjMAHSWvhxk If you truly believe in honor, then you won't let those who dishonor you go without judgement. Expose the lie of their superficial existence.
user avatar
User #2809859 - 29 Oct 19 20:03
Your vendetta against people who banned you from a forum in 2012, just makes you look insane.
user avatar
User #26308764 - 29 Oct 19 21:44
You misunderstand. It's not the ban i give a rats ass about, I hate most of them, a ban isn't a big deal. What my VENDETTA is about is being labeled a plagiarist even though I'm not and can easily prove it but because RMwebs is so fucking obsessed with it's own image they won't just admit they screwed up, they never do. I even did something wrong, it's not like I'm innocent, either! But at least name my crime correctly. Not to mention the couple times they attempted to scare me by sending attack dogs, they also acquired our skype logs and I dunno how or why they did but that just goes to show the level they'll stoop to when someone isn't just bending the knee and saying that brandishing them .as something they are not actually isn't fucking okay?? You try living a life with an accusation like that floating around you and see how fucking sane you stay. If you want proof and to judge me on a level playing field you could check out the link in the description of the video I keep giving out.

All of that said, While sad you are going through with this, I understand your plight, and wish you the best in this. If you want my opinions on plugins? I'd probably leave ALL of the Core plugins as free, and make people patreon for access to the extras that were built upon your core systems.
user avatar
User #26281525 - 29 Oct 19 01:24
I'm new to the MV community and only been working on my first project a short while, so this is the opinions of a new person looking at what they want to use. This is what I have so far from you in my project that isn't listed in the 29 above: -YEP_X__AnimatedSVEnemies -YEP_ShopMenuCore -YEP_WeaponUnleash -YEP_StatusMenuCore -YEP_OptionsCore -YEP_DisableAutoShadowExt -YEP_KeyboardConfig Shop Menu, Status Menu, Options, and KeyboardConfig I think are pretty core plugins. The others are more utility.
user avatar
User #2809859 - 29 Oct 19 01:26
I'm a newer Patreon, and just recently got into the Scene. So far, this month, Ive Bought LunaEnginge, Olivia's OctoPack, and backed you on Patreon. Im very disheartened to hear that you will no longer be providing free community plugin's to newbies like me. The major reason I signed up to your patreon was because I loved what you are doing. When I was a kid, I got RPGMaker 2K (Don Miguel), and it was amazing to have such a huge community of active contributors giving out tutorials, assets, and being helpful on forums. As a broke kid, I could never have afforded tools to "play" with for development. Nor would I ever have made anything that'd turn a profit. It was people like you who allowed me play and make games for my peers which the memories of are precious... However, Im an adult now, and I understand your dilemmas. 1. You worry and have been told that many of your peers have quit because you offer so much work for free. - I think this isnt really valid since there is nothing stopping them from writing a similar plugin to one of your free plugins that is vastly superior and charging for it. To me, it sounds like they are making excuses for not wanting to work. 2. You are being told that you devalue the work of others because your work is free. - You arent selling a commodity. So you cant set a market price. For example, If you started selling a sandwich for $5, and someone else opened up shop next to you selling the exact same sandwich for $1, then you'd have an argument that they are undercutting the market. However, every plugin you make is completely unique and you dont make plugins that others make and offer them cheaper or for free. So the notion you are damaging the value of the "plugin Market" is complete and utter trash. 3. You've been dealing with scumbags who steal your work and re-sell it and arent sure how to address it. - You cant, save to draw attention to these people and try to make them very known in the community as con-men and thieves. This is something literally everyone who makes a product for either charity or for fair pricing runs into. There will ALWAYS be people who are big enough shit bags where they will try to capitalize off the backs of others for profit. Ex: I can remember in the early 2000s, many Fansubbing/Anime groups were dealing with this same issue. People were taking these free subs done for the community, transcribing them to VHS or VCD and reselling them for profit. Several groups quit releasing their work and setup private groups, others would watermark the hell out of their releases. But in the end, you cannot stop the immoral and selfish people who would exploit the work of others for profit.

User #988399 - 29 Oct 19 16:43
Making false accusations of plagiarism is a pretty low thing to do. That being said yanfly is easily one of the most altruistic members of the upper circle of RMwebs. @everyone: if you don't like having your name smeared because some sore artist made a declaration that you plagiarize with no proof to back it, then don't go after Yanfly, this is his first offence- go after Celianna and others who are announcing plagiarists with no evidence. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjMAHSWvhxk Video should explain everything.

User #16790707 - 28 Oct 19 20:44
Goodness, if I had to choose just one, I'd figure Save Core would make the most sense, however, Self Switch/Vars is also very useful if not a more advanced plugin to work with. I guess I vote Save Core? It was the first one I wondered why it wasn't on the list. Eitherway, this list is more than enough as is.

user avatar
User #7545972 - 28 Oct 19 23:40
I think having a selection of core plugins left free and others behind a paywall is completely acceptable. The fact that the plugins were free before has no bearing on the current situation, and, in fact, is the whole reason Yanfly is in this situation. Just by introducing a paywall, Yanfly can solve a good chunk of the blatant plagiarism happening. Thieves don't spend money to make money, they always go for the easiest target, which is free plugins. No one likes to pay, I'm not disputing that. But to attack Yanfly over a decision to charge for something they created is entirely unacceptable.
user avatar
User #988399 - 29 Oct 19 16:50
The reason I'm annoyed at Yanf is because of the way this all started. Guy makes plugin Yanfly accuses guy of code theft Yanfly is called out for false declaration and lacking evidence. Yanfly proceeds to have a bitch fit and paywall all his plugins out of spite. This whole kerfuffle is fucking hilarious, it's actually nice to see those pompous douches of the RPGmakerWebs upper circle be brought down to Earth. For reference: Theft and plagiarism is the calling card of angry pissants in the high runs who wish to oust someone, they did it to me, they did it to Kaus they did it to soul and probably more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjMAHSWvhxk Most of the time without reliable evidence. See the video and i explain it.
user avatar
User #17204139 - 29 Oct 19 19:57
They did it to Soul? Soul who? Soulpour777?!
user avatar
User #26308764 - 29 Oct 19 21:35
That's the one. His case was admittedly unusual, he plagiarized once or twice but then tried to do good and couldn't make any amends because some people were just being obnoxious about it. There's a reason his plugins are no longer available and his blog is shut down. I know because he came to me about it, I'd guess he heard I'd had this done to me as well. Kaus admitted he plagiarized but i haven't done it and who knows how many other people have been innocent and have had their reputation ground into the dirt due to this corporate cancer.
user avatar
User #13078321 - 29 Oct 19 02:25
I suggest that Move Route Core can also be free to community. It's really helpful for me to manager some game scenes.
user avatar
User #26279146 - 29 Oct 19 00:00
People are being selfish and its showing. You can't get mad at someone for making a decision about their own product. Be thankful that you still have access to some of them.
user avatar
User #988399 - 29 Oct 19 16:47
I'm mad at people for focusing on Yanf when his behaviour (making false declarations of theft) has been common-hat among the high ups of RMWEBS for YEARS. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjMAHSWvhxk I've already got all his plugins i could ever want.
user avatar
User #9102957 - 28 Oct 19 20:37
I agree with this. It's fair enough for new developers to get a feel for early development plugins. 30) Save Core?
user avatar
User #8998718 - 28 Oct 19 23:03
I'd say Self Switches/Variables would be a good choice for #30, but equally; Save Core or Element Core would also be good choices

Yanfly - 29 Oct 19 01:03
Please keep this as a verbal poll and not a place to voice your opinions, be they positive or negative. There's a post for that already and you can do it in this link: https://www.patreon.com/posts/decisions-on-of-31080063 Otherwise, I will count it as a vote for the --------------------.js plugin.

Due to a number of incidents caused 24-48 hours, of which I'm not feeling inclined to explain in full detail other than it feels like a massive betrayal, I've taken some time to reevaluate the pieces in play and review the actions made before hand within the community.

This is what I came up with:

  • Plugins past the ones that came with the RPG Maker MV package will be paywalled. This can be anywhere between $1 and $5 USD. I haven't decided yet.
  • Patrons after a certain tier (undecided yet), will be able to access the full library of plugins.
  • Naturally, this means that the Patreon tiers will be changed, too.
  • The Terms of Use will be changed and updated.

The reason behind all of this is because after much evaluation and discussion, a conclusion has been made that free things, while nice, can hurt a community more than help it. How can something free possibly hurt a community? Well, let's take a look:

  • Free devalues the quality work that others put in. It's something that has hit me a while ago. When Galv, Victor, Hime, and other talented individuals have decided to leave the community, this was a massive blow to the community in general. All I can really conclude out of this is that they were doing too much work for too little payback. I have the fortune of having a solid Patreon to back me up during the past years, but had I not, I'd probably have gone up and left and pursued something else more fruitful instead. I imagine it's the same for the aforementioned plugin developers. Galv, Victor, Hime all have very solid plugin bases, but their earnings from it would easily suggest to them that their work isn't worth it. Especially when it is later discovered that their work is stolen and sold off by a third party.

  • Free encourages entitlement for more freebies. Entitlement happens in just about any community, but in the RPG Maker community, it's hard to deny it's not rampant in a few areas. The amount of support and work that people are expected to do for their freely distributed work is unbelievable. It's enough to drive some people to quit the community or change models completely. Remember how Fallen Angel Olivia used to have her OctoPack Battler plugins all free (with only the sample project to buy?), it was changed to a paid model due to entitlement driving her into a corner. These kinds of things should not ever have to happen, but they do and still happen. While changing to a paid model will not remove entitlement for more freebies, it will help reduce it.

  • Free is also partly responsible for the lack of investment in working projects. It's no surprise that people make new projects and drop them all the time. The lack of investment in a project tends to be the cause of this. When a new project is consisted of freely provided assets and code, there's little monetary investment in it to deploy the feeling of sunk cost if the project is ever to be abandoned. This is why it's always came off strange to me that there's so many plugins out there that can complete entire games, but very few games have actually been completed with them.

I know that changing the model to a paid one will not necessarily fix it all, and could admittedly turn things worse. It's particularly strange that I'd consider a switch to such a model when I'm only 4 plugins away from retiring on the creation bit, too. However, that's why I want you, my users, to provide your opinions on where to go from here. I was considering putting a poll, but decided against it since it gives too much power to just wants and not thoughts.

Regardless of the change in paid model, there will be a change to the Terms of Use in the upcoming days. That much will happen for certain.

Maybe the developers that actually do serious work (like you and Galv and those other) should create an union? Like, "RPG MAKER GOLD TEAM" or something that could have a "trustworthy seal" or something. Not that it iw will resolve the issue, but at least it would direct people that seek plugins your way, instead of some scammer somewhere. As for the plugins, I am using a lot on my game. I will have to stop using them now and buy each one of them separately?

A team idea sounds lovely! Nope, the ones you have are the ones you own!
user avatar
User #4355160 - 27 Oct 19 18:17
Does this apply to only the MV library, or the VX ACE library as well?
user avatar
Yanfly - 27 Oct 19 21:25
Only the MV library. VX Ace Library will remain where it is.

While your points make complete sense, and in fact the entitlement to freebies are one of the big reasons in my opinion not many try their hand on making plugins and the ones that do usually close themselves away from the community (seriously, Olivia was clearly driven away by a conversation I saw, ever since then I avoid trying to contact either her and Irina, and I have no idea how to contact Arisu about making my plugin project compatible with her paid one that would save me a lot of time doing the very same thing myself...) That would be acceptable for about anyone, really, but... Well, you are kind of a big deal already. If there is something someone wants to do, most people don't look for alternative means since "yanfly got a plugin for this, or that allows you to lunatic code this". I'm serious, a huge majority of people use your plugins, tell others to use your plugins, most plugin creators are supposed to make their plugins compatible with yours... Hell, I learned properly how to make plugins analysing yours. I once heard someone say that your plugins should have been standard with MV. And I can see why. Putting YOUR plugins behind a paywall... would put a huge barrier between the users who joined before and after. Because your plugins are a staple of the community right now. (To the point that some people see a game with unchanged parameters from your plugins and consider it the same as RTP) And a HUGE step-up from before they were released... a point which the users who join after the paywall, who at that point won't have the notion yet about how worthy they are and won't know yet how trustworthy the community is about this yet, will be stuck on from then on... In less words, your plugins are awesome and more than worthy of being paid for. The problem, is that everyone already here knows that and would be able to rush and either get them before the paywall or know it is worth it, but no one that joins after will know it, may not be convinced to try, and will be punished by it, for bad timing and lack of knowledge from before their joining. In even less words, I disagree with the paywall not for my own sake, but for the same of people that join MV after the paywall would be in effect.

That's exactly I wanted to say! I joined Yanfly's patreon after try some of the plugins and some tips & tricks, it was so awesome that I felt bad for using them free, so I joined here. And I know I barely been here for a month but I tried rpg maker mv no so far ago, 5-6 weeks, but I think it will be a pity that new users can enjoy it like we did. I even recomended a few friends to try it, some of them are already on it trying things. There always be bad people that will try and rip of others people taking advantage of others people's work, but I don't thinks that inocent people should pay for their actions, but I also understand that something must be done.

As you said, you’re only 4 plugins away from retiring from plugin creation, so this might not be the best idea. At this point, you’re already released 196/200 plugins for free and most of your audience already has them downloaded. Unless the final 4 plugins are absolutely amazing, it would just be better to use the 196 free ones we already have free access to (as we have already downloaded them) and just not buy the final 4. As Stephan Liennard said, the only thing this accomplishes at this point is to alienate incoming new YEP users. The biggest reason to use YEP other than their compatibility with other users’ plugins, is that they are high quality while still being free. Honestly, if you weren’t 4 plugins away from retirement, I’d support this paywall idea, but it’s just far too late now for it to be a good decision.

Yanfly, major question. Would you be adverse to working on making games for us to play in the near future? I mean, I used to be a patron for you for a while until PayPal seemed to fail on me... and I want to support you still. This is something that's going to help determine whether or not I support you further after the finished plugins roll out.

I've had a hand in working on a few game projects but they're not my own. As far as something completely original by me, who knows, maybe something will come down the line!

Yeah? I see now. Well, hopefully you can do something all your own, man. :)

On that note, I have to ask... could you please upload a copy of your latest plugin onto here, for those of us who have yet to download it before the crisis you mentioned earlier? Thanks in advance.

User #3410644 - 27 Oct 19 15:56
I completely understand the idea of a paywall, and I also support it. Your plugins are more than worth the nominal fee you're proposing you'd charge. Also, I get that some people wouldn't have the budget to pay for plugins but... If you've bought the software anyway for $80, what's a few extra dollars for some incredible and much-needed plugins? You get the great functionality, and the developer gets some support for their work. Win-win I say.
user avatar
User #6576363 - 27 Oct 19 21:05
$80? More like $15... Before I got a job $80 was $10 more than I got in a year. $20 for birthdays and $50 for Christmas.
user avatar
User #3410644 - 28 Oct 19 23:42
I just mean that's how much the latest version of RPM is right now on their official website.
user avatar
User #2659437 - 27 Oct 19 19:43
I support it simply because it'll cause a paradigm shift in the community. For example, once Olivia started charging for her plugins, I saw a change in the way people thought about plugins in general. Slowly but surely, the expectation was being set for the RM community; If you want quality, you gotta pay for it. I personally don't think there's anything wrong with that. The only thing I would give some more thought about is the "all or nothing" approach. In other words, paying for access to the entire YEP Library. It definitely makes things simple, but maybe it would be better to charge for select plugins? Just a thought.
user avatar
Yanfly - 27 Oct 19 21:26
There's much to be considered, which is why I have decided to talk this over with some other members of the community whom I trust. I, too, also want to see that paradigm shift in favor of the content creators because they're as much a part of this community as the game devs.
user avatar
User #12757793 - 27 Oct 19 15:43
I really don't blame you for switching to a paid model, due to the fact that a lot of people have been copying your work. A paid wall for non-patreon members wouldn't be that bad considering creating plugins is hard and tiring.
user avatar
User #2708986 - 27 Oct 19 17:21
I'll stand behind all of that. To be honest, with how much Yanfly & Co. have contributed to the community even though I honestly havent had the time to even sit down and actively work on my project, due to work/life just being absolutely hell right now. I keep my patreon subscription here because I feel the 5 bucks a month I've put here for the past year+ is worth it. There's an absolute TON of hours poured into this and it needs to be shown at least some level of return on investment. If I had enough extra to throw at other patreons in the community I would, but as long as peoples content is priced reasonably, I don't mind paying to have access to it. I've seen a lot of the entitled people in the community always demand more and more and more, like spoiled children carrying on as they do. It's not just the RPGMaker community, but every community of creators where there are those that make assets for free or even just take the time to help people with their projects. They practically get mauled by a never-ending wave of demands disguised as requests. And the terrible things that get said when you dare to step back and stop taking it anymore can be mind boggling. Anyways, I and I would say a lot of us here have managed to put our money where our mouths are for the most part. You do what you have to do Yanfly, I know I'll still be here.
user avatar
User #11771459 - 27 Oct 19 19:43
I've only ever given money on Patreon to you, because I felt like I was robbing you with the amount of your plugins I'm using in my project. :)
user avatar
User #7696477 - 27 Oct 19 15:56
I will always support you Yanfly.
user avatar
User #7194688 - 27 Oct 19 15:27
Giving major content a paywall is certainly a legitimate decision, but the issue you face with a per plugin price is quality and competition. Many of your plugins are effectively identical to that of other major creators, and there are some that are essentially useless for commercial games (ie, any plugin that forces you to use MVs in game menus). The strength of your product is that the plugins cover many areas and are guaranteed to be compatible with each other. That and the demo. If you start trying to charge one plugin at a time you lose all that.
user avatar
User #4344938 - 27 Oct 19 15:31
I spoke a lot and probably worded it badly, sorry.
user avatar
User #8998718 - 27 Oct 19 15:43
Putting a paywall in front of the YEP library wouldn't help the issue; I honestly feel as if it would alienate new users who don't have the money to pay for assets. A large amount of the RPG Maker users I know are either schoolchildren, students, or amateur hobbyists who don't have the budget to be buying assets, even ones as utilitarian as the YEP library. It would be a shame to deny newer users the same amount of content that the older users have had just because of some inconsiderate users. However, if the paywall does go ahead, would you consider making a bundle price for access to the entire YEP library?
user avatar
User #3014929 - 27 Oct 19 15:30
I think its a good idea. You've done a huge favor for people like me who wanted to make video games. I'm happy to support you and would prefer the people I support not... starve or have their work ripped off. (Hopefully soon I can join the club of completed YE games!)
user avatar
User #4105229 - 27 Oct 19 18:07
That's rather unfortunate and that means I'll have to put several projects on hold until I can afford to buy plugins but if that's your decision then I'll respect it.
user avatar
User #25827042 - 27 Oct 19 20:29
For $1?
user avatar
User #5583546 - 27 Oct 19 21:12
or $5. Yanfly said he hasn't made up his mind yet. $1 is doable, but $5 is a lot for some people.
user avatar
User #22549766 - 27 Oct 19 19:04
Do we need to pay for all the plugins that we downloaded before?

User #5583546 - 27 Oct 19 21:13

user avatar
User #5583546 - 27 Oct 19 15:28
It depends on after retirement. Will you still maintain the ones that exist after you do so to keep up with the MV engine or will you just leave them as-is once #200 is out? I know you have other plans for them, but if the plugins are just gonna no longer be supported (Like the ATB, CTB, etc), I'm not sure setting up a paywall this late in the game makes any sense. If you plan to continue to do updates on them in the future, then I think that's the smart move. It's messed up, but if all your plugins are Patreon-exclusive, then it will reduces the thefts. Entitlements can go eat a big back of...well, you know what. That's just the freebie kids just trying to take advantage for selfish reasons. Not really worth paying attention to, but I can see why it would hurt the business model at the same time. Personal opinion to them is: "That's the way it is. Don't like it? Go somewhere else." I've no obligation to be nice to those who take advantage of others like that. It's the thieves I think are unacceptable. If there's a way to stop, lessen THEM, then I say do it.

User #12836267 - 27 Oct 19 16:59
When I did speak with Galv while I was his patron, it did seem a like like he had too much on his plate. Managing a job, a life, and trying to make rpg maker plugins in the meantime really seemed like too much, considering the limited benefit to said plugins. At the same time I'm not entirely certain if the paywall is a good idea, on the other hand, it may encourage people to buy only a few plugins, and study them so they can understand how the engine works and then write their own? It might be a good motivator. It would definetily motivate me more to write my own stuff, i'd just have to spend a while deciphering how the engine code works. (I am one of those people who cannot make heads or tails of the API, and the tutorials that are basically copying and pasting javascript instead of explaining it)

A full-size sprite option for character generator battlers, ones you can customize like you can the current set. It honestly doesn't seem like THAT daunting of a thing for Kadokawa to pull off, hell I'd even pay $80 to have the same level of customization we have for the chibi battlers in full-size sprites.

I honestly think they ask this about once a year, I will always just point back to my post in suggestions, stop locking me out of the rest of the editor just because I have a help window or the database open. It may just be me, but I think better when I can references other parts of my project at the same time I am working on a single part. Being able to thumb through it all evenly is nice, I want to be able to look at my skills database at the same time as my items database. I want to be able to have the map tiles database bit open while I work on a map, so I can reference the passability of certain tiles or change said passability if I set it up wrong and realize it while I am laying out the map. I want my workflow to be enhanced by the software, not hindered by the software.

Beware of Shady Plugin Seller/Thief 2019-10-26T05:27:30+00:00close

A plugin seller by the name of Isabella Ava (aka master2015hp) was questioned to clarify why a certain plugin had the overly similar appearance of the Yanfly Engine Plugins library's Aftermath Level Up.

More details explained here: http://www.yanfly.moe/wiki/Beware_of_Shady_Plugin_Seller/Thief

We STRONGLY encourage you users to stay away from this "plugin developer" as their actions and products are extremely suspicious.

A New Plugin Developer on the scene! 2019-09-20T19:51:50+00:00close

It's been brought to my attention that there's a new plugin developer on the scene! And she also happens to be a patron of mine, too! Let's give Arisu a warm welcome!

https://arisusdollhouse.itch.io/

So far, there's four plugins released, one of which happens to be released today even! And they're all compatible with the YEP library according to her.

---

https://arisusdollhouse.itch.io/notification-window

Notification Window:

Sometimes you want to display a notification for the player without having to
put it in a Show Message event. This plugin creates 9 different positions for
you to place notifications on the screen to alert the player of what is now
happening without having to require player input to continue gameplay.

---

https://arisusdollhouse.itch.io/synchronized-event-movement

Synchronized Event Movement

Sometimes you want certain events to move whenever the player moves, or maybe when another event moves. This plugin lets you synchronize event movementswith your desired target and the type of movement associated with them, too.Events with this movement type can go about randomly, approach their targets, move away from their targets, follow a custom move path, mimic a target, reverse mimic a target, or even mirror them.

---

https://arisusdollhouse.itch.io/sealed-battle-commands

Sealed Battle Commands

This plugin adds some new notetags that lets you seal specific commands in
battle like Attack, Guard, and Item using notetags.

---

https://arisusdollhouse.itch.io/visual-item-inventory

Visual Item Inventory

This plugin changes the item list displayed in-game to become more visual.
The item, weapon, and armor icons will be displayed enlarged and show the
count next to them while a tooltip displays the selected item's name.

---

Be sure to check them out!

Atelier Irina - Recruiting Board plugin 2019-08-30T14:40:41+00:00close

Our good friend, Atelier Irina, has made yet another amazing plugin!

---

This is a RPG Maker MV plugin that lets you create a recruiting board for actors. Actors can be hired to enter your team at a cost and can be retired for some of the deposit back. The recruiting board will be made into an in-game scene which displays a list of the actors you can recruit, their current stats, and a list of available skills.

You can purchase it here: https://atelieririna.itch.io/recruiting-board

---

It's a very handy plugin for anyone who wants to set up heroes for hire (or slaves for purchase if your game is into that kind of thing). The custom Lunatic Mode effects make it extremely flexible, too!

Unison Attack plugin by Atelier Irina 2019-08-23T16:48:26+00:00close

Our good friend Irina has released another plugin!

If two characters happen to pick the right combination of skills during battle, they can perform a Unison Attack! Unison Attacks are predetermined in the database and require specific combinations of skills to work. This can come in the form of dual techs, triple techs, quadra techs, etc.

Note: This plugin requires Yanfly's Battle Engine Core and can only be used with DTB or other battle systems that queue up skills, such as the Default Battle System. The reason this cannot be used with other battle systems like ATB, CTB, STB, or OTB is because those battle systems are unable to queue up skills, which are required for Unison Attacks.

You can buy it here: https://atelieririna.itch.io/unison-attack

Read more information about it here: http://www.yanfly.moe/wiki/Unison_Attack_(Irina)

Hey, all!

Yanfly.moe is now changing away from WordPress to MediaWiki!

There's a number of reasons behind this change.

1. User Accessibility. It's hard to navigate through a WordPress blog to look for relevant information. Things are jumbled up all over the place and everything is only sorted by post dates. This makes it harder to look up what you need. This is especially true when there's over 180+ plugins available.

2. WordPress, for what it's worth, is changing for the worse in my opinion. The latest update just simply made it harder to use on the user end and, let's face it, it's always been highly inconvenient for the readers when there's no way to instantly navigate through a table contents for each page. This is especially true for help manuals and such whereas in MediaWiki, a Table of Contents list will instantly let you jump to the section you need.

3. MediaWiki allows for far better organization and customization. It's easier to create proper lists and data tables for needed information. Indication of this can be seen through collective Action Sequence lists, Notetag Lists, Script Calls, Text Codes, and more.

4. Affiliated partners like Aekashics, Archeia, Olivia, Irina, Caz, Aries would all have the ability to modify the pages the way they want. This makes it easier for our affiliated partners to share their stuff with us on a more global platform.

5. This will also make it easier to place new articles and such in view without them getting drowned out by new blog posts, a problem that exists commonly in WordPress sites with multiple authors.

Plugin manuals have been fully transferred over from my end, while other content creators are slowly adding in their own stuff, too. A couple of articles on Yanfly.moe would need to be transferred over at another point in time, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

There's a couple of demerits to the MediaWiki and that's mostly that it consumes more resources on the webhost. I may have to switch to a stronger hosting plan sooner or later to accomodate for that, but as far as things go, that's minor.

Hope you guys enjoy the changes!

Collectible Card Game plugin suite - Atelier Irina

Description
itch.io: https://atelieririna.itch.io/collectible-card-game This product is a series of plugins and a sample project. It offers you the ability to create a collectible card game in your RPG Maker MV projects as either a mini-game or as its primary focus, whichever one suits you better. The first plugin provides the core of the collectible card system and booster pack openings. The plugin generates these cards in template form in-game, which means that you do not have to create the card entirely each time, providing only the image of card art at bare minimum. The plugin's template structure will do the rest of the work, including animating them, putting stats where they have to go, and adding in the card text. Booster packs allow your players to open up packs of cards in an entirely new scene with rarity structure control, to let you, the game dev, determine what are the contents of your booster packs. If you don't wish to have a card game and just want collectible cards, this is the only plugin you need out of this set. The second plugin provides a deck builder, to be used with the third plugin, the game mechanics. The deck builder has been custom made to provide players an efficient way to manage and edit their decks, as well as provide ways for them to customize them outside of card content, such as deck sleeves and boxes. Players are able to name their decks, order them however they want, and even favorite them. What's more is that the deck builder also supports multiple rulesets, if your game happens to allow for that in-game. The scene is also fully customize-able through the plugin parameters, allowing you to change up how it looks to suit your own tastes. The third plugin provides the functions needed to make a card game playable and nothing more. It will not provide the structure for the card game itself. Why not? That's because the sample project will provide that. The card game's battle structure is evented inside a series of common events, allowing you, the game dev, to modify it however you want, ranging from making your own custom rules for it, or changing up how damage calculations are done. The plugin will provide a plethora of functions to let you shape up how the mechanics can work in the game, along with tons of customization as far as visuals go. The sample project will provide you assets for your card templates, 126 cards made and ready, each with their own custom card effects, a fully evented card game battle system free for you to modify, and a group of opponents to test your mettle against to let you, the game dev, get a feel for the card game itself. itch.io: https://atelieririna.itch.io/collectible-card-game

The Weather Control plugin allows you to control the existing weather effects with much more fine-grained authority, and adds 3 new weather effects that does not come with RPG Maker MV and improves existing one that were kind of bland to begin with (rain, storm, snow).

Action Cutin plugin by Atelier Irina 2019-04-25T18:29:56+00:00close

Our visual novel loving friend, Atelier Irina, made a new plugin! This time, for Action Cutins! They can be used in battle for epic skill attacks or on the map scene for some Phoenix Wright style OBJECTIONs!

---

This RPG Maker MV plugin lets you add action cutins display actor and enemy faces in a cutout box with speedlines going through the back. It can be used inside and outside of battle provided that you use the right notetags and/or script calls with them. It can be used to put emphasis on which actor or enemy is currently performing an action or it can be solely used for very strong attacks. The choice is yours.

You will be able to customize how action cutins look for each facet of a skill or item or even make templates when used with multiple battlers at a time. You can also choose what graphic to use for each actor/enemy when a cutin appears, as well as the scaling, the offsets, and anti-aliasing.

Those who lack the time and/or ability to make their own graphics for cutins, don't worry. This plugin will automatically convert face graphics and enemy graphics* into a usable form for cutin effects as it will work right out of the box as long as you download the Speedlines graphic that comes with this plugin.

*Note: The automatic conversion will not be applied to animated Dragonbones battlers because that's a whole different animal to tackle and you're better off using still graphics for that.

---

It will be on sale for a week. You can buy it here!

Avoid purchasing plugins from Foundat.io Part 3 2019-04-17T01:43:01+00:00close

I’m pretty sure you guys are sick of it by now, but yep, there’s another continuation.

Part 1– Where we discover and dissect what code is stolen.

Part 2– Where the coder in question straight up confesses.

So what’s part 3 about?

You can read it here.

However, I'll spare you all with a tl;dr version.

Foundat.io/n gave us excuses on why they wanted plugins made and admitted they will continue supporting the thieves.

I'm about out of energy from all of this so all I'll say is, just don't have anything to do with Foundat.io/n or Musubi Game Studio and their staff.

Sorry for the reply 2 months later, but for those who are unaware, Venezuela is currently experiencing a terrible hyperinflation period. tl;dr their money devalues to the point of worthlessness in a runaway fashion. It's gotten to the point where some of them have to resort to gold farming on online games like RuneScape in order to make money. They only make the equivalent of a few US dollars per day, but that's so much more than what salaried workers in Venezuela make. Now I am not saying that the actions of Foundat.io are justified, but I can understand why they are resorting to such desperate measures.

The whole situation is very sad. First, great artists like Yanfly and everyone else in this fantastic community don't get the appreciation and attention they deserve. On the other hand, even if the guy lied about his situation, there are enough people in the world who can only survive through such actions, or who are led to such actions by unfortunate circumstances. I don't want to defend that, it just makes me sad that we humans can't just enjoy the paradise we live in together.

Here is the continuation of the theft incident.

Musubi Game Studio, aka the person who made plugins for Foundat.io, came and approached me in Discord through direct message. Here are the logs. (For the Pastebin version, click here).

For the entire log in image form that's easier to read, you can read it here.

So, as you can see for yourself, this person, tried to not only negotiate with me about stolen plugins, but admitted to being a thief and that this is his livelihood. I’ll repeat it again in case it got missed, do not buy services from this guy or from this website. Neither of them are trustworthy.

So basically, they stole a bunch of code that they can get for either very little money or free and are trying to SELL it for $40 PER plugin? Did they seriously think they'd get away with this? I mean, I love the RPGMaker community, and it's painful knowing these kind of people are around preying on people like us.

Just giving you all a warning to avoid purchasing plugins from Foundat.io

http://yanfly.moe/2019/04/16/avoid-purchasing-plugins-from-foundat-io/

To sum it up, they've been found stealing code/plugins from the Yanfly Engine Plugins library and from Galv's library, too. Details and evidence are found in the link above. We haven't confirmed their paywalled plugins nor do we intend to (since they cost $40 USD each), but given the track record so far, it's not unreasonable to assume that they're stolen as well.

I just want to add, I typed in "RPG Maker" and "Musubi" into Google and this link came up. I don't want to suggest it is connected, because I don't know, but it's someone called "Musubi Game Studio" and relates to Plugins and RPG Maker MV, so I thought it may be worth sharing the link, very sorry if it's nothing related. https://www.fiverr.com/alexxisaaps/support-you-with-rpg-maker-mv-events I just looked at there website too, and to me it looks like Yanfly Plugins mixed with others. https://gamestudio.musubiapp.com/ Sorry if this is a mislead, hoping you can tell at first glance whether it's related. To me it both does and doesn't look related, but I thought it was worth letting you know about in either case.

Seems like you found the mark (Archeia also linked this to me). If you check their reviews, a group called "foundation_buzz" left them a bunch of reviews, one of which is a custom day/night plugin, too, which so happens to be sold on their site.

I'm only a 41 month patron of Yanfly's because he was giving away his plugins for free, even for commercial use, for so long before even having the option to offer a gratuity for it. As such, that people are taking them, doctoring them up, then reselling it for a pretty sizeable pricetag is simply offensive.

I will never pay for a plugin that I can get for free from another dev. Seriously, if you're thinking of buying a plugin for $40 and you don't even know about Yanfly plugins, you need to do more research. If you're reading this right now, you've probably done enough research.
user avatar
User #6757217 - 17 Apr 19 02:57
The problem with a lot of free plugins is that they stop being supported by their creators at some point, and eventually they break. An implied promise of maintenance and support is very appealing, particularly if the plugin is central to your game. There absolutely should be an ecosystem of paid/Patreon plugins, but lifting code from other devs obviously isn't the way to do it.
user avatar
User #9183349 - 16 Apr 19 17:31
I'm very sorry to hear this has happened, I just saw this now. I hope a solution will happen for those Plugins to go, but advertising the truth to everyone is a good first step.

RPG Maker Portal - Discord Server Launch 2019-04-15T13:00:03+00:00close

Hey, all! We are happy to announce that the RPG Maker Portal Discord is open to all!

You can find the invite link here:

https://discord.gg/8wVaHRz

This Discord server has been made by me and various well-known members of the RPG Maker community such as Aekashics, Archeia, Caz, Irina, Marimo, Liberty, Liquidize, MirageV, Ocean's Dream, Olivia, Rhyme, Yanfly, and more. We decided to pool together the quality resources we've hand-picked and tutorials to share for everyone, too, so that this place not only becomes a bridge to other servers, but also a center of wealth and knowledge.

Our goal here is actually not to establish a community, but instead, a resourceful, knowledge-filled server where everything gets connected and bridged, allowing all connecting communities to benefit from it. Since we've been in the community for so long and our individual traffic volumes are pretty high, we thought it'd be great if we could share with you all to enjoy this traffic, too.

We recognized that we, as individuals, get a lot of traffic on our own, but don't have a Discord server associated with us. Figuring out we can use that traffic to help you all with your own groups and servers, the Portal's concept was established. If you have Discord servers of your own be it for your teams, games, etc. and are willing to get more members to join in, be sure to leave a link in the self promo sections such.

This is also a great way to share completed and demo games as well. Getting those initial players are hard and may be even harder than creating the actual game itself. This server should make exposing yourself far easier, too. Maybe even get a few beta testers in before completing the project and/or find new teammates to help you with your goal! Be sure to share with us your creations at the self promo channels, too.

Be sure the read the rules. They're all easy to follow and I'm sure you'll be having fun with your stay here before you find the community you truly belong in.

Action Sequence Fast Forward/Skip Plugin by Atelier Irina 2019-04-07T22:39:59+00:00close

I felt like I absolutely had to share this one with you guys. Our talented plugin developer friend, Atelier Irina, made a new plugin for purchase! Action Sequence Fast Forward/Skip!

---

Battle Action Sequences are lots of fun to watch. But for all players alike, seeing the same long-drawn out Battle Action Sequences for the hundredth time will get old. This plugin gives players the ability to fast forward or skip entire Battle Action Sequeneces altogether and show that you, as a game developer, respects the player's time and decision on how they wish to play your game.

You could change the buttons to perform these actions, but from the plugin's default settings, you could fast forward by holding down the designated OK button (Z or Space on keyboard or holding the left mouse button down). To toggle Auto-Fast Forward, pressing Page Up or Q can do that or by pressing the Fast Forward button on the screen.

If you haven't changed the button setup, skipping animations can be done by holding down the designated Cancel Button (X or Escape on keyboard by the right mouse button). To toggle Auto-Skip Forward, pressing Page Down or W will toggle the Auto-Skip Forward feature or by pressing the Skip Forward button on the screen.

---

It's on sale for a week. You can purchase it here!

Bright Effects plugin from Fallen Angel Olivia 2019-04-03T18:30:34+00:00close

Our Octopath-loving plugin creator friend, Fallen Angel Olivia, has created a new plugin!

---

This is a RPG Maker MV plugin that will allow you to add various bright effects to your game's maps and battle system. These effects can make the game appear more vivid, light, and gives you control over the color settings of a particular map to make a more distinct feeling, too. The bright effects can be changed midway through events in both maps and battles, too.

It will be on sale for a week. Be sure to grab it!

---

I think one of the neater things about this plugin is how you can alter the way some of the effects change depending on the position on the map. For example, the screen could get bright as you get near a cave entrance or closer to some torches!

Fallen Angel Olivia and Atelier Irina's Dual Plugin Release: Battle Action Sequence Impact! 2019-03-12T20:27:20+00:00close

Our friendly plugin developers, Fallen Angel Olivia and Atelier Irina, have created two new plugins for a simultaneous release. One is for adding special effects to your battle system while the other adds entirely new Action Sequences for your skills including projectiles! You can buy these separately or purchase them together in a bundle at a discount!

Battle Impact Plugin by Fallen Angel Olivia

This is a RPG Maker MV plugin that adds a little bit more impact to battle by producing special on screen filter effects to make certain actions like critical hits, adding/removing states or buffs, healing, guarding, and dodging more visibly different adding to the flavor of the battle.

This plugin is plug-n-play, which means you don't have to do anything other than install it to reap all the benefits. If you wish to turn off certain features, you can do so in the plugin parameters.

Action Sequence Impact Plugin by Atelier Irina

This plugin adds new Action Sequences to Yanfly's Battle Engine Core (so make sure you have that plugin and the Action Sequence Packs installed) to add a couple of new effects such as balloons, move adjustments, easings, projectiles, and if you have Olivia's Battle Impact plugin, the special impact effects, too!

Great work, you two, especially working together to create these lovely visual effects!

Atelier Irina - Visual Novel Busts - RPG Maker MV 2019-03-02T19:55:00+00:00close

Made by our visual novel loving friend, Atelier Irina for RPG Maker MV!

You can buy it here: https://atelieririna.itch.io/visual-novel-busts

It'll be on sale for the first week!

This plugin adds bust support to RPG Maker MV's message system. You can control all bust functions from either the Show Text event command itself or through Script Calls. This plugin supports one bust on the Message Window and ten other busts on the screen behind it.

Busts can move, fade in and out, change opacity, slide in and out, mirror themselves, change scale, and have tones applied to them. While some of these options can be done through Show Picture event commands, having too many pictures on the screen can cause performance dips. By making busts separate sprites from pictures, there are less issues, too.

Hey Yanfly, do you know what would cause Irina's Message Busts and your Message Macro plugin to conflict? When I have hers activated the " \n<x>" function ceases working.

This looks very good!!! i may actually use it!!! i just have a question. is there any plugin to edit the message box? like make it bigger and been able to hold more text?

Yanfly - 4 Mar 19 16:13
You can use the Message Core for that. :)

That's looking real good, I just wish she'd have added a way to use balloon icons on the busts too - it's a lil' awkward to use battle animations for that purpose, even if they do loop heh~

Hi, Yanfly! I have an issue since your plugins clash with Victors (even though he said it won't). I know that it's due to his basic module overlapping your battle core. Since I need his cooperative skill plugins and MP level on top of yours... if you can remake both of these plugins, it's great! (your limited skill use is completely different with what I need since I make Suikoden-like game which shares MP based on skill tier). Your row formation should have max battlers/ row too so that player won't stack everything in the same row (probably with enabler). Your target plugin should have line-piercing AoE so that it exactly covers 1 battler/ row :) I'll definitely throw some money to your patreon after releasing my game XD your plugins are great, so I don't mind supporting you
A new plugin maker has arrived! 2019-02-26T17:32:36+00:00

A new plugin maker has arrived by the name of Irina! :D Here's some of the stuff she's made for free!

Automatic Message Colors

This plugin automatically causes the messages that can use text codes to automatically color keywords to depict importance so you don't have to manually type in \c[3]Important\c[0] every time you want to draw attention to something. This helps those who want to make their keywords consistent throughout their game as well as makes it easier to simply offload text into RPG Maker MV without having to go through and highlight everything manually.

Performance Upgrade

This is a "plugin" of mostly performance upgrades shifts away from the usage of bitmap functions to WebGL and PIXI for better performance. Results may vary from computer to computer as PIXI alternatives depend highly on the PC's GPU. For those that this does affect, expect less lag spikes from many things like hue changes for enemies and animations, entering the main menu,or constant pixel grabs from the window skin.

Anti-Audio Delay

When playing audio in RPG Maker MV events, there's a small delay when the audio loads to when it's actually played. This can make some scenes lose impact where an emotional piece of music is supposed to be played, but it gets delayed instead and ruins the moment.

What this plugin does is go through the currently running event's command list by a certain amount and loads ahead of time the audio files it finds. This way, the audio files are ready by the time the event runs, making it transition smoothly.

This plugin does not preload and store audio files forever because that's a very quick way to get your game client to crash when it consumes more memory than the player's computer can handle. Instead, it will save a designated amount of audio files in its cache to keep them ready in case they're reused but will flush them out of memory when the limit has been reached. This is to ensure that memory doesn't overflow and crash the game.

Be sure to grab her stuff and follow her on itch.io!

Plans Going Forward for YEP 2019-03-01T14:00:05+00:00

I start today with a different type of announcement. As we've hit 180 plugins in the YEP library and counting, I've come to realize just how much time has passed and how much work we've put into making RPG Maker MV into something amazing and it couldn't have been done without all of you and your support for our team on Patreon. However, while the number of 180 plugins seems impressive and whatnot, it also comes with a plethora of work. There's always compatibility issues to be had inside the YEP library itself (and that's not counting the ones outside of the YEP library) so the work compounds upon itself as time passes when more plugins are released.

There's a few things I could do to fix this. I could try recruiting more people to work on the library. But this is something I've already tried to do with Tigress, Chickie, and Sylvester. The three of them have long quit the team and others that I've talked to simply got overwhelmed before even trying to make anything of it. This does not seem to be a viable option to pick.

The other thing would be to slow down on the release schedule, but I think the release schedule is already slow enough as is. Personally, though? I'd like to push the number to 200 plugins as soon as possible. Any particular reason for 200? Well, to be quite honest, I think it's probably time I retired from creating plugins for MV and 200 would be the ideal number to hit for that retirement.

Is there a reason I want to retire in the first place? Well, as mentioned before, it's hard to find new members to the team. With an ever growing library of MV plugins to keep track of, work becomes exponential so one person doing everything is extremely unrealistic and the creation of new plugins becomes harder and harder. What do I mean by that? Well, let's take a look at the latest plugin polls.

Stuff that exist on that plugin poll are either super generalized or super specialized. The stuff that's super specialized tend to not win because they don't benefit games outside of a few niches. The stuff that's super generalized will win, but they're also much harder to create stuff for. Why is that? Well, let's take a look at the recent winner: the Bestiary. The bestiary is a small menu that lists the enemies in the game, their stats, and other sorts of information. This information can vary from game to game, but now, let's take a look at the list of plugins that all affect enemies in some way or another in a major way and that'd also affect the Bestiary and the type of information it'd display:

Base Parameter Control, Extra Parameter Control, Special Parameter Formula, Animated Sideview Enemies, Weak Enemy Poses, Battle A.I. Core, Extra Enemy Drops, Overkill Bonus, Skill Mastery Levels, Battle Statistics, Auto Passive States, Enemy Levels, Enemy Base Parameters, Enhanced TP, Row Formations, Steal & Snatch, Swap Enemies, and Dragonbones.

That's a ton of plugins to ensure working together to get a basic menu created. There's two ways to approach this: either decide to forego compatibility and make the most basic of basic plugins ever or delay the release to take my time and get it all made. The problem with the first approach is that there's already a ton of other Bestiary plugins out there not in the YEP library like this. The problem for the second approach is that as time passes, more and more plugins will be made that will require such compatibility. This is not just a problem with the Bestiary idea that won the plugin poll but also some other more generalized entries, too.

What I'm going to say next is probably going to be a disappointment to many of you, but I think I'll have to pass on making the Bestiary as well as the rest of the plugin polls. Suffice to say, the plugin polls didn't last too long anyway, but as a single programmer working on all of this, it's a bit too much to handle.

So what's the plan from here on out? Well, as I said earlier in the post, I'll be aiming for 200 plugins before retiring. The remaining 20 plugins will be the swan songs of the YEP library for MV. These will be tools that I personally think are missing for MV to have a comfortable experience. They won't be new game features or mechanics, but instead, tools and utilities that will help improve the game development process akin to what you see with the Bonus Plugins I've been releasing as of late such as the Event Region Trigger and Event Proximity Activate.

Though I say retirement, it's retirement from creating plugins. After that, the plans are undecided yet, but I'm thinking I'll be returning back to doing Tips & Tricks since those are highly requested from time to time. Without the need to create new plugins, I can focus more time and energy to delivering more awesome Tips & Tricks videos for all of you. :D Of course, that's still far in the future so there may be some other plans along the way.

This is probably disappointing to many of you, and believe me, I'm as much disappointed in my own inability to follow through on these polls and plugins. I don't think I can apologize profusely enough to make up for it, but as I'm pretty much at my limit on the workload involved with maintaining 180+ plugins. I'd rather shift the gears in my favor a little bit as I make a run for the final stretch of the YEP library. I hope you all understand that typing this out isn't easy for me and I know that it won't be easy for you, my supporters, to hear this selfish decision I'm making.

But despite all of that, I do wish that you are all still looking forward to the works I'll be releasing in the future to make your RPG Maker game dev lives much easier! Until then, happy RPG Making!

I honestly feel that I would get more out of tips & tricks and maybe having a couple more comics. I honestly haven't been able to use a lot of the plugins you were creating because of my own hectic life. You've done a fantastic job, I didn't realize you were back to being on your own as I've been a bit checked out from RPG Maker. But you do excellent work. 200 sounds like a great number to finish on.

Hey Yanfly, a few things. A) Making it to 100 plugins and maintaining them would be considered a huge workload, let alone 200. B) I personally know many people who are going to be ecstatic that Tips and Tricks may be coming back. C) Who really knows what the future will hold. I wish you the very best and will continue to support until the wheels fall off. :) <3

Before I say anything else let me first say this: Yanfly you are a legend. I think we all can agree that Kadokawa should have you on their payroll because let’s be real here: if it wasn’t for you, RMMV would have died off a long time ago. So from the bottom of my heart and soul, thank you for everything you’ve done for the RM community. 🙂 Now to address your plans. I am personally super excited to see more tips and tricks. Every tips and tricks I watch of yours I learn something new. Something about your style of tutorials really resonates with us noobs. They are logical, easy to follow, and overall just pleasant to watch. That said, my request is if you could please make a series on how to perform advanced functions with the engine itself, such as eventing or basic script calls. I think this would help a lot of developers to become less dependent on plugins to be the solution to all their RM problems. For example, if people knew how to use eventing to make their own skill tree, they could stop asking you and every other plugin author in the world to make a skill tree plugin. Lol. I know that there are already several videos and written guides out there that help people with this, but they lack a certain ... Yanflyness. 😊 Regardless of what you choose to do, just know that you will always have my full support and gratitude. So when you retire, don’t retire with any regret. Be proud of what you’ve accomplished. You’ve literally helped countless people’s dreams to become reality, and how many people do you know who can say that? 😊 You’re the best, Yanfly. Can’t wait to see what comes next! 😃

I'll say this now, if Yanfly was on payroll, most of his plugins would've been rejected. I'm glad he's not on the official development team and can do whatever the hell he wants.

There's a lot of reasons why, but one of them is maintenance and stability. Hell just us asking for more self switches was rejected.

Working as a software engineer myself Yanfly I'm amazed at your dedication and how well you've managed to support such a crazy number of plugins. No one deserves a well earned retirement more than you and I suspect these final plugins will serve us better than most we would come up with ourselves. Thank you for all your hard work making them all these years. It has been a joy to see these plugins, as well as your tips and tricks.

Thank you for all your hard work. The hours and effort are beyond my comprehension. I just wanted to say a couple things when I saw this post. The first being, the name "Yanfly" has become synonymous with "Excellence" to me, please do exactly what you think is best, because that's what you do best. And thank you for all these amazing plugins, They are truly the greatest gift to RPG Maker I've ever seen. I'm already more then happy with the amount that you have given us, even if you stopped now, I could not complain, I can only be excited for anything more that you feel like sharing with us. And once again, I think the worst thing you could ever do would be to become stressed and stop enjoying what you're doing, please never lose the joy in doing what it is you choose to do. Thank you for everything Yanfly, do take care.

User #2708986 - 1 Mar 19 21:04
I stopped using RPG Maker for almost a year because life was just getting in the way of my hobby time, but I kept my support up because the YEP library of plugins is amazing and there are far more things in here than I think I could even manage to use reliably. It's such a massive list, that I am so glad is available. There's no shame in admitting and letting everyone know that the workload is just much more than you could expect to be able to handle alone, and even an excessively experienced coder would have no end of headache diving in at this point. Even if you stretch on to an even 200 plugins and then hang up the hat, I do hope you stick around and polish things up at your own pace. You've added so much to this engine, and you never had to share any of it for free like you have, but here you are. Definitely a legend in the MV community. Cheers! Would shake your hand in hopes even a small portion of that genius would rub off onto me. :D
user avatar
User #76008 - 2 Mar 19 00:04
Honestly I don't even know how you keep coming up with ideas for plugins because it feels like you've done just about everything anyone could ever want. MV's been out for four years and you've been making plugins for most of that time; you deserve to kick back and relax.

Hi Yanfly, I just want to wish you the best of luck with what you decide to do next. I hope the best for your future. Thank you for all the wonderful plugins you gave us. To be honest, the real truth is, it is amazing you gave us 180 Plugins to begin with and your even planning to give us 200 Plugins. I think that's quite amazing what you've done and plan to do. I agree fully with what others are saying, do what you think is best with the decisions you want to make going forward, as like others have noted, it does make a lot of sense what you wrote here, and what you decide to do is what's best. Otherwise it won't make much sense to continue in a different direction that isn't what you really want to be doing next.
user avatar
User #3015006 - 1 Mar 19 18:26
I don't think that it is selfish at all... you are one individual doing a lot for a large community and not really asking much; thanks to our donations, you have been able to provide many more people with hope. As long as you continue to keep things updated as best as possible and keep up some T&Ts vids, I will continue to support you.
user avatar
User #966430 - 1 Mar 19 16:00
I'm kind of a noob here, but I'll add my two cents. I think you're 100 % spot on for what you want. I think it'd be interesting for the future, and excuse me if this is already in place, to instead of making new plugins help others learn how to. For example, if a poll came up on how to write the Beastery you could discuss your process for how you'd go about doing that, what other plug-ins that might be affected to consider, how they would interact, how you could go about making various types of forms of the Beastery with simple coding examples. This would help people improve and grow in multiple areas without you having to make the full plugin yourself. It would also allow people to customize the plug-in to fit their needs. I think it would inspire new posts of people asking, hey I tried this but it didn't work or failed here, what do you guys think? Opening it up to people learning and problem solving together.
user avatar
User #17204139 - 2 Mar 19 18:43
That's a perfect idea. The best thing Yanfly can give us is not simply a plugin or library of plugins, but teaching others how to make their own plugins, so we don't have to rely on him & others all the time, i.e. passing the torch so to speak. Reminds me of that proverb: Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.

The way I see it, the problem is that there is no good way for people know about what plugins exist that could solve their specific problem. However, as i learned in the past, many problems seem to stem from being not knowledgeable enough about internal eventing, and even semingly complex problems are often solved with a simple script call or eventing knowledge. Sure, some more persistent people go to the discord and ask there, but how many do that? My suggestion is to work closer with the discord to create a sort of "FAQ Hub" (suggestion: google docs) where people can look up a problem and find a solution to their (often niche) problems quickly.

It’s sad to hear you’re retiring soon, but I get it. Making 200 compatible plugins is a pretty tough job. Before you retire from making plugins, would you consider making an extension to the music menu that adds more entries, similar to the quest menu extensions? The current Music Menu simply doesn’t have enough room for a full game and I haven’t seen it on the recent plugin polls.

Fallen Angel Olivia releases the State Tooltip Display plugin! 2019-02-12T00:52:40+00:00close

Our friend, Fallen Angel Olivia releases a new plugin, the State Tooltip Display! Games nowadays often show tooltips for status effects and whatnot. Now, your players don’t have to be in the dark about what your status effects do, especially since you might be the type of person who’d have hundreds of them in your game (you guys know who you are).

This is a RPG Maker MV plugin that adds a tooltip window in battle (and other scenes) dedicated to showing information regarding states. If the playerhovers the mouse over the state icons, the window will appear and displaydescriptions about each of the states affecting the battler.

This is a paid plugin with a launch sale lasting a week! You can grab it for $7.99 while it’s on sale!

Video Demonstration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yGZ5-XUF50

Our talented plugin creator friend, Fallen Angel Olivia, releases another plugin: Equipment Set Bonuses!

This is a RPG Maker MV plugin that allows you to set equipment to be a part of various sets. When multiple pieces of the set are equipped, (for example: Fireproof Shield, Fireproof Hat, Fireproof Vest), then bonuses are applied. Bonuses can be applied at different stages, too, depending on how many set pieces are being currently equipped. The art (sprite, face, battler) for an actor can also change based on the number of equipment sets worn.

This is a paid plugin that will be sold for $15. Since the plugin just launched, it will be 20% off for a week. Be sure to grab it!

I figured I'd let you all know about this one, since this topic's been asked quite a while back in the Tips & Tricks days. This process automates it and does it with flying colors! :D

Skip Cutscene plugin by Fallen Angel Olivia 2019-01-07T22:02:22+00:00close

I figured I'd share this with all of you all since I personally think this plugin is absolutely amazing! :D Definitely something we see in mainstream RPG's nowadays!

---

Our talented plugin creator friend Fallen Angel Olivia has finished making the Skip Cutscene plugin for RPG Maker MV! With it, you can now skip cutscenes, Octopath-style!

This is a RPG Maker MV plugin that provides the functionality to skip ahead in a cutscene. This is a quality of life addition for players that may have played a certain scene already and would like to skip ahead. The player would hold the cancel button (X on the keyboard or Right Click on the mouse) if the ability to skip the cutscene is available. By holding it until the skip gauge is full, the scene skips forward to the next available section.

This is a paid plugin that will be sold for $9.99. Since the plugin just launched, it will be 20% off for a week at $7.99! Be sure to grab it!

Wow Yanfly, it sounds really nice that the first three silver bundle things all fit well together, I'm glad it can help people out. For me, it was a little much to try an read everything in one go, but it does sound exciting. I really like Olivia's OctoPack, really hoping someone will sometime make good use of it. I think it's right to start putting prices on some of the things you all create, for all of you, but at the same time, I think some free stuff now and then would be nice too. I know that's already happening, but I thought I'd share my own thoughts, that's just my opinion though, but if it helps out in any way, then great! Keep creating stuff, but never push yourselves beyond the limits. :)

Social Media Buttons plugin by Fallen Angel Olivia 2018-10-27T13:18:29+00:00close

Our talented plugin creator friend, Fallen Angel Olivia, has released a new plugin: Social Media Buttons.

This is a RPG Maker MV plugin that will add social media buttons onto your title screen that can be clicked and taken to desired URLs. You can add as many or remove as many buttons as you want and have them go to custom URLs of your liking. You can also position these buttons anywhere on the screen with provided coordinates, too.

It’s a paid plugin, but it is currently on sale for 67% off, costing only $0.98. It’s very well made and looks excellent, too! It also doesn’t open up another NodeJS client, but instead, actually opens up the player’s desired browser and makes a new page on it. The fade in effect also looks great, too! I definitely recommend giving this a download!

Sacred Earth - Promise - By Sacred Star Team 2018-10-02T12:20:33+00:00close

Our friends at the Sacred Star Team, including the extremely talented MirageV, have a game they would like to share with us!

---

A warrior stands alone. A promise is forgotten. Today, that will change ...

A mischievous mercenary from wintry Garenia and her long-suffering sister set aside their differences to compete in a tournament of arms. But when an old friend appears in the company of mysterious relic hunters, the past can no longer be denied. Sacred Earth - Promise is a four- to six-hour visual novel/RPG experience set within a fantasy world of floating continents and ancient ruins, with a dynamic custom battle system and a compelling cast of characters.

Features:

· Three playable characters with their own animated sprites and special attacks.

· Tactical, fast-paced combat: Utilize multiple-hit Chain attacks to build up your EX Gauge and expend it to unleash powerful Burst attacks or heal with EX Recover.

· Two ways to explore: transition between traditional tile maps and the original boardgame-style Symbol Map system for dungeon navigation. Manage your Travel Points to evade traps and gain the initiative in battles, and enjoy party interactions in the field.

- 10 side quests, including clever puzzles and challenging optional battles.

- 21 full-color CGs.

· An engaging presentation with moving portraits that displays conversations between up to four characters at once, with anytime-save and backlog features.

· Fully explore the game's world and quests and unlock the true ending.

Battle System STB Bug Fix Update 2018-09-28T14:15:41+00:00close

It's been brought to my attention multiple times across the past few months that there's been bugs with STB and forced actions. This has been finally fixed as of today's update. Or rather, it's been fixed for about a week ago, but has been in testing throughout the week before I decided to make it official. This is mostly thanks to Olivia asking me various questions in the making of her OTB battle system, which made me go back to reference STB on where to go for her as the two systems are very similar. Not only are forced actions fixed but so are instant casts for enemies, too. This, too, is also thanks to my interactions with Olivia once again.

You can get the updated and fixed version of the STB plugin here.

That said, I can imagine many of you have questions in regards to this update. Three of which, I can picture already so I'll go ahead and answer them.

1. Does this mean you will continue to support STB once again?

I won't say it will leave the discontinued status, but rather, it will be subject to bug fixes when the opportunity arises. After all, the three points made in this post remain true even in the current situation. The recent update to STB is what I consider to be an exception to the rule, if only to tie up loose ends.

2. Will you add in Action Times+ to STB?

Short answer: no. Long answer: It's not something that fits in the scheme of STB due to the constant reliance and cyclical calculation of the AGI stat to determine the turn order (as that is an integral part of what makes STB work). The other reason is that the update to STB is mostly to tie up loose ends, as answered by the previous question, not an update to continue support and eventually add more features to it. However, if Action Times+ is a big part of your battle system and you would like for it to play a big role, STB would need to drop off the AGI stat's influence on the turn order for it to be possible. When this happens, it actually becomes Olivia's OTB battle system. I recommend you give that a try.

3. What is the difference between CTB, STB, and OTB?

This is a question I've seen asked often. And as it's asked often, it's better that it gets answered properly, as it is the responsibility of the game's developer to understand each of the facets that govern his/her game's mechanics.

CTB: Charge Turn Battle is a tick-based battle system. This means there are no such thing as a "battle turn" count. While "battle turns" are added in artificially through the plugin to just tie in the works of the Troop Event Condition, "battle turns" do not fundamentally play a role in determining the turn order of everything. In place of turn counts, "ticks" are used instead where a tick is a singular calculation that determines the proper positioning and relativity of each unit to each other in the grand scheme of calculating the turn order to determine which unit will have an action earlier or later. These "ticks" can be thought of as a clock ticking in seconds, only that the time in between battlers is removed and the time during a battler's input is frozen. The said ticks will govern state "turns", too, as they are automatically converted into ticks. In CTB, AGI is the king, the single most important stat in the whole game. A unit with a high enough AGI can potentially have multiple action turns before a unit with far lower AGI and will outlap the slower unit even after. With this in mind, CTB is the hardest to balance AGI out of the three mentioned battle systems thanks to "haste" and "slow" states being able to completely throw the battle system's balance out the window.

STB: Part of the reason why CTB is so hard to balance properly is due to the fact that the editor is built completely around turn-based combat. STB makes a return to that from the tick-based STB back to turn-based. STB will also attempt to artificially balance the AGI stat by utilizing the rule of the "battle turn" imposed on by the battle system: Each unit is only allowed one turn by default regardless of their AGI value. Units with higher AGI values go earlier while units with lower AGI values go later. Because of this rule, AGI still has an immensely strong grasp on the battle system but not as strong as CTB did. AGI is constantly being calculated after each action to restructure the turn order in order to keep the balance and flow of the battle system. Exceptions can exist to this rule like Instant Casts, but Action Times+ aren't as they are fundamentally different. In STB, those who stack AGI either before or during battle will often come out on top provided everything else is balanced. Maintaining "haste" on the player party and "slow" on the enemy troop is the key and core way of winning in nearly any game that uses STB and gives access to those play states/buffs.

OTB: Like STB, OTB is turn-based instead of being tick-based. However, it does a couple of interesting things.

  • First, it maintains a mild dependence on AGI. Each unit's AGI is only used for the calculation of the initial turn order when it's being made and nothing else. Any changes to a unit's AGI once the turn has started will not influence that unit's position in the turn order, unlike STB. At least, not until the next time AGI is used for calculating the unit's position in the turn order.
  • The second thing of interest, however, is that instead of using one turn order to calculate the order of the units, it actually uses two: the current turn and the next turn. This means when turns are calculated, it actually does it for the next turn whenever a battle turn rolls over. This means the new "current turn" was the previous "next turn". What makes this interesting is that this means that AGI changes not only do not affect the current turn nor the next turn, but instead, are effective only after the turn following the next turn. This makes changing AGI during battle seem nearly delayed, yet, that doesn't actually happen... But why is that?
  • That brings us to the third thing of interest: because OTB has a mild hold on AGI and thrives on utilizing two turn orders, it becomes the ideal candidate for a mechanic called Turn Order Manipulation. Having two turn orders (and visible) allows for the player to manipulate it calculatingly. And because AGI only affects the initial calculation of the order in the turns, the player does not have to worry about a sudden reversal due to a change in a unit's AGI. Changes to the turn order through manipulation are there to stay unless further manipulated by other similar effects or when a new turn is to occur. This makes the manipulation only temporary and not lingering but still remains impactful.

So what does this say about OTB? Its mild AGI dependency, flexible turn order mechanics, and all around openness to turn order changes means that it's actually NOT a battle system where the only way to combat AGI is to get better AGI (which is seen in the case of CTB and STB). And because of the all around openness in the battle system, things like Action Times+ can be utilized and included into it and flow just fine. So what anyone can conclude is that out of the three battle systems we've compared, OTB is the most AGI-balanced and flexible.

This isn't to say OTB isn't going to be without problems. In fact, making a battle system flawless is next to impossible. Not all plugins or the Tips & Tricks effects we've learned and made will be necessarily compatible with it. However, this isn't the fault of OTB, but instead, the fault of RPG Maker MV's original battle structure. A lot of the original battle structure throws a lot of chaos into making it structurally compatible with old and/or future plugins. Fortunately, by Olivia tying her OTB to the Battle Engine Core, a lot of potential plugin compatibility issues are fixed but not all.

---

Whew, typed a lot more than I expected to. While I am definitely in favor of OTB, I also recognize that for certain games out there, CTB or STB is better suited for them. For this reason alone, I made these small updates to STB to hopefully make the lives of some certain people a little easier.

Thank you, thank you very much. All my game was built on STB. I'm very grateful to you. OTB is also a very good system, but my entire combat system was built on your STB. When because of the updates everything went wrong, I was already thinking about quitting the project. But thanks to you, I returned to Nimu again. Many thanks. You are the best. Sorry for my English)))

Meta Controls by Fallen Angel Olivia 2018-09-24T00:59:26+00:00close

Our friend, Fallen Angel Olivia, has created another plugin again called Meta Controls! :D

This is a RPG Maker MV plugin that lets you control switches and variables that last across a meta level on a game. A switch or variable designated to function as a meta switch or meta variable can persist across different save files. To assist in controlling meta properties of the game some more, the developer can assign common events to run at the start of a new game or when a game is loaded. Saving the game can also register map data to variables.

You can download it fromitch.io!

OctoPack Battler - by Fallen Angel Olivia 2018-09-17T12:16:47+00:00close

Created by our Octopath-loving friend, Fallen Angel Olivia:

This is a sample project that contains a plugin with the 8x OctoPack Battler plugins compiled together and a pre-built setup to let you create a game to get the battle system running right out of the box. This sample project is heavily inspired by Octopath Traveler! You can use it to build your own game on top of it to have everything work properly! Otherwise, if you just want the compilation plugin itself, you can download that for free!

This system works amazingly well, is really clean, and fits nicely into a game that's already using Yanfly's Plugins - including CTB or STB systems! I'm really enjoying playing around with it in my game, especially the UI, Battle Effects, and OTB plugins! The only shortcoming I can find is that there is no Action Sequence Tags to affect Turn Order. I found these to be very useful with CTB, as it allows you to use States to give Actors and Enemies resistance to Order Knocback.

Hi Yanfly! This is a great idea. I would like to propose. You could tell about additional plug-ins that are compatible with yours. I can offer you my help. Here are a couple of examples of these plugins work perfectly with yours. I checked it myself. https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/waynee95s-plugin-collection-newest-way_yep_itemdiscard.78979/ https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/yr-plugins.69148/ https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/ramzas-new-and-improved-dual-wield-plugin-updated-jul-2-2018.79566/ Tell others about them. Or make a post with a list of plug-ins. It's a good idea to diversify the context. Sorry for my English)))

This Order System is what I've been looking for for 2 years.... Game is just about ready for release.... do I want to delay it to update the battle system? Hmm..... 🤔
What to do with the Lunatic Pack Suggestion Box 2018-09-15T17:00:02+00:00

So I'm sure a lot of you have probably noticed by now, but Sylvester's gone inactive/on hiatus for a while. It wasn't until last week that he's decided to finalize his leave from the team (due to real life issues) and offer his apologies to you all for not being able to fulfill his duties on the matter of working on the Lunatic Packs.

For this, I, too, offer my apologies to those of you who were looking forward to the Lunatic Packs, but I'm pretty sure you would rather have that hole filled up with something more substantial.

So, as I was doing the QnA session answers, Valryia's question popped into mind, namely the one about plugin voting. Before, by keeping the polls open to the public on a host where I have little to no control, vote manipulation could skew the results. But on Patreon, voting is a lot more fair and the likelihood of vote manipulation would be far less likely.

As such, this brings me to my next suggestion: what would you guys say to re implementing the polls? For the time being, I am creating plugins on a by need basis, and this seems like a great way to gauge what you, as patrons, need the most for your games.

Also, I'm open to other ideas that you may have to replace this suggestion box! However, on that note, I will say that opening back up the Tips & Tricks suggestion box will be a no go since that directly interferes with the tutorial videos until I find someone to help with them (to which, I'm hesitant on right now due to the huge turn over rate we've had for team members). But other than that, all other ideas are welcome!

i chose plugin voting because i like that we as patreons have a say in the kind of content we receive. alternatively, some other pareons use a monthly "request thread' on here, and then prioritize the suggestions that get the most "likes" as well as what they think is feasible for that month. that might be another way to do it.

Plugin voting, for example, a materia system.

User #2535083 - 15 Sep 18 18:57
Plugin voting but keep it to mechanics plugin like the eventing triforce. Plugins that can change the whole system! XD

Plugin voting, a lighting system or beastieary etc.

In a sense, we can't really say for sure if they will return (or at all) so it will probably be for the best, even if temporary, to put it to better use. While I did vote for Plugin Voting, I also do have a suggestion regarding it. Maybe instead of making it simply be the top/highest voted plugin as an option, perhaps make it the top three highest voted plugin options instead. Perhaps even work from lowest-to-highest?

Considering how long Sylvester has been gone before deciding to leave, I think he won't be back for a while, so it might be the better option to just make a plugin voting poll. Polls don't require as much attention to watch over compared to the lunatic suggestion box, so it's easier to manage and regulate than a suggestion box. While I would also like to see the Lunatic Pack Suggestion Box return one day, if only one could exist at a time, I'd say the Plugin voting is better.

Octopack Battler Teaser! 2018-09-11T18:31:50+00:00close

For those wondering, this isn't made by me, but instead, made by Fallen Angel Olivia, who was introduced to me by Archeia to help her out with the new and upcoming OTB battle system (which stands for Order Turn Battle)! :D

She's currently working on an Octopath Traveler battle system plugin for RPG Maker MV and has the majority of the components ready except for the turn system itself. But that's currently being made and tested as you can see in the video above!

I figured I'd share this with you all since it's been a while since we've had such a major battle plugin made for RPG Maker MV! And I must say, having tested it myself, it runs really smooth, moreso than the vanilla battle system.

Olivia took aspects from STB to adapt it to OTB, such as instant actions after selecting a command and being able to be used with the Battle Engine Core. And with that, she and I came up with fixes for the STB battle system, too, which will include fixed forced actions as well as instant casting for enemies! This will be updated at a later date once her battle system is fully realized.

Hope you're all excited for it! :D I know I am!

PS: As for what Archeia is doing in the video, she's abusing the system with tomatoes and turn order manipulation effects.

Octopath Traveler is such a good game, that it looks like it's made from MV (I say this because I can clearly see a lot of "plugins" inside the game.)

Lots of Plugin Updates 2018-08-27T14:57:41+00:00close

I'm sure many of you who have updated to MV version 1.6.0 or higher have encountered that error message. Why does it occur? It's because ever since MV has updated to version 1.6.0 or above, it uses a newer version of NodeJS, the client that runs your game. For whatever reason, this version of NodeJS removed the isDevToolsOpen() function, making some of the code used in many of my plugins (64 to be exact) to leave behind this error message whenever custom but flawed code is entered in a script call or a Lunatic Mode segment. This issue is now "remedied" by just simply bypassing the check. You will still need to open up the Dev Tools window on your own using the F8 key to see the error stack that's produced.

In any case, here's the following plugins that have been affected and are now updated to have this issue fixed:

For main plugins:

For the extension plugins:

Whew! Be sure to take the time to update your plugins, everyone!

One of our friends, Stapleton, has just finished his game De'Vine: World of Shadows! And it'll be ready by May 4th! Be sure to check it out! :D

https://youtu.be/O7DHtk69rww

The Ancients were beings of enormous power each created on their own accord. Negative energy that lies dormant for too long within varying dimensions finds a host and thereby creating an ancient.

These Ancients threatened both Heaven and Hell. For the first and only time in all existance, Angels and Demons came together to create a trinket so strong that they only allowed those with human blood to possess it.

That is when Amos, being obsessed with the Ancients, created a blood ritual and had 2 sons of his own. Both half-demon and half-human. They were able to wield this powerful amulet and do his bidding to seal the Ancients.

But alas, Amos' plan to sacrifice Kuan was revealed and instead Chung gave his own life to save him. Nevertheless a portal was opened to the mortal realm and an invasion of demons scourged the land.

1000 years later, Kuan awoke from his sealed prison after Master Sage Tenoch's seal shattered. Priestess Audie and Master Sage Oat quickly but with great caution take him in and hope that he can be the new "Hero" of this age.

For just as it does every 1000 years, Lucifer sends an invasion of demons to try and reclaim the mortal realm as a stepping stone to Heaven.

From here on, it is up to Kuan to stop the invasion and put an end to malevolence once and for all!
